AIBU to think my friend can make £2k in a month?

This is unrelated to my other freelancing thread :)
My friend needs to make 2k in July due to unforeseen circumstances, won't go into details and not a begging thread.
I think as a one off, if she thinks about it now she could pull it off. She doesn't have kids so has lots of time (her words not mine!) and doesn't need to actually be paid for it in July, ideally in August.

I think she could do a combination of:
ebay/facebook marketplace selling
Making and selling face masks (she has a sewing machine and is very clever at stitching so would be easy for her)
Online surveys/e-moderation
Social media moderating
Transcribing

I wondered if Mumsnet thought it was possible and whether you've all got any other creative ideas? :)
Thank you in advance!

I transcribed for years. It’s awful pay, very frustrating most of the time, loads of people vying for work and now there’s voice activated software it’s a dying trade anyway.

I really wouldn't class cloudworkers as a form of prostitution - from my experience with those over on the £10 a day thread that do use the site it's quite rarely sex chat, and more often people just looking for light, flirty conversation. It was purely suggested as an option because it is something the friend could start within days if it's something she is comfortable with.

If it's just anonymous dirty talk then fine but if OP recommends her friend sells naked photos and cam work or other more 'hands on' sex work, it's going down a dark path, that in my view no one should encourage their friend to take.

That friend would have to be OK with the fact that those photos may be online for other people to view, forever. I know from experience, knowing someone who did this and regretted it, that it seems like easy money but it is not.

The insidious thing is that there are online pimps operating on various websites, who get commission for signing strangers up to these cam sites, making out its a fun and sexy way to make a few bob. Some people who recommend this stuff have a financial interest in it.

Knowing the reason she needs £2k all of a sudden might also help - people might be able to signpost to other sources of help depending on what's what.

For those worried about webcam/only fans pics and being identifiable forevermore, wear a facemask, I sure covid porns probably a thing by now

Question about matched betting - now do you make lots of money when you don’t have a decent float to begin with?

I tried it a couple of years ago, just couldn’t get my head round it properly but I started with only about £50. Can’t remember what I made but I don’t think it was much more than £200.

AlternativePerspective · 23/06/2020 10:28

Matched betting isn’t the money maker people make it out to be unless you already have money.

You can make money with sign-ups to begin with but once those run out very few people make money from it long term. And more people actually lose money because it’s a complicated art and if you do it wrong you stand to lose a lot.

pistolknight · 23/06/2020 13:52

But it can be. My son started last week with help from me and is 250 up already. He started with 100 offers don't have to be complicated after the sign ups but like anything the more you put in, the more you get out. Profit rush is free and takes you through step by step

CaveMum · 23/06/2020 15:25

TerrorWig the key is to keep on doing the offers and not take out any money until you have a decent sized float. I started with £25 and didn’t touch a penny until I had made about £3,000.

You need the float to keep doing the bigger and more lucrative offers, but it’s certainly not “easy” money, you need time and patience to be able to do it.

I’ve been doing it 2.5 years now, I work and have two small children so don’t get a lot of time to spend on it, though I have diversified into casino offers which can pay big, but not often. My monthly profits now range anything between £300-£1,000 though the last few months have been very quiet for obvious reasons.

Thanks. That's what I thought. I was doing it as well as a full time job and tbh I just couldn't be arsed expending the brainpower to make some serious winnings. DH doesn't have the brainpower to spare Grin
