Am I too old for a leather jacket ?

I'm mid forties. I've never had one but would love a black leather jacket, preferably biker style without the multiple buckles and zips. Would need to sit on or just below my hips. To wear over a summer dress but also with a top, jeans and heels. Too old or any recommendations. Willing to spend for the right one and don't want faux leather.
Opinions welcome.
And thanks !

No.

thenightsky · 05/07/2020 20:57

Not too old. I'm 60 and still wear one. Treated myself to an All Saints Biker Bales one last year.

Ghostlyglow · 05/07/2020 20:57

No. Get one. All Saints.

OchonAgusOchonO · 05/07/2020 21:00

No such thing as too old for a leather jacket.

Magickl · 05/07/2020 21:01

You're never too old to rock a leather jacket, they're a classic.

Merryoldgoat · 05/07/2020 21:02

No.

OwlBasket · 05/07/2020 21:03

No. Never too old.

LaurieFairyCake · 05/07/2020 21:03

Definitely not

Once Debbie Harry gives up, that's your time Wink

I'm 50 and all my jackets are leather

thepeopleversuswork · 05/07/2020 21:03

What a ridiculous idea. Of course you’re not to old.

MacavityTheDentistsCat · 05/07/2020 21:03

I'm 51 and have just recently bought this one. The pictures don't really do it justice. It's more matte than in real life and very soft.

I'm late 40's and I rock in my leather - it's one of those simple ones without a collar. I got my 10 year old neice one for her birthday in May, so she obviously thinks I'm cool or delusional Blush.

TakeMe2Insanity · 05/07/2020 21:16

Never too old. I wear mine mid 40s.

My mum (late 70s) wears her leather jackets and looks amazing.

billy1966 · 05/07/2020 21:18

Definitely not.
The cut is important though.
Collar less, short fitted style with discreet zips tend to be a style that is classic.

About 12 years ago I picked up a stunning example in the softest Italian leather in TK Max for 100 quid.
Best buy ever.
Constantly admired.

SmallPinkBear · 05/07/2020 21:21

Nope. I am 39 and have 4 leather jackets. I particularly love my black biker from whistles and navy biker from jigsaw... they look good with so much... get one!!

BigChocFrenzy · 05/07/2020 21:21

Love 'em

  • and I'm 64
Dropitlikeitshot · 05/07/2020 21:24

No! Go for it!

Stannisbaratheonsboxofmatches · 05/07/2020 21:26

I wear mine all the time and I’m 41. Won’t be giving it up any time soon. Mine is a short biker style one.

orchardlover · 05/07/2020 21:26

Thanks. I'm
An hourglass 14. What style would suit please?

AlphaJura · 05/07/2020 21:28

No, I'm 40 and have a couple of leather jackets. Brown and black, aviator style

HateIsNotGood · 05/07/2020 21:34

Mine's my motorcycle leather bought second-hand in 1984. They're really good if you take a tumble on your bike. Are they a thing now?

Mine's got lots of pockets - which is always important in any jacket, leather or not.

ILoveTotoro · 05/07/2020 21:36

Before I even saw your age my answer was "no"

I don't think we should ever feel we are "too old" for anything this narrative really saddens me

ttigerlilly · 05/07/2020 21:42

Never too old!

Wear whatever you like Grin

GellerYeller · 05/07/2020 21:48

Didn't Helen Mirren wear one looking stunning as ever on a red carpet? So no you're not too old at all. Unless your other clothes are leather trousers or anything favoured by Status Quo 30 years ago! As you've said pairing with dresses etc. you'll look great. Go for it.

orchardlover · 05/07/2020 21:54

Thanks everyone. I'm going to go for it! Thanks. I needed a cheer me
Up.
