My neighbours sit in their garden from 10am until 9pm in her pjs. I think they’re married. Around early 30’s. The woman doesn’t work (ever since I moved here years ago) the guy is at home at the mo with all this Covid. They don’t have any kids and she is always bossing him around and doing 90% of the talking from What I overhear.

I just find it strange.

I lile neighbour watching.

We have an elderly man who stole his next door neighbour's cat. (tbf the neighbours just say the cat made the decision and they keep an eye onn it when the neighbour goes to hospital or his daughter's every now and then).

We have a widower who has just started a new relaitonship (and we are all very happy about it).

Another neighbour who walks his dog at 5 in the morning and then sits in his garden.

A lady who is lovely and very stressed with two gorgeous Dcs and an unemployed husband and who dashes off to work every day at 7 an and returns home at 7 pm and who then seems to spend her entire weekend watering geraniums and talking on the phone loudly to her sister in New Zealand.

(The last one is me. I choose to describe msyelf as lovely). :)

I am a shocking curtain twitcher.

My neighbours get on the lagers from 11am on a weekend I can hear them popping them open from my garden. You do notice neighbours habits especially if different to your own.

DaphneFanshaw · 15/06/2020 21:37

Front or back garden ?
Do they have an old sofa there that they sit on ?
Do they smoke ?

Lynda07 · 15/06/2020 21:40

Don't they go in at all, not even to eat or visit the loo? It is strange but they aren't doing any harm.

mogloveseggs · 15/06/2020 21:41

Well you can't live near me she'd have been drenched with the rain we had this afternoon Grin
Neighbours caught me in my dressing gown at 1pm the other day wonder what they think of me now?

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 15/06/2020 21:42

Can you be confident that she's out there every single day for the full 11 hours, non-stop? Have you set up an official checkpoint to monitor it or do you just have a HD motion-sensitive IP camera trained on her and set up to text you if it detects any slight stirring or deviation?

If not, noseying at regularly checking that your neighbours are safe and well is good fun your responsible civic duty, but I'm imagining her right now starting her own AIBU thread about her crazy neighbour who stares for 11 hours a day at her and her husband participating in their innocent private hobby of pyjama-sardines in their own back garden.

How do you know for a fact that she doesn't work, though? She could be a writer and be spending the daytime being inspired and playing through new ideas and storylines in her head before going inside after dark and committing it all to a screen or piece of paper. She could be the head storyboard editor for Bananas in just one pair of Pyjamas and currently on furlough, as the main actors are currently not able to record new episodes. She and her husband could even be the two lead actors and, as work dries up and times are desperate, they've been forced to sell one of their stage costumes and share the remaining one between them.

amijustparanoidorjuststoned · 15/06/2020 21:42

Maybe I've missed something, but not many people are at work at the minute? Surely?!

But please mind your own business and find something else to occupy your thoughts. You sound bored.

Everyone is noticing heir neighbours a lot more these days.
........

I don't. I never have and never will. I can't see into their garden except down the bottom where my fence has blown down (will be replaced as soon as). On the other side there is a fence and high trees.

I rarely go out the front and that's usually when it's dark but they wouldn't be out there anyway unless they were getting in cars to go somewhere.

megletthesecond · 15/06/2020 21:49

My neighbours wouldn't let me put up a 6ft fence so I'll jolly well nose and judge their garden and habits Grin.

Shinyletsbebadguys · 15/06/2020 21:51

Meh I think you are getting some harsh responses really , lockdown has introduced us all to new facets of our neighbours. Due to next doors brother moving in at lockdown ( and both sister and brother hate each other with a passion but have a remarkably codependent relationship....to be fair we already knew this due to some interesting lock outs and needing to climb over the fence when they told us this ) I now know that the sister is thinking of leaving her teaching role, the brother constantly complains about how he is mistreated and is a very bad video gamer. All through my time in the garden watering the tomatoes.

Can't say I particularly care either way ,they are nice enough to us ,but no I probably wouldn't know the second half as we would all usually be at work.

But to be fair OP she may well have an invisible disability but she may just like living like that. All power to her ....if ibcpuld get DP to do everything and sit in my backside (without feeling guilty) i probably would ) , as it is it would end with a lawnmower being chucked at me i suspect.

Nosey on but sadly none of us have the foggiest why she does this. In terms of whether it's odd....be honest we all do odd stuff at home, she just happens to do hers in the garden where you can see. I bet you do wierd stuff in the house at times.

SeasonFinale · 15/06/2020 21:51

I caught my neighbour on a step ladder looking over my fence his evening as we have had workmen doing a new path today and clearly he needed to see what we were having done! He scuttled away when he saw me looking at him!

Wauden · 15/06/2020 22:03

I would be nosy, too!
MNetters can be v defensive about extended periods of pyjama wearing, indoors and outddors Wink

HollowTalk · 15/06/2020 22:08

But maybe they are just furloughed?

Dee1975 · 15/06/2020 22:09

It is strange .. to me anyway. But each to their own! Although the thought of sitting in the garden all day every day sounds great right now! (I’m currently wfh and trying to homeschool an 8 and 6 y/o - never a moments peace!)
He prob likes being bossed around as he doesn’t have to control anything. And likes going to work to get some peace ... but have dinner in the table when he comes home!

Cocobean30 · 15/06/2020 22:17

My neighbours probably think I’m mental because I’m constantly going outside and peering in to my pond to check on the froglets Grin

I reckon sitting in the garden all day is better for her MH then sitting in front of the tv etc. She might not be able to go out and enjoy parks etc?

Pisspotical · 15/06/2020 22:20

Keep your beak out.
Mind your own business, and get on with what your supposed to be doing!
I’m glad you don’t live next to me!

mrsbyers · 15/06/2020 22:24

Don’t know where in the country you love but it’s been pissing down with rain and high winds for the last week or so here so fair play if they’ve sat out in that all day

Allsorts2020 · 15/06/2020 22:28

I suspect more people on here are just as nosey as me lol don’t we all. I work full time and travel the uk for my job. Im currently working from home hence why I appear to notice more. I know that more people on here are most likely much worse curtain twitchers than me!!

Sharon is that you??
Blush

Allsorts2020 · 15/06/2020 22:29

It’s her that wears pjs all day and a shabby looking dressing gown by the way. The same dressing gown by the way. How rank

OP posts:
Allsorts2020 · 15/06/2020 22:29

No I’m not Sharon I’m afraid

OP posts:
percheron67 · 15/06/2020 22:30

Why are they both in the same pair of pajamas? It must take up an awful lot of room on the washing line? Enormous. Also, ver awkward if they wish to go in separate directions.!

Allsorts2020 · 15/06/2020 22:32

Sorry I haven’t been clear. They don’t share pjs. It was a mistype She wears pjs all day

OP posts:
DaphneFanshaw · 15/06/2020 22:33

Oh I’m a curtain twitcher, I’m not ashamed to admit it.
I’m friends with most of me neighbours, so I don’t really nose on those ones. Not that they’re not interesting, I just already know what they’re up to.
I happily Jose on the ones I’m not friends with though.

DaphneFanshaw · 15/06/2020 22:36

My neighbours a few doors down sit in their garden in their pjs and smoke weed. Not all day, they both work they just pop out to their garden in their pjs when they get home and at weekends.
They sit in one of those swinging love chairs, it’s quite sweet actually
