What does this word mean to you?

Might be a bit cheeky but it’s the subject of my dissertation and I’ve found the research fascinating so far. So, fun little experiment (don’t read other people’s comments before answering and give your instinctive answer, don’t think about it too hard!)

What does the word ‘success‘ mean to you?

Winning

Achieving your goals.

Being happy with yourself

Achieveing what you set out to achieve. There may be luck involved. In life and careers, there very often is.

Success as a more general, outwardly observed descriptor; 'she is a very successful person', has as much to do with attitude, arrogance, luck and often ruthlessly focussed ambition, as achievement. Some 'successful people' are hyper-motivated, hard-working 'a-types' but many are lucky, manipulative and rely on it being more effort to challenge them than to roll over and acquiesce to their demands. They are not necessarily particularly capable or clever, or the best at actually doing what they do. So they may be outwardly successful, subjectively successful, in terms of status and position, without being particularly good at achieveing objectively measured tasks.

Getting first place.

Money. No financial worries.
