A few years ago Australia looked at trying to bring in strict internet censorship laws. It didn’t make it through parliament luckily.

Firstly, it was found that despite good intentions the filter would have blocked many legitimate websites and impacted freedom of speech and debate. Then there was the issue that the main politician pushing for the whole scheme was a right wing conservative Christian. Who gets to decide what is censored and what is okay?
