Am I too old for a leather jacket ?

I'm mid forties. I've never had one but would love a black leather jacket, preferably biker style without the multiple buckles and zips. Would need to sit on or just below my hips. To wear over a summer dress but also with a top, jeans and heels. Too old or any recommendations. Willing to spend for the right one and don't want faux leather.
Opinions welcome.
And thanks !

Not at all. In the winter I wear a denim jacket underneath or team it up with a black fur gilet. Both keeps you nice and toasty when it's cold.

Oh dear lord I seem to have posted quite a few times. Sorry about that.

PoodleMoth · 05/07/2020 22:08

Definitely not too old! I second TKMaxx they often have a range of styles at great prices

notsodimwit · 05/07/2020 22:13

Haha! I cant help laughing about the lady in the 'classics' thread ( I've looked but cant find it again) saying she bought a leather jacket and felt as though she looked like Suzy Quatros nan! Grin

goose1964 · 05/07/2020 22:19

No ,as long as you're the right shape. I lusted after on but if I did it up I was all love and if I left it unzipped it looked like it was too small.

DramaAlpaca · 05/07/2020 22:21

Of course you're not too old! The very idea! I'm 56 and adore mine.

Fishfingersandwichplease · 05/07/2020 22:25

Not too old at all - they are a classic item!

recklessruby · 05/07/2020 22:33

Everyone, no matter their age, looks good in a well cut good quality leather jacket.

To look good in a cheap badly cut leather jacket from the market you have to be about 18.

So depends how much you want to spend on your jacket 😬

fantasmasgoria1 · 05/07/2020 23:27

Never too old for anything. I'm mid 40s and full on goth. I don't look at clothes and thing am I too old. I'll bet a leather jacket will look amazing on you!

AnxiousAlpaca · 06/07/2020 00:01

All Saints do amazing leather jackets like you’ve described. They’re pricy but they often do 20% off sales

EL8888 · 06/07/2020 00:04

Definitely not! Go for it

snowybean · 06/07/2020 00:05

No such thing as too old for a leather jacket.

💯

iffymiffy · 06/07/2020 00:29

Hell no! You’re never too old for these

ILoveTotoro · 06/07/2020 07:39

No but if go shorter as below the hips on a summer dress will look a bit frumpy IMO . I wear a cropped ish jacket over lighter materials .

Oysterbabe · 06/07/2020 07:45

I'm nearly 40 and love my leather jacket. It's pretty old and battered now but it adds to the look imo.
