B1rdbra1n, I would say that it is likely that Mick Jagger (and maybe the rest of the Stones) dislikes dictators and their bully-boys as he has always done, and is intelligent enough to recognise one when he sees it. Someone can be a conservative without being a fascist, even now.

I suspect it may be more to do with ethics than morals: sleeping around with consenting adults and condemning children to incarceration without their parents are ever so slightly different on the scale of reprehensible human behaviour.

(And he really shouldn't have to be his ex-wife's keeper!)

Listening to some of those nutjobs makes me understand how Trump got elected. I'm not sure how the panel kept a straight face I'm not sure what Crimes against Humantity the poor doctor (Fauci has committed) but so far all I can see he did wrong is not injecting Trump with Coronavirus when he had the chance
lionheart · 28/06/2020 16:44

I forgot that about Jerry Hall but if we are talking ex-wives don't forget he was also married to Bianca, Nicaraguan, educated in political science and very much involved in human rights.

She also was prominent at the London march against Trump (the first one I believe).

Jagger himself has also spoken against Trump on environmental issues. Smile

The writer of this piece on treason has re-posted it. From two years ago.

I think SBC was phenomenal in that stunt. Showing these loons for who they are simply by letting them do what they do. Genius.

lionheart · 28/06/2020 18:25

Stephen King has retweeted the JKR Dworkin tweet.

Interesting to see the responses to that.

lionheart · 28/06/2020 18:26

Sorrywrong threadmulti-tasking.

lionheart · 28/06/2020 18:27

... although he does have a lot to say about Trump and co.

Trump deleted his 'white power' retweet.

Does anyone remember those early arguments about whether he was allowed to delete his own tweets given their official status as pronouncements of the POTUS?

Seems like a very long time ago.

Mrsmorton · 28/06/2020 18:37

Oh yeah, if you look at the white house insta account it has some sort of disclaimer about comments being archived. Does his own account have similar rules? There's no disclaimer on his own insta. Good question.

BruceAndNosh · 28/06/2020 18:53

Is it possible to report a retweet to Twitter?
There's a big difference between some random dofus posting about White Power and President Dofus retweeting it to several million followers.

Roussette · 28/06/2020 19:34

I think SBC was phenomenal in that stunt

Yes, and he got them all to sing along which was amusing.

You can report the retweet, I'm pretty sure. But it's gone now anyway.

I've wondered for a few weeks now that he might choose to drop out (that would fit with his narcissism - blame something/someone else as the reason rather than being labelled a loser). But it's also my fear that a new Republican candidate would galvanise the GOP ditherers (who currently may not have the stomach to vote for 4 years of Trump) and thus defeat Biden.

The UK is a mess but this is the US. Please never, ever OK gun ownership in the UK.

I saw different musings on Donald dropping out too. I just cannot imagine it. He has to win at everything. Dropping out would be a weakness and he just doesn't do displaying weakness.

He walked slowly down a ramp and had to spend 5 minutes at a Rally explaining that he really really didn't!

lionheart · 29/06/2020 11:12

He could craft a narrative about his health and how he sacrificed himself for the country.

B1rdbra1n · 29/06/2020 11:17

There was that recent interview where he said (in reference to Biden) 'he's going to be your president'
So yes I think he might drop out!

lionheart · 29/06/2020 11:24

Not enough love for him.

BruceAndNosh · 29/06/2020 11:27

Trump has 4 options
1)Run and win. This is looking increasingly unlikely according to polls.
2) Run and lose. He doesn't do losing.
3) Want to run, but the GOP decides another candidate might give them a better chance of retaining power. This would count as losing to Trump.
4) Decide himself not to run. This most probably is the most attractive to him. He can't face losing and if he somehow did win, he's then got to face 4 years of clearing up the shit show he's created.

I'm hoping he'll gracefully retire then he can spend the next 10 years griping at presidents 46, 47 and 48, and making another fortune at pay per view event s to Meet the Donald.

BruceAndNosh · 29/06/2020 11:29

@lionheart

He could craft a narrative about his health and how he sacrificed himself for the country.
Yes, it will be some very manly medical reason and definitely not dementia. Maybe a recurrence of his bone spurs?
AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 29/06/2020 11:40

I think if he drops out quite a lot of pigeons will come home to roost for him on 21st January 2021 and thereafter. I doubt he will be protected against lawsuits mounted against him because of embezzlement, tax fraud, defaulting on debt and so on after that. I suspect that even a Republican president might choose not to protect him, and I am quite sure a Democrat one wouldn't see the need to.

The lawsuits will probably take in the more criminal members of his immediate family as well.

That is likely to be what he is afraid of at this point. If he had not had the hubris to run for President and thought that winning meant he could literally get away with murder, he would not face the nemesis that awaits him.
