To get the rage seeing 'loose' instead of 'lose'

Calyx72 · 20/06/2020 22:03

I mean come ON

Lose and loose don't even sound the same

It's just so annoying Angry

Anyone else feel the same?
Any other rage inducing errors out there?

OP posts:
Magicbabywaves · 20/06/2020 22:06

It’s annoying, but actually I think they should be the other way around as lose sounds like the long vowel sound is spelt double o.

borntohula · 20/06/2020 22:07

To/too
There/they're/their
'Could of' instead of 'could have'
'His' instead of 'he's'
Your/you're

All annoying

Euclid · 20/06/2020 22:07

Very many I am afraid. "myself" instead of me or I, depending on the context. My pet hate is the misuse of I instead of me, eg he gave it to John and I.

Noshowlomo · 20/06/2020 22:07

I agree OP!!

LovingLola · 20/06/2020 22:08

Bare with me
Reign it in
Clicks (usually but not always school mums)
And would of, could of, should of

ilovesooty · 20/06/2020 22:08

Rage? Really?

thistimelastweek · 20/06/2020 22:10

I set store by good grammar, spelling and punctuation.
But I don't 'get a rage ' if other people make mistakes. There are worse offences in life.

MondeoFan · 20/06/2020 22:10

Oh yeah I'm the same

Does anyone no how to........arghhhh

Draws for sale

QuestionableMouse · 20/06/2020 22:11

Do we really need another thread on this?

missmouse101 · 20/06/2020 22:12

Yes, I rage too. It comes from years of suppressing it because you get told you're a prick if you point these things out. You're and your incorrectly used are also rage-worthy.

Nickname21 · 20/06/2020 22:13

You need to get a life if this gives you the rage. Maybe take an anger management course?

LovingLola · 20/06/2020 22:14

Do we really need another thread on this?

Who made you the boss?

Nickname21 · 20/06/2020 22:14

@QuestionableMouse

Do we really need another thread on this?
Second one today
Samcro · 20/06/2020 22:16

What gives me the rage is pendants who don't use the pendant topic
😈😈😈

NookIsACrook · 20/06/2020 22:17

I have a couple of family involved in weight loss pyramid / mlm scams at the moment and they all post shit like "want to loose weight for summer? Hit my inbox up"

I don't get the rage and spelling mistakes don't usually bother me but I see it that often, it's started to look weird when I see it written correctly.

ComDummings · 20/06/2020 22:17

Don’t loose your shit over it Wink

ExclamationPerfume · 20/06/2020 22:17

It's ect I keep seeing instead of etc.

LillianBland · 20/06/2020 22:18

I no your cross OP but you need to losen up. 😈

borntohula · 20/06/2020 22:18

@Samcro ha I see what you did there.

Nickname21 · 20/06/2020 22:18

A real pedant would use the correct topic. I'm only mildly miffed that they used the wrong topic though. Not raging.

Divebar · 20/06/2020 22:21

Oh yes ect and loose - top two offenders every time. I want to correct it every time. The ones I have problems with are effect and affect. ( it doesn’t mind how many times I look it up I can never remember it when I come to use it)

MissMaple82 · 20/06/2020 22:21

You've got serious problems if someone's spelling gives you "the rage" how very judgemental, you need to get a life!

Palegreenstars · 20/06/2020 22:25

I’m really bad at spelling. I regularly look at lose and loose for ages trying to work out which one I need. I make most of the other mistakes that always get mentioned on these threads.

I have a job that involves writing huge proposals but I always have to get someone else To proof them which can be embarrassing. I don’t have time to ask someone to proof every email or text and tbh I know I don’t confuse context with a bit of shite spelling so I’ve given up worrying. I’m not an idiot and other people aren’t better than me because that comes easily to them. It can make some people feel superior and so if you need that feeling in you’re life go ahead. (Spag intended this time).

2020times · 20/06/2020 22:25

Meh, I'm dyslexic - I also grew up relatively poor which meant I went to a not great junior school. So my spelling and grammar aren't great. It's hardly the end of your world, is it?

XDownwiththissortofthingX · 20/06/2020 22:27

It's one of the things that has become an instant 'don't bother reading the remainder of the post' things for me when I come across it on here.

Common in posts by people who type a massive long story but don't use sentences or paragraphs, and usually there will be a 'could of' or 'must of' in there, and a 'too/to' for good measure.

I could almost understand it if it was common with people for whom English is their second language, but it's invariably native speakers. I use 'speakers' because they certainly can't write or type in English worth a damn.
