I need to buy a gift for someone I don't know particularly well. She's had a rough few months and I'd like to get her a really indulgent treat, something she'd be unlikely to buy for herself.

She's 35, no kids, high powered executive type.

Budget is up to £50.

What would you buy? I know I have no AIBU, posting here for trafficBlush

Get her a Mumsnet premium subscription!

www.mumsnet.com/info/mumsnet-premium-faq

At £49.99 a year it's perfectly in your budget.

And once she has one, she can show you where on the forum to post that isn't AIBU for things like this!

I recently bought a hotel chocolat hamper for someone. Also have a look on the don’t send flowers website; some lovely ideas there

A beauty treatment, take her afternoon tea, a candle from White Company.

I love the Rose's that last a year. There's lots of website doing them - these ones are on the Etsy website. Lots of different sizes, colours etc Smile

Absolutely a diptique candle. Classy and thoughtful

Montsti · 04/07/2020 19:34

Candle or cashmere bed socks. The White Company do some beautiful ones (both)...I got my Mum a large Christmas candle 20-40% Off...gifts you probably wouldn’t buy yourself...

GemmeFatale · 05/07/2020 06:04

A houseplant and nice pot

Flowers - either one large bunch or a three month subscription for something more modest.

Fancy socks

Food hamper. Something like a cheese section, with biscuits and chutney would be nice, or you could do an afternoon tea or chocolate if that’s more her thing.

If she likes cooking you can get subscriptions for things like spice mixes with recipe cards. Your budget might stretch to three months.

Clarins Gift Set - pure luxury

Do you know what perfume she wears? If so you could get her the matching body lotion or shower gel, or something like a Chanel mascara, lipstick or nail polish.
