Why are ASDA normalising paedophilia and Child Abuse?

Sunkisses · 16/06/2020 08:02

Is it OK for ASDA to send parents emails linking to an organisation that normalises paedophilia with red flag phrases such as "love has no age", and recommending books for children that contain explicit descriptions of child sex abuse? Why are they doing this? Are ASDA experts in home schooling and safeguarding? More details in this excellent thread by Safe Schools Alliance: twitter.com/SafeSchools_UK/status/1272638132589035520

This is horrifying. ASDA. A supermarket Confused

StripesWaterBlue · 16/06/2020 10:12

he Primary pack, reads like very normal sex ed resources

Does it? They talk to being attracted to people of the same sex or different sex to 7 year olds? That's wrong!
They can talk about different types of families by all means but talking about attraction is talking about sex. Completely inappropriate when dealing with 7-11 year olds.

Ninkanink · 16/06/2020 10:12

Wasn’t he actually pictured masturbating in the toilets at work? Or have I completely misremembered?

And then didn’t the NSPCC basically tell the parents and safeguarding experts who objected and said that this was deeply disturbing to just fuck off and stop being homophobic?

And wasn’t this the same individual who was insistent that parents had no right to have any idea what their children were getting up to online?

If anyone has the stomach for it, try googling current ‘queer theory.’

This is a huge, huge problem. It is all connected.

But we’re bigots, -phobic and hateful for challenging it.

StripesWaterBlue · 16/06/2020 10:12

*talk about

Thisisworsethananticpated · 16/06/2020 10:13

Why should the 10000s of innocent people
Who work for Asda , key workers too , get hit because some arse twat in corporate made a fuck up ?

JackiFazaki · 16/06/2020 10:15

I've emailed and copied in other safeguarding figures.

justanotherneighinparadise · 16/06/2020 10:16

I don’t require my brands to be political.

If I were an Asda customer (obviously no longer) I might be interested in my food reaching me with the least environmental damage as possible. I might be interested in animal welfare. I might be interested in knowing that the producers of this food has been given a fair wage or that the staff of Asda had good working conditions and were being paid a living wage including benefits such as maternity packages, holiday entitlement etc. I might only be interested in the food being cheap but edible with lots of deals and bargains to be had.

But I sure as hell would never be sitting around pondering their stance on gender diversification and teaching our children about sex. Never, ever ever would that enter my head.

ArriettyJones · 16/06/2020 10:17

Thanks @GingerBeverage

StripesWaterBlue · 16/06/2020 10:18

Love knows no age

What type of love are ASDA talking about when addressing 7-11 year olds? It's physical 'love', sex. Why does a supermarket want to educate my child about sex? Hmm

And before anyone ridicules this a a regressive outlook, we have talked to our dc about biology, how babies are made, periods, and that men can marry men / women can marry women since they were about 4.

But, there is no excuse for talking about sexual attraction to primary school children. None whatsoever.

Soubriquet · 16/06/2020 10:18

@Thisisworsethananticpated

Why should the 10000s of innocent people Who work for Asda , key workers too , get hit because some arse twat in corporate made a fuck up ?
Hitting them in the pocket is the only way corporate people will take notice

Unfortunately, everyone else becomes collateral damage

Redshoeblueshoe · 16/06/2020 10:18

Thisisworsethananticipated why do you think this was a fuck up ? I think it was absolutely intentional.

ArriettyJones · 16/06/2020 10:18

@Jumblebumblemess

Love knows no age????? Wtf am I reading from one of the biggest supermarkets in the world! Jesus I am gobsmacked and horrified that they are putting these "learning packs" out that are 'sponsored' by PIE.
Maybe it will take a couple of major scandals for these virtue blithering corporations to get back in their lanes.
frostedviolets · 16/06/2020 10:18

This is beyond horrendous.

CloudsCanLookLikeSheep · 16/06/2020 10:19

@SerenityNowwwww

I remember the 70s. Sure there was a group around back then with a similar motto. What was it again? Cake, bin, pastie, tart...? Someone will remember?
Actually PIE did have an age of 'consent'. It was 4Shock
MagisCapulus · 16/06/2020 10:20

Omg

I would like to write to the school flagging this but dint have the words . Just so they can warn parents.

Can someone pretty please compose an email for me?

justanotherneighinparadise · 16/06/2020 10:22

And I am also actively teaching my primary aged kids about relationships, both gay and straight and have made my seven year old very aware that whoever he chooses to have a relationship with when he’s older it’s absolutely fine with me. Everyone welcome.

But still Asda, get to fuck with your seedy associations with charities who have no interest in safe guarding my children. Due diligence. You are no longer family friendly.

Beerincomechampagnetastes · 16/06/2020 10:23

I’m not sure my email to the CEO was very articulate tbh.
The subject read: Why is your company normalising the sexual abuse of children?

Schools are deep into this.

A perusal of the themes of the George at Asda clothing ranges, especially for children, is interesting.

The above is only what they are selling currently. I was walking past their children's clothing range last summer and was struck by the prevalence of mermaids, rainbows and unicorns.

Maybe it's just a strange coincidence?

DJLippy · 16/06/2020 10:31

Some background on the NSPCC furore. Twitter have a role to play for banning accounts which point out safeguarding concerns.

makemorenoisemanc.wixsite.com/mysite/post/nspcc-speak-out-get-banned

StripesWaterBlue · 16/06/2020 10:32

No doubt ASDA managers damage controlling this today will label MN as hysterical and send out some lukewarm response about supporting diversity and wanting to support children with their learning.

Let's see how this pans out baring in mind how everyone seems to have sided against JKR sensible and responsible outlook.

ProfessorSlocombe · 16/06/2020 10:32

The extract from that Magenta book re oral sex and six year olds is utterly repulsive

www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-19574487

hoodathunkit · 16/06/2020 10:32

I suspect that Asda have been caught out - just as the government, schools and countless businesses by assuming that because something has been produced or suggested by one of the many LGBT++ organisations, that it's OK.

I also suspect that this is the case

As several posters have pointed out above, when you work in safeguarding / with children you know that predators will exploit any loophole to access children for their own reasons. But we've created a group where to even raise a concern, including about safeguarding, is now see as homophobic or transphobic.

This is a horrifying truth that needs to be repeated and understood widely

The initial response of the NSPCC when an employee was caught posting photos online of himself in fetish gear in the toilets in the workplace was to call everyone who objected "homophobic bigots". It took some time before they remembered their core purpose was safeguarding children and reined it all in and got rid of him. If that's the response of the leading children's safeguarding charity then how on earth can schools and companies like ASDA get this right?

good question
