Has anyone have experience with 2 consecutive missed miscarriage

Hi all,
I went for a scan today after having brown discharge for few days.They found a gestational sac without any fetal pole
I had another scan earlier at 6 weeks which showed a viable pregnancy.

I had another MMC in January and I thought having two MMC in a row is very rare.I know they would not offer me any tests unless I have another one in future.

I was wondering ,is there anyone here who had same experience in the past and then has successful pregnancy?

May be this is not the right time to ask this question but I really don't know how do I cope.I thought I can reach you guys.xx

This happened to me, OP. Two mmcs and I then went on to have a healthy baby. Wishing you lots of luck.

Yes, I did. We had been struggling with infertility for a few years and we conceived twice using clomid, but I had missed miscarriages for both. I had a real phobia of scans after that. I had an IVF baby later on and all went well, so there really is hope. Thinking of you.

I had 3. Then a healthy baby boy who is now a teenager.

A friend had 11. Yes, eleven. Then a surprise pregnancy and her little miracle is now 8.

I'm sorry you’ve gone through this. I know how heartbreaking it is because I’ve been in your shoes. My first pregnancy was a mmc at 11.5 weeks and my second was a MMC at 6.5 weeks. The odds of two consecutive miscarriages is about 3-4% (i did a lot of reading!) so it’s fairly rare but nearly every doctor and consultant I've seen, said it was ’bad luck’ which feels like zero consolation at the time.

My third pregnancy was successful though so don't lose hope. I got pregnant straight after my second miscarriage. The only thing I did differently was take baby asprin. I was convinced this made the difference but then I miscarried my fourth pregnancy and I took it with that one so maybe it didn't? I'm now pregnant again (6 months) and hopefully this one will be successful too (taking baby asprin again this time).

After my 3rd (non consecutive) miscarriage, I was desperate for testing but I saw a fertility consultant and she said they don't test unless i’d had 3 consecutive miscarriage and even when they do do testing, in most cases she doesn't find a cause and it gets classes as ’unexplained’. She then reiterated that it was most likely just bad luck - hard to hear but in the absence of testing I had to accept it.

I literally joined this forum after months of lurking just to answer this. This happened to me, I had a MMC discovered at my 12 week scan in Nov 2017, then another at 8 weeks in Sept 2018. I then had a chemical pregnancy in Feb 2019 (not-so-fun fact: on my birthday) before getting pregnant in June 2019 with my gorgeous 4 month old DS. No investigations done or treatment given, just "one of those things" according to my GP. (I didn't qualify for the investigations after three losses as they have to be clinically recongised losses with a scan and I managed the CP at home).

I spent hours and hours scouring the internet for success stories of people who had gone on to have healthy babies after consecutive MCs as at times i felt very very very bleak and hopeless. I wish you all the best, and I really hope you're ok. My miscarriages were honestly the darkest times so I send you my love and all the best for any future pregnancies.

It happened to me - I had had a previous late loss before 2 mmc so was referred and prescribed aspirin and progesterone from BFP. I went on to have a full term pregnancy and then another with no mc in between.

My consultant thought I was most likely hyper fertile but is an under researched area.

I cannot thank you enough for coming forward with your experiences and supporting me.Till yesterday morning,I used to wake up with happiness and thinking about the baby and all of a sudden everything has gone.I am trying to pull my pieces together.
I am 38 and getting anxious thinking my fertility is decreasing with time.

Yes, I did. IVF pregnancies both times. I am sorry this has happened to you too.

Yes. Lost two consecutive pregnancies at 12 and 10 weeks, having already had my DC1. Went on to have DC2 who was born healthy and very large at 37 weeks, and has now just turned 10 years old.

I wish you a successful and happy pregnancy in the very near future.

Me.

Three consecutive missed miscarriages. All at the 12 week scan. Fetus was always 10 weeks. Went on to have a healthy girl, no problems.

When my son was 5 I had a second trimester loss (baby had chromosome problems, we later had genetic testing which was fine so "just bad luck").

I went on clomid as my cycle was so erratic (I could go 10 months without a period though the baby mentioned above was somehow conceived naturally).

Got pregnant straight away. MMC at 10 weeks.

Next clomid cycle got pregnant straight away, twins this time (had early scans because of fertility drugs). MMC 8 weeks.

Had a break then clomid again, got pregnant, natural miscarriage at 6 weeks.

Then over the next year and a half three chemical pregnancies (faint positive, then a what seemed like a normal "period" a day or two later). These were natural and a cycle of sorts had returned. I wasn't allowed any more clomid. During this time I had a hysteroscopy abroad to check for functional issues and clean up scar tissue from the multiple pregnancies.

I then stopped getting pregnant at all. We went to a private ivf clinic specialising in older women. I was 39 by then. They did ALL the tests. The only one of concern was that my natural killer cells were high. This is quite common in older women as nature thinks you've probably finished your family and your immune system needs to get good and strong to help you care for your grandchildren apparently! I was recommended ivf with blood plasma transfusions when the embryos were put back, again at 6 weeks and 11 weeks. I also had a short luteal cycle for which progesterone support was recommended (to help an embryo have the chance to "bed in" properly).

