Pram Selling Dramas

I have a beautiful Venicci travel system in immaculate condition and used for only a few months. Due to an upcoming house move and a pack of storage space I decided to sell it and get a stroller. I had a very interested buyer and held it for two weeks for her. It was initially priced at £500 no offers. I went out and bought a new pushchair and car seat, expecting to recoup the money spent when the travel system was sold. The buyer was unsure whether she would come Thursday or Friday. She then messaged on the Thursday asking if she could come "now". I didn't reply within 30 minutes as we were napping and was then blocked on everything.
Fast forward to today, I reduced the price to £480 with a mentality that I won't accept any less than £450 at a push.
A lady came today to view it and was offering £350 to take it tonight, saying that's all she has. I reluctantly said she could have it for £400 for a quick sale. She says she'll let me know but I expect it's out of her range.
AIBU to not want to lower the price or am I unlikely to sell at the price it is worth? I do need it gone and would like to have not gone out and spent money on a new pushchair that I could have used the cash for with our move, but I don't want to basically give it away.
What would you do?

@TakemedowntoPotatoCity
She hasn't grown out of it yet, I just didn't want to use up the lack of storage when we move. I would have bought second hand but there were none for sale when I was ready to buy so went brand new as had my heart set on it. I knew at the time I'd kick myself for it 😂 safe to say I'm fuming with myself now!

£350 isn't nothing, OP. And if you'd be embarrassed shame on you. You sound horrid.

MamaLion1319 · 03/07/2020 13:30

Thanks @Darkestseasonofall

@lanthanum that's what I had said to her she's since got back to me and is coming to collect it for the £400 ☺️

I ended up giving a bugaboo away as I couldn't sell it. Same with a silver cross pioneer.

Zhampagne · 03/07/2020 13:32

£400 is a good result.

MamaLion1319 · 03/07/2020 13:35

Yes @Zhampagne I'm happy with that ☺️

I sold my Bugaboo for £500 on eBay. I listed at the price I wanted and waited until I got it. I had loads of offers but held out as I thought it was worth it. I sold the extras separately too. If you have time hang on.

LuaDipa · 03/07/2020 13:43

Whoops, too late. Well done opSmile

We bought our pram second hand and found that many prams were listed several times before they sold.
Things we looked for in a pram were the state of the wheels, handles and raincover (if included) photos of it up and folded. Things we were less interested that a lot of adverts focused on were whether it had a limited edition fabric pack and how much extra that was and the extras in general.
We were looking in the £100 region so were looking at prams that weren't necessarily the latest model but were still in good condition.

If you want to sell for closer to the retail price you need to wait for someone that is looking for that specific pram otherwise there are loads to choose from. In our area there were two pages of adverts listed every day within a 50 mile radius!

@TakemedowntoPotatoCity I agree.
I don’t get it either.
When my child was born in 2011 - In laws- got us a second hand pram unit.
They kept saying how amazing it will be- when they brought it to our house , it had holes everywhere, dirty khaki colour, it was a wreck!
Extremely heavy.
Half of it was missing.
I couldn’t not refuse and had to use it.
I remember using the car seat egg when my child was 3 days old, it went flying in the car on the roundbound!
The strap was broken!
Yet I was made to use this hideous pram and then I asked my best friend if she could kindly drive and buy me a Mamas Papas stroller for £59 in Argos- she did, it was so light and easy to fold etc.
We used it until my child was 3yrs old.
It was the best pram we had!

Crunchymum · 03/07/2020 14:16

I'm seeing this travel system for as little as £550 brand new, I think you are overpriced @MamaLion1319

Floofboopsnootandbork · 03/07/2020 14:16

We lost our daughter so never got an opportunity to use our Venicci travel system but I needed it gone as it was taking up space and upsetting me, I listed it for £100 as I wanted a quick sale and My listing was very clear it was completely unused, even then had people trying to go lower. I also had 2 people say they wanted it, set a date to collect, and then never came. I still have it and it’s still listed for £100.

You’ll be lucky to get £500 for it, sorry op.

Zhampagne · 03/07/2020 14:17

I'm so sorry for your loss @Floofboopsnootandbork Flowers

ItsSpittingEverybodyIn · 03/07/2020 14:49

Is it the one in Gloucester? Tbh the advert isn't great and it is much more than the others on there.

Metallicalover · 03/07/2020 16:03

I've looked at the travel systems for Venicci and you can get a new travel system from £599 up to £799.
A lot of people won't buy second hand car seats as they don't know if it had been in a crash.

TheWayOfTheWorld · 03/07/2020 16:59

I sold my 6.5 year old Uppababy Vista on EBay a couple of years ago for £250 (having originallly paid around £600 for it at the back end of 2011).

Before listing it I scoped out what other ones had gone for and took note of the listings which had done well. I then cleaned and polished it to within an inch of its life and took LOTS of pictures in good lighting (and no surrounding clutter) with all the different accessories and configurations etc and a good description (not just a cut and paste from the website).

I ran it as an auction (with a reserve price) to create some competitive tension - people don't like to be beaten!

Given it had served 2 children I was very happy with that.

TowelHoarder · 03/07/2020 18:17

Surely if someone’s got £500 for a pram they could get a new one, I’ve seen a new Bugaboo for £650 and I’ve never heard of Vennuci.
