Seems to be very little in our area.

My SAR request included the little gem "we will name x school, hired's daughter is obviously on a completely different level to all children there and we will need to get in tutors to teach her but the only other alternative is to fund "the independent specialist" hired wants. x school is obviously cheaper even with tutors"

Punxsutawney · 29/06/2020 11:30

Dobbins do you know if you can do a SAR when it's an academy school?

hiredandsqueak · 29/06/2020 11:32

I also got " watch out for hired she knows the law and records don't blatantly lie to her face be subtle about it" Also an email from the tutor "what shall I put in my report for tribunal as what I can report would support hired's case?" Completely corrupt the whole bloody lot of them.

OhTheRoses · 29/06/2020 11:37

Indeed. We would have got a service when the CEO was nudged by MP.

Thanks Dobbins.

I contacted GP who said he would refer with the necessary buzz words and he could guarantee that the referral was accepted. He said the team just want to see the right words to tick the box for referral and sure enough his referral was accepted.

Our GP's emergency referral (2 weeks he saids because my son suffered badly from psychosis) and accredited psychologist's report certainly did not tick their boxes. Someone from the media should do a full documentary on investigation on failing camhs, they should never be allowed to overwrite decisions made by medical professionals.

hiredandsqueak · 29/06/2020 21:44

Worst yes fully agree there should be a full investigation into the service and whether it's fit for purpose. The referral being accepted didn't mean we got what dd needed and my second complaint determined what dd needed wasn't available because of her IQ. I never got a response as to why, when they had acknowledged that what had been offered was unsuitable, did they offer more of the same when I complained about them proposing to discharge dd.

OhTheRoses · 29/06/2020 23:07

But what do we do? Do we all send a copy of this thread to our MPs copied to Matt Handcock? And ask for a response personally in our real names?

It seems rather more pressing than getting VAT knocked off Tampa!

OhTheRoses · 29/06/2020 23:28

Sadly I don't think they treat anything. They assess repetitively so they can evidence there is no need to treat because they have assessed as not being at immediate risk.

10brokengreenbottles · 29/06/2020 23:31

Punx When you receive the SARS correspondence cross reference the information from the different sources e.g. emails between school and LA should be in both, but it's not uncommon for them not to be. Especially if you already get the feeling you aren't being told everything/the truth.

In our case the LA did not disclose an email chain that showed they intended to do something despite having evidence DS1's MH would be at further risk. Unfortunately for them it was in the bundle from the other professional.

DD self harmed, had suicidal thoughts ,did get a CAMHs appointment a year later. The a report 6monrhs later saying they cannot help but would refer for a diagnosis of ?autism.
Our go chases this up several times,3 years after seeing chams we had an assesment(last October)and a diagnosis last week. And leaflets giving us websites for help.
My DD was 13 at the start and is now 17.We were lucky,my GP saw her weekly through the crisis, then monthly and now is available if needed. My DD feels that there was a safety net for her,an immediate response from someone who cares, and she doesnt use it because that safety lets her work out when she needs the help and when she just needs time. Our go is wise and on this .
If coarse the diagnosis and helpful leaflets are woefully late for a 17 year old and neither if us know what we are supposed to do with this diagnosis.

Go=GP

WhiteC0sm05 · 30/06/2020 06:38

Do you think Matt Hancock et al know and just don’t care.

Another night spent until the small hours on this. I’ve read NICE guidelines. So many don’t seem to be happening. Cleariy stigma and discrimination are being used to not give treatment for a variety of reasons(whatever can be used). Then there is the shitness and unprofessionalism....

I don’t believe this is not well known. There are enough reports and reviews out there wen you google.

Crosswithlifeatm, your DD's GP sound so caring, truely lucky, does he/she prescribe medicine for your DD? If so, what kind?

Punxsutawney · 30/06/2020 08:21

White GP's definitely seem to know how bad things are.

I spoke to our GP after Ds's referral was rejected and she was very sorry. She told me it wasn't good enough and actually apologised on behalf of the NHS for the lack of care.

No action ever seems to be taken though.

endlessginandtonic · 30/06/2020 14:21

Honestly I would have thought the problems with CAMHS were well known.
There are plenty of reports about it.
As someone else on this thread has said you don't get the label of a Cinderella service if people don't know that there is a problem.

WhiteC0sm05 · 30/06/2020 16:09

Nothing in Boris’s speech then re kids getting to see the clinicians they need.

mogloveseggs · 30/06/2020 17:12

Well.
After self referring to social services as camhs said there was no family support available at all just the cbt for Dd, now camhs is offering a meeting to discuss how to support us better!
I haven't replied yet am bloody fuming.

JoyFreeCake · 30/06/2020 17:29

Wankers.

fairgame84 · 01/07/2020 08:16

We finally had our psychiatry appointment yesterday and DS is being prescribed antidepressants. The psychiatrist was fabulous, I was really impressed. 1st good experience with camhs!

WhiteC0sm05 · 01/07/2020 08:22

Fair have you had any other therapy?

OP posts:
Bubbletrouble43 · 01/07/2020 08:24

The only thing I know of them is that a friend whose daughter was depressed and self harming was put on a long waiting list and by the time she got to see someone was told her daughter was too old to be under their remit.

fairgame84 · 01/07/2020 17:31

@WhiteC0sm05 he's had 9 sessions with camhs in 2018 and ongoing weekly sessions with the school psychologist since (special school) and this hasn't helped. I've really pushed for medication for him and so have school.
