Wingless pads

Meredithgrey1 · 19/06/2020 09:10

DH went to the shop this morning and I asked him to get me some pads. He got the right ones (by brand and flow) but got the kind without wings.

I know, since they make them, there must be a market for them. But without wings feels less secure to me, they move more, they leak more (especially at night).

Am I using them wrong? Is there a benefit I'm not seeing? Do they just not leak for some people? Women who use wingless pads, please enlighten me!

I’ve never understood the point of the ones with no wings?

MummaGiles · 19/06/2020 09:13

I don’t like the ones with wings. They irritate me more.

TheGreatWave · 19/06/2020 09:18

I prefer without wings, the folds irritate me.

PotholeParadise · 19/06/2020 09:18

I only use wingless ones in conjunction with a tampon. Really don't like wingless in general. My mother only bought those when I was a teen and I always got leakages. As soon as I discovered winged ones, I bought those!

TheEmojiFormerlyKnownAsPrince · 19/06/2020 09:21

The ones with wings turn changing a pad into a war. I hate them, they stick to everything

Betteb · 19/06/2020 09:53

Hate wings with a passion, very irritating to the skin at top of inner thighs.

WowLucky · 19/06/2020 10:01

Oh dear, I feel old. There were no wings when I got my first period Grin

I find the wings end up causing the pad to roll up into a sausage shape, or they become detached and stick to my pubes (see old, I still have those too) . Without is much more comfortable and no leaks with the new fangled moisture retentive cores.

actiongirl1978 · 19/06/2020 10:04

My DD12 uses wingless she prefers them.

wizzbangfizz · 19/06/2020 10:14

Couldn't live without wings! More leakage, wings defo feel more secure.

Scented pads are what give me the full on rage.

ShadowMane · 19/06/2020 10:21

i hate wings, and also trying to find without wings, always a nightmare

dayslikethese1 · 19/06/2020 10:22

Yeah I've never got that either; wingless just don't stay in the right place I find.

puffinkoala · 19/06/2020 10:29

I'm not really sure about wings. I tend to use the winged ones, but the blood can leak around the wings and you get just as much leakage.

Happy to derail this thread and go on about the scented ones...

ThanosSavedMe · 19/06/2020 10:31

Can't stand wings. I really hate it when that’s all you can find. And don’t get me started on scented ones 🤬

GuiltyBark · 19/06/2020 10:32

Wings stick to everything but the underside of the gusset. I prefer my kotex mattresses wingless.

I hate winged pads. They stick to any hair and cause leaking around the sides. It might be because my periods are really heavy. The only good winged pads are Bodyform ones, but even they aren't great.

BiddyPop · 19/06/2020 11:03

I had adapted to wings when they brought them out, but started wingless and they were generally fine.

The style of underwear that DD wears means she really really prefers wingless. So I am on the hunt to find those and always pick up a pack when I see them, even if not needed right then. As they are so hard to find nowadays.

pinktaxi · 19/06/2020 11:05

Wings all the way for me.

123th · 19/06/2020 11:06

Reusable have poppers on the wings - stay in place better and don't stick!

AJPTaylor · 19/06/2020 11:07

Dd will only have wingless for school in case people can see when changing for pe.

PintOfCoffeePlease · 19/06/2020 11:08

Scented pads are the true battle. I prefer wingless because the wings irritate me, but I would happily wear winged every day if it was guaranteed not to make me smell like a chemical factory. Nothing worse than opening a box of new pads and realising yet another bastard company has decided I want to smell like wafting toxic doom "flowers".

ThomasHardyPerennial · 19/06/2020 11:12

Wingless all the way! Their increased flexibility seems to make them more effective, for me at least. I always found if you fucked up the wings and they got stuck together, they were useless. Plus they are irritating.

snowybean · 19/06/2020 11:13

The only wings I like are chicken wings!

Wings on pads irritate me and get stuck to my hair. Ouch.

Ladderinmytights · 19/06/2020 11:25

Much prefer wingless but find them harder to find than ones with wings.

SarahTancredi · 19/06/2020 11:29

I found the whole pad stuck to anything but the pants properly and the wings were always impossible to adjust once you stuck them down.

I use reusables which have wings but poppers not glue. Do not miss the accidental Brazilians.
