WIBU to complain?

Okay so I’ve had some cupcakes and a tray cake delivered to my husband at work, for Father’s Day tomorrow. He loves cake and I thought it could brighten up a long week at work by having them delivered.
He loves them, and is very grateful of the delivery, but he’s sent me some pictures and honestly I’m a little bit disappointed.
The cupcakes look lovely but the tray cake honestly doesn’t, it only cost £15 for the tray cake but when I look at other tray cakes she’s done I honestly don’t feel mine is worth the money. I’m going to wait until he gets home but WIBU to complain or would you just leave it, providing it all tastes lovely of course.

I could've done a better job with that icing and I am like a seal when it comes to creative cuisine.

You've been robbed OP. It looks like she drop kicked it during delivery.

Oh hold on! Just saw photo 3 above. They all look like I've iced them. YABU OP.

LimpidPools · 20/06/2020 12:08

Got to agree - in picture 3 you can see that the icing is always pretty slapdash. Bit usually there's some biscuit crumbs or chocolates or whatever to distract. All you've got is an illegible plastic sign. What does it say? I can't make it out and it's annoying me.

That said, I think you should get in touch to say it was underwhelming and the cupcakes were wrong. Sympathetic feedback and an opportunity to rectify is good for a business. Much better than somebody losing their shit and slating them on social media further down the line.

StCharlotte · 20/06/2020 12:08

I wouldn't complain as it looks no more slapdash than the ones she's advertising. Fewer random biscuits I guess.

Is the one you got meant to be one of the ones in the photos? If not, what should it look like?

If you ordered something without a photo it doesn't seem right to complain it doesn't look like what you ordered. If it tastes awful that is another matter.

It’s all sorted now guys thank you! There was a mix up with the cupcakes flavours and she has completely understood why I’m disappointed in the tray cake! She offered a part refund which I’m happy with. The cake topper says worlds best daddy as it’s from our young DCs (as well as a handmade footprint picture that they’re super proud of and I love!) honestly I think it was mostly miscommunication on both our parts, I should have been clearer with exactly what I wanted rather than giving a rough flavour and saying I was happy for her to do what she likes. Thanks for all the feedback!

I'm glad it's sorted it looks rubbish.

£15 is very cheap for a cake though.

labazsisgoingmad · 20/06/2020 14:35

thats awful even i could do better! mind the ones on the website you showed us i dont think they are that marvellous either seen a lot better

monkeymonkey2010 · 20/06/2020 14:47

Your cake looks like cottage/shepherd pie with garnish used for writing!
I think she fobbed you off with a custom made cake someone else refused!

BrightYellowDaffodil · 20/06/2020 15:02

£15 is very cheap for a cake though.

Not necessarily for a traybake.
