WIBU to complain?

Okay so I’ve had some cupcakes and a tray cake delivered to my husband at work, for Father’s Day tomorrow. He loves cake and I thought it could brighten up a long week at work by having them delivered.
He loves them, and is very grateful of the delivery, but he’s sent me some pictures and honestly I’m a little bit disappointed.
The cupcakes look lovely but the tray cake honestly doesn’t, it only cost £15 for the tray cake but when I look at other tray cakes she’s done I honestly don’t feel mine is worth the money. I’m going to wait until he gets home but WIBU to complain or would you just leave it, providing it all tastes lovely of course.

Take pictures and taste it, then decide.

Has she rushed out FD orders? How bad is it?

TARSCOUT · 20/06/2020 10:15

Always bring any short failings to a businesses attention. There may be a legitimate reason which makes them change how they do or advertise thing and better a reasonable customer brings it to their attention as opposed to someone who doesn't give them a chance to rectify things.

Monkeytapper · 20/06/2020 10:15

Show us some photos and we can decide.

Ilovecats23 · 20/06/2020 10:20

I’m slightly nervous to post any photos because I don’t want it to be outing for the business at all, but then you can’t really help me without them 🤦‍♀️

If it looks different to the advertised photos I don’t think yabu to complain, or at least question why it is not as expected.

Pipandmum · 20/06/2020 10:26

Of course give feedback. It doesn't have to be nasty. Just tell the business that while you loved the cupcakes you felt the traybake was not up to the standard you were expecting. It's the kind of business that relies on repeat orders so I'm sure they would appreciate knowing.

LouiseTrees · 20/06/2020 10:39

It won’t be outing. We don’t know what area of the country you are in and there are probably hundreds of businesses like hers.

Pelleas · 20/06/2020 10:42

I would taste it before giving feedback. Personally, if it tasted delicious all else would be forgiven! Cake

Ilovecats23 · 20/06/2020 10:47

Okay so this is the cake I’ve received!

She’s such a lovely person and the cupcakes we received look lovely (although half of them are the wrong flavour) so I don’t want to upset her at all! It’s got to be stressful around holidays. I just really wanted and was expecting more!

@Ilovecats23 I would get in touch with them OP. That looks nothing like what has been advertised :(

WombatStewForTea · 20/06/2020 10:53

Yeh that looks awful Shock I'd definitely say something to her to explain your disappointment!

Hamm87 · 20/06/2020 10:53

They one you got is crap and the that price I would complain I charge half that for tray bakes and would never send one out like that

eyesbiggerthanstomach · 20/06/2020 10:54

They look nothing alike! I would complain politely.

Ilovecats23 · 20/06/2020 11:09

Okay good, I just wanted to make sure I wasn’t expecting too much. Thanks guys, I’ll message them!

ECBC · 20/06/2020 11:36

The topping looks a bit odd? Did you request the H? If so she may just have done that instead of the chocolate toppers?

ECBC · 20/06/2020 11:37

Hate to say it but I thought it was shepherds pie at first glance 😂

Moltenpink · 20/06/2020 11:40

Depends what type you ordered though doesn’t it? I mean, if you didn’t order a biscoff one then I wouldn’t expect biscoff to appear on it?

Mummytime1 · 20/06/2020 11:41

@ECBC I thought the same Grin

What’s the words say? @Ilovecats23

Treesandbreeze · 20/06/2020 11:41

I agree it looks like it’s been done in a real rush. I wouldn’t even be happy if I decorated that myself , for myself! I would send your picture along with what was advertised and say something like , “do you agree it looks a bit different” she may then offer the refund.

PhilTheGroundhog · 20/06/2020 11:46

What flavour were the cupcakes?

The tray bake looks like a practice run, definitely not professional.

Emmagen · 20/06/2020 11:47

I don't think it looks much different? The icing looks very similar to the icing under the biscoff one just without biscuits on top. The only difference I can see is that the box is white not brown.

I'll admit I can't read the topper.

And I think the photography in the online pics are better than the quick snap your husband took which make yours look worse, but most advertising pics are very carefully taken!

MrsElijahMikaelson1 · 20/06/2020 11:48

That is not £15 worth of cake so yes complain

Namechangex10000 · 20/06/2020 11:53

I would have to point out the difference (presumably you expected something similar to the first photo, which looks appealing) you don’t have to be rude, and politely discussing it would help her out in the long wrong to not make the same mistake!
