It shouldn't be so easy to access pornography...
Messageboards should be properly moderated before things go live...

How?

StillCoughingandLaughing · 11/07/2020 09:54

I’m assuming a joke or a TAAT?

Lockheart · 11/07/2020 09:55

"The internet" is not one single hive mind.

It's as varied as the human population is. Anyone can set up their own website with their own content and their own way of doing things.

"The internet" is not subject to any laws of any nation. People are. Websites are. But not "the internet".

I completely agree with this. How are you going to police it? If you don't want to be able to access porn put parental controls on your devices. The interest is not one thing, it's not a hive-mind.
Ifailed · 11/07/2020 09:57

Don't worry, in a few years our Chinese masters will sort it out for you.

LittleBearPad · 11/07/2020 09:57

@Jennifer2r

How?
^^This
wildcherries · 11/07/2020 10:00

Isn't that what parental locks are for? Assuming you mean children shouldn't access porn. As PP, the Internet is not a hive mind. And I'm not crazy about the thought of censorship of what I can and can't write on a message board.

VettiyaIruken · 11/07/2020 10:01

That would be great.

How do you propose the world wide web be managed in order to achieve that?

JesusInTheCabbageVan · 11/07/2020 10:01

Completely agree. You crack on then OP, let us know when you've sorted it.

hampstead1234 · 11/07/2020 10:02

I don't know why the plan to have to opt in for pornography or other adult content was abandoned. It I am sure would have made a difference, and perhaps made some content uneconomic to post.

bonjonbovi · 11/07/2020 10:06

Ah yes. Let’s have state controlled internet. I’m sure the government wouldn’t censor anything.

Perhaps we could then have a rating set on how you behave on the internet, that impacts your credit score or how easily you can access housing etc.

ThanosSavedMe · 11/07/2020 10:08

Would love to know how you think that could be done

BluebellForest836 · 11/07/2020 10:09

Get parental locks. Simple.

JaJaDingDong · 11/07/2020 10:11

You could start cleaning it up yourself OP. Shouldn't take long Grin

LemonDrizzles · 11/07/2020 10:13

The way you could police that is that whois info is verified by web hosts. Someone has paid for a web site using a bank account. Any adult content had to be by log in only where user declare they are an adult. If web site owner set up a website without requiring log in, they are fined based on whois info. There would be a process though. Web hosts pay a general annual license to fund the international org that manages it.

Publishers stop saying they are not publishers because they do not "hire" the writers. There is a 1 hour delay before any content is published. Users have to log in to publish content. Web site owners have to start identifying risk of users/creators. (YouTube already does something similar). A portion of ad sales could fund staffing management.

Or we could just continue to cross our collective fingers and hope people do the "right" thing ( whatever that right thing is in the moment)

LemonDrizzles · 11/07/2020 10:16

The exception would be live streaming or live commentating. Web site owners are responsible for maybe live moderating 5% of these types of chats only if host user mid to high risk.

DoraemonDingDong · 11/07/2020 10:16

@bluewedge

It shouldn't be so easy to access pornography... Messageboards should be properly moderated before things go live...
The flip side of your post: Control your own desire or need for pornography. Don't be such a dick on message boards.

Be responsible and teach the young to become responsible, rather than depend on other people to determine and control the world for you.

Lockheart · 11/07/2020 10:30

@LemonDrizzles and how would you get every single country in the world to bring that legislation into being? You could enforce such things in country A for example but if country B does not then web users in country A can still access adult content without any checks by looking at websites run by people in country B.

Unless country A were able to strictly control what content it's citizens had access to by limiting access to the internet.

I for one do not want to see state-controlled internet access such as China has.

LemonDrizzles · 11/07/2020 10:33

Maybe general chat would be a five minute delay. When I said 1 hour, I was thinking more about videos.

I watch a lot of YouTube commentary about the state of YouTube

Chloemol · 11/07/2020 10:35

If you are unhappy I suggest you go and live in China, or North Korea where this happens, then see if you like it

Shoxfordian · 11/07/2020 10:37

Why has everything got to be family friendly?

Starbuggy · 11/07/2020 10:43

Or parents could supervise their child’s internet use themselves

It’s ok that there are places in real life and online which are not child friendly.

LilBlackLab · 11/07/2020 10:44

‘Family friendly’?

My kids are in their 20’s so it’s already family friendly for us thanks! 😊

TorkTorkBam · 11/07/2020 10:47

Great idea. Let's do books too. Family friendly clean books only in the world. As defined by you. We can burn the rest. And best to burn anyone who secretly keeps some unapproved material to read or even, god forbid, produces it.
