Might be a bit cheeky but it’s the subject of my dissertation and I’ve found the research fascinating so far. So, fun little experiment (don’t read other people’s comments before answering and give your instinctive answer, don’t think about it too hard!)

What does the word ‘success‘ mean to you?

Success = happy with your achievements.

teaflake · 26/06/2020 02:36

A budgie.

flukeshot · 26/06/2020 02:57

It means happiness to me. If you have the things that make you feel happy and peaceful.

eaglejulesk · 26/06/2020 03:08

Being happy and content with your life, being a good person.

SpaghettiBalonzaise · 26/06/2020 03:10

Doing well in life, achieving what you wanted and being happy with it

ShopTattsyrup · 26/06/2020 03:19

Being happy ... just that I suppose

ToddlerBumpBorderCollie · 26/06/2020 03:45

Not worrying about anything - bills, job politics, the house, kids progress. Just being happy with where everyone and everything In my own little bubble is at.

LunaMay · 26/06/2020 03:54

Having enough money

MrsWembley · 26/06/2020 03:58

Winning...

MyShinyWhiteTeeth · 26/06/2020 04:04

It's not just achieving something but realising that you've achieved something and celebrating it rather than just moving the goal posts.

Happiness
Seeingadistance · 26/06/2020 04:17

Doing what you set out to do.

springrollover · 26/06/2020 04:24

Contentment, of your soul

TakemedowntoPotatoCity · 26/06/2020 04:35

Men and women probably have, by and large, different answers to this question.

springrollover · 26/06/2020 04:41

Before I became chronically ill with 3 conditions that are life long and totally life altering I would have said the usual achievement of your career, financial security, nice home etc
Now for me with all that taken away, regardless of anything else success to me is totally focused on peace of mind & contentment of the soul.
Jobs, money, social standing, perfect house pales totally into insignificance. It's about being at peace with yourself.

Phrowzunn · 26/06/2020 04:44

Happiness, love, fulfilment.

Blondebakingmumma · 26/06/2020 04:45

Success means to me achieving a goal. Goal is can vary health goal, academic, physical, family, career, the arts etc

Limpshade · 26/06/2020 04:56

I like to think I define my own success by happiness, but if I'm honest, if I heard someone described as a "successful person", I'd probably associate the "successful" part with wealth and status, and guess they were a CEO type.

FrenchFancie · 26/06/2020 06:27

On a general level, having achieved x goal.

On a personal level - being happy, having a decent standard of living and having happy kids.

InfiniteSheldon · 26/06/2020 06:31

Finished

SecretWitch · 26/06/2020 06:34

Success to me occurs when a person is financially and emotionally comfortable.

1066vegan · 26/06/2020 06:43

I'm autistic so take things literally. My first thought was that it's a synonym for a pass (test or exam) or meeting a goal or target.

If the question was phrased differently eg "What would your successful life look like?" I'd have spent longer thinking about it and come up with a different answer.

Judethe0bscure · 26/06/2020 06:43

Self -actualisation
