To ask, does anyone have sex like they do TV dramas?

During lockdown I’ve been watching The Affair, it’s a great drama but I am wondering if the sex reflects anyone’s real life? Even before 4 x children I don’t remember sex like that on tap 24/7, starting to wonder if I’ve missed out. I don’t even fancy Dominic West but I feel a bit upset that I’ve never been in a relationship like this.

Anyone every successfully had shower sex without one of you getting cold or half drowned?

Yep a few times, but its all those awkardley placed bits of metal and slippery floors that spoil the fun.

Shower sex, love it! Up against the wall, love it! Sex like in the movies, yep! I've just watched normal people on iPlayer and that is just what me and my partner are like! Granted we've only been together 8 months, but loving every second!

I didn't realise it but seems I've had some quite adventurous / tv like sex over the years.

Have had sex with DH holding me up against a wall on a balcony. Shower sex, in the bath, in a pool, on a dining table, in a forrest, in the car, in the garden, in a castle turret, and other random places.

Had drenched in sweat, sheet gripping sex and 5 times a night sex.

We don't have sex as much now and definitely couldn't manage it up against a wall anymore but we still have great sex and have fun on child free breaks.

@Redland12 Good for you! I’d been a bit worried about getting out there again - confidence has nosedived - Ex is shagging every pretty young thing going - I’m stuck at home with the kids etc etc. But maybe you are right! Fair play to you.

You must all be very slim and/or have strong partners to have sex against a wall! I wouldn't dare as it would cause serious injury to both of us! Standing up sex (where you are both standing up) can surely only work if your partner is a bit shorter than you? Otherwise it's all tip toes for the woman and bendy knees for the man - uncomfortable and not at all sexy

We're not vanilla at all sexually but I doubt it's as seamless looking (or as fast!) as TV sex.

Before children, we were properly hot and heavy. Was ace. Now that child, menopause, weight gain etc have taken their toll, not so much. We should do something about that probably.

TV series sex is a bit like those endless recaps on daytime TV: it wastes a lot of time. Frequent and varied sex means you can string out a six episode series to nine without the effort of writing any more actual words. They think we don't notice. Yawn..wake me up when it's over!

No, sex on tv is not realistic. There has been a lot of praise for the realism of sex scenes in Normal People and I May Destroy You but I think they're way off, both of them.

Where's the foreplay? It's either non existent or 20 seconds at most. Especially when anal sex is depicted.

In I May Destroy You, a character was raped by her partner removing the condom mid sex. She then looked surprised that he had done that but if a man ejaculates inside you then sperm drips out, even before you get up and go to the loo. You'd know.

Shower sex has only ever been good once for me. It was a swanky cottage with a shower that had a showerhead on the ceiling and two on the walls so nobody got cold. The floor was properly non-slip and the wall too so hands didn't slip. Other than that it's always been shit because it's like shagging on ice with how slippy it is