Just before the ivf process I found out I was naturally pregnant! Nice strong positive! I had one blood plasma transfusion at 5 weeks plus progesterone support until 10 weeks. Decided not to have another transfusion as everything was looking great at a 9 week scan by NHS consultant. Just had a feeling all would be well and it was. My little girl is now 6.

My first 2 pregnancies ended in miscarriage, then a year later my eldest was born. That was nearly 17 yrs ago and we now have 5 DC!
Don't lose hope lovely, in all my successful pregnancies I then had spotting at the 7/8 week mark but thankfully everything was fine.

I tried for four years to conceive. I was told I had 'unexplained fertility' and was put on Clomid. I had two mmc one found at the 12 week scan in Feb 2011 and then at 9 weeks in July 2011. I'd had early

scans for both which showed a heartbeat and was devastated both times.

There was no reason given for the miscarriages but when I fell pregnant again in 2012 my consultant prescribed progesterone and I had my DS! I went on to have a DD two years later and conceived her on the first month of trying without clomid - I went to GP who prescribed me progesterone again. Also I was 37 when I had DD so please try not to worry about your age.

I sort of felt like my body need to figure out how to get pregnant and then how to stay pregnant if that makes sense?

I had 2 natural mcs then a mmc. Had treatment with steroids and progesterone for high NK cells and had my healthy son, then another mmc (unplanned pregnancy so not on treatment), then treated again and now 20 weeks pregnant and all well.

NHS tests showed nothing wrong with me so I went private. Worth considering if your next pregnancy doesn’t work out, though statistically the odds are very much in your favour. So sorry this has happened to you.

Thank you amazing people for your kind support and comforting words.With this covid situation when I am away from family ,it feels so comforting to talk to you guys.
It's an painful and heart breaking experience,I don't even want my enemies to go through this.

I had my DD with no issues and thought a 2nd baby would come as easily. After over a year of trying I fell pregnant with baby 2 and everything was seemingly fabulous then I had a mmc only finding out at my 12 week scan. 4 months later I had a second mmc that was detected earlier as I had an early scan due to my anxiety after the initial mmc. I became consumed with having another baby and I can be honest now and say I lost myself a little. It sounds a cliche but only after realising how lucky we were with our amazing dd did I start to relax. I left a job I'd been in for many years which was toxic beyond belief, made plans with my gorgeous family and accepted a new job that I was really excited about......5 days later I found out I was pregnant. Shortly before out DD1's 6th birthday we welcomed our DD2 who is now a 19 month old bundle of happiness. I never gave up but I did plan for the 'what if'. I'm sending you so much love because I know how desperate it feels to cling on to the positives. Hoping you find your happy ending xxx

I was after some reassurance and support. In April I had brown spotting over a few weeks so I got an early scan which showed a healthy pregnancy and a heartbeat at 6 weeks, after a further scan a few weeks later I was told that I had a missed miscarriage at 6 weeks 1 day so 1 day after the scan. This would've been my first pregnancy.

I got pregnant again and had two early because of brown spotting again over three weeks and again both scans showed a viable pregnancy with a heartbeat as early as 5 weeks and 3 days. I had a third scan this afternoon and was told that I have had another missed miscarriage. This is two in a row in the space of 6 months.

I was told that this is rare. My question is has anyone been referred for testing after two MMC? If so what were the tests and was any reason found?

I feel devastated and so alone and confused. I'm worried there is something wrong with me and that I will never have a baby! I am 33 next month and hubby is 37. I feel like time is running out.

Is there light at the end of this dark road?

Birth of DS after straight forward pregnancy.

4 missed miscarriages at between 10 - 12 weeks
Three early pregnancy losses at around 5 - 6 weeks

Consultant gynaecologist found it was impossible for me to carry a pregnancy to term!

Surgery, followed by twin ivf pregnancy to term!

Hi OP, sorry you are going through this. As the previous posters show, there are lots of stories where ppl have had several MMCs but gone on to have one or several children, so please don’t give up hope! I had one straightfoward pregnancy at 32 (DD15) then 2 MMCs in a row, then my now 9yo DD. In fact, I told my husband not to come to her 8week scan as I was so sure it was going to be a MMC again! (I’m a bit glass half empty.) After MMC1 I convinced myself I had adhesions caused from DD1’s delivery (I had a D&C as my placenta wouldn’t come out). I even paid for a private scan but nothing was found. Like you I felt devastated, and MMC2 was even worse. Looking back, I wasted so much time googling and trying to find a definitive answer, when for most of us I think there just isn’t one. I hope this helps; take care of yourself xxx

Do you think it's worth paying for private testing at this stage or should we try again and put these two down to bad luck? It's hard to know what's for the best. Xx

Hi OP, it’s really up to you. I went for tests and found nothing; the poster above me found a problem that meant she couldn’t carry a pg to term - so based on that limited sample you have a 50/50 chance of finding something - or not! First question is, you have the money for a private investigation? If you do and you feel it would reassure you to know there’s nothing obviously wrong, I would go for it.
