To think even on a hot night it's absurd to sleep with no covering?

Dh is snoring away, on top of the sheet we are using on the bed on this roasting night.

It's discombobulating. Clearly the man is a psychopath.

Sleep naked with a towel. Honestly, it works so much better than even thin sheets at keeping moisture away.

BTW the monsters only get you if you can see them. If you just cover your head under the pillow they can't touch you, it's one of their rules.

Nutrigrainygoodness · 25/06/2020 10:52

Last night 1 leg was under the duvet
trying to trick the monsters but the rest of me was uncovered. DP on the other hand was wrapped firmly in the duvet like a burrito, and then she came over to my side of the bed and tried to share my pillow. Not a chance mate, off to your own side 🤣

PolloDePrimavera · 25/06/2020 10:53

I also need a murderer proof duvet but my legs stay out. I have to have it covering my mouth after reading the statistic about how many spiders you eat in your sleep. 😶.

bluefoxmug · 25/06/2020 10:55

yanbu
that's disturing.
I also find it disturbing in science fiction films when the beds are just planks without any coverings or pillows.

Shannith · 25/06/2020 10:57

@endoplasmicreticulum has a good point re the spiders and their willies.

If they enjoy rubbing them over washing that is left out overnight (including duvet sheets, for which I believe they have a firm preference) are we safer under or over said covers when indoors?

It's an interesting factor to add into the burglar/monster protection equation.

Are we repelling those, all the while attracting roaming spiders and their duvet loving willies?

It could, all other things being equal, be viewed as a basic 2 evils vs. 1 scenario, but it does rather depend on what weight of terror you attribute to death by monsters/burglars/spiders.

I'm torn.

SauvignonBlanketyBlank · 25/06/2020 10:57

Mine dh does it too.I have to be covered

Shannith · 25/06/2020 10:58

After further thought...

Maybe you have the ideal solution with one of you under and one over.

Covering (or uncovering) all bases as it were.

Lollee · 25/06/2020 11:00

You all sound bonkers. If people can sleep easier and cooler naked then that makes them normal and YOU abnormal. I just pray your comments are sarcasm or attempts at humour if not I can understand why we are all going to hell in a hand cart. Try being married to a real psychopath and you would not use the word so lightly for someone who prefers to sleep naked.

EndoplasmicReticulum · 25/06/2020 11:01

Shannith I didn't think about the duvet attracting them. I was worried about being without a layer of thin material between me and the spiders. Although my face is exposed.
Arrrgh. May never sleep again.

AlCalavicci · 25/06/2020 11:03

@StrawberrySquash, @HappyintheHills, @HemulenHouse you lot are great ! nobody should allow them selves to be darked on.

I went to bed under a summer duvet , but threw it of during the night while asleep so I got darked on too . WHAT DO I DO NOW ? [SHOCK]

This thread has given me a good chuckle

Shannith · 25/06/2020 11:07

@EndoplasmicReticulum you are welcome

@Lollee I hope it's clear we are all exaggerating for comic effect. If not, I promise we are. It's pretty standard on here and in no way is meant to degenerate anyone who has genuine problems.

I'm mean, spiders don't actually rub their willows on me when I'm asleep.

Or do they? One of life's many strange he questions that I only ever feel the need to consider when dicking about on Mumsnet.

Muffey · 25/06/2020 11:12

Your dh is being absurd. The monsters will definitely get him without duvet protection 😞

Nutrigrainygoodness · 25/06/2020 11:13

@Shannith I think spiders actually do rub their Willie's across peoples face at night, they possibly come in on the washing you have just brought in because you don't want it to get darked on 🤣

My mum actually woke up with a massive dead house spider in her mouth one morning. I wanted to tape my mouth closed at night for weeks afterwards 🤮

NoWordForFluffy · 25/06/2020 11:16

@superram

I just feel weird-I’d rather be hot, no idea why.
Yes! Me too.

He's very odd indeed.

Woeismethischristmas · 25/06/2020 11:18

I'm the same as a pp can't sleep without the weight of a duvet over me. I like a proper heavy one too. Not a fan of hollowfibre.

MilerVino · 25/06/2020 11:19

If it helps, spiders don't have willies, they have pedipalps.

ILikeyourHairyHands · 25/06/2020 11:24

Maniacs. I sprawled in the nip last night. Monsters hold no fear for me.

forgetthehousework · 25/06/2020 11:35

It doesn'tGrin
AmazingBouncingFerret · 25/06/2020 12:00

I deposited the duvet to the floor on my side of the bed and slept naked and spreadeagled with one foot hanging off the edge so that it was slightly touching the duvet that was lying crumpled on the floor.

TerrorWig · 25/06/2020 12:40

So long as the sheet is touching me it counts as cover.

QuestionableMouse · 25/06/2020 12:46

@thatmustbenigelwiththebrie

I slept in the cellar last night as it was lovely and cool. Very hard floor though.
God you're hard.

My last house had a cellar and it was the creepiest place ever. Full of bugs and damp and probably murderers hiding in the shadows. 😲😲😲😂😂😂

MitziK · 25/06/2020 12:47

I was debating murder last night, thanks to a FUCKING WINTERWEIGHT QUILT the DFuckingTwat decided to put over me and TUCK ME IN.

Can I have your bloke instead, please? You can have mine, he's more housetrained than feral.

QuestionableMouse · 25/06/2020 12:47

@Jellybeansincognito

The ‘yes he’s putting himself at risk of being murdered’ response has me in stitches.

Why do we feel so exposed without any covering? I mean... if someone was there, a duvet cover isnt stopping anything is it! 🤣

I need my feet covered or my cat spends the night attacking them. 😂😂😂
Shannith · 25/06/2020 13:11

@Nutrigrainygoodness I did not hear that. My old flat mate at uni woke up with a massive house spider in his glass of water. He noticed it after he drank some of it.

He was amazingly unbothered and did not immediately leave the country. His reasoning was that at least it wasn't a mouse - which would have been entirely possible, in fact, more likely in that house.

Shannith · 25/06/2020 13:12

I however never quite recovered and still to this day do a quite infinitesimal check whenever I get thirsty in the night.
