Yes we can book hair appointments, nail appointments and banish the roots in a matter of weeks. We can shop today!! We are counting down the days to hotels, restaurants and bars opening. We are breaking out.

We have turned a corner in England people!!

The lockdown is ending at long last - so what are you doing today?

Shopping for both my boys Birthday gifts. Planning a socially distanced (as much as possible) bike ride for them in a big open space for them and their friends instead of the parties they've been planning for all year.

Cooking from scratch in peace!

Cutting way back on my Amazon addiction!

Walking for miles in peace!

Doing my kettle bells in peace!

Sitting and breathing in peace!

Both boys back in school, so having my "holidays" now. When it's the summer break I'll have them 24/7 again, which will be before I know it. Then in Sept I have a very intensive course which I hope to still be able to do. Need to be mentally prepared. Then back to uni to study Nursing. Verrrrry intensive few years coming up for me, but I need it after "mothering" for sooo long.

Waiting on the gyms now to be honest. Early July fingers and toes firmly crossed. Love my swimming. Love my weights.

Things are a lot more "normal" for me after weeks and weeks of utter hell where I was suicidal numerous times.

Aridane · 15/06/2020 13:43

And touch loads of things you don't want? People are aware of the virus, they know the importance of not doing that, most will adhere to it.

Of course people are going to touch things !

FleurDaxeny · 15/06/2020 13:43

I don't do Twitter or Facebook either.
I love when people post smuggly about it, like it 's something be superior about... whilst on social media like MN Grin

PrivateD00r · 15/06/2020 13:43

@GreenFingersWouldBeHandy

The death rate was super low yesterday

Give it a few days for everyone to go to Maccy Ds and Nike and it'll go back up again. Do people not understand the nature of a virus?

I'm staying home, thanks!

Even though that hasn't happened in other European countries yet? Lets try a bit of positivity!
Musicforsmorks · 15/06/2020 13:44

So only people who shop Nike and Mac Donald’s will create A spike?

I think we should have them whipped in the streets.

Brb, gotta dash out for a latte.

understandmenow · 15/06/2020 13:44

No more than in a supermarket @Aridane, and they're used a lot at the moment.

GreenFingersWouldBeHandy · 15/06/2020 13:45

@understandmenow if you want to risk your life for a cheap burger, go ahead.

The incubation time for COVID is 3 weeks.

YetAnotherSpartacus · 15/06/2020 13:45

Was "privilege" an autocorrect for something? If so it was a brilliant one. Well done your phone

Tinkly laugh. Not my phone. I don't own a phone capable of connecting to the internet easily. It's over ten years old, but does the job. :). Glad that my honest post about cutting down what I choose to consume had you laughing though. Personally I've loved hearing the birds in my area and have decided that I much prefer nature to mindless shopping - not that I did that much - but I have now resolved to do even less.

Rabblemum · 15/06/2020 13:45

Taking my cat to the vet, doing some work and seeing my boyfriend, I’m about as excited about going shopping again as I am about cleaning my toilet. I’ve really enjoyed the lockdown. I was most excited about the single mum bubble, love is better than shopping.

HesterShaw1 · 15/06/2020 13:46

People in Waitrose and JL won't cause a spike. Or at least, if they do, it'll be a middle class spike, therefore better.

NowImLivinInExeter · 15/06/2020 13:46

if you want to risk your life for a cheap burger, go ahead.

What about an expensive burger, is that OK?

No. It can in extreme cases be up to 3 weeks, but the average is around 5 days.

shinyredbus · 15/06/2020 13:47

Im at home working.

YetAnotherSpartacus · 15/06/2020 13:48

Yeah, well, you know, MN does have some intellectual merit - tinkly laugh again!

YounghillKang · 15/06/2020 13:48

I usually shop online for most things anyway so won't be rushing to the shops, although I'm glad they're opening if it will mean some people in retail keep their jobs. But I am concerned - as on another thread - by the lack of distancing or mask-wearing in some of the scenes of people lining up. I want life to return to normal for everyone, we seem to be at a turning point in the control of the disease, it's smouldering but it's not on fire. But from reports it could still flare up again so think we need to find a balance so that doesn't happen.

HesterShaw1 · 15/06/2020 13:49

Oh I agree with you :)

houselikeashed · 15/06/2020 13:50

Staying at home except to walk the dogs. Got no money to spend in the shops. We've lost £££££ with no sight of DH industry starting up again soon. Sad

understandmenow · 15/06/2020 13:50

@GreenFingersWouldBeHandy not been for any cheap burgers, but please for explain the risk of a drive through McDonald's? I would've thought less risk than shopping in a supermarket?

Incubation of COVID is 14 days...... where did you get 21 days from?

We had all this bullshit after VE Day and the weekends on packed beaches, all ore that this "three" weeks ago and NO SPIKE!

Some people just want to be doom!!

GreenFingersWouldBeHandy · 15/06/2020 13:50

@PrivateD00r

No. It can in extreme cases be up to 3 weeks, but the average is around 5 days

You've just confirmed what I said. 'Up to 3 weeks'.

Drivingdownthe101 · 15/06/2020 13:52

I feel people that find it necessary to queue today need to find something better to do with their time

This sort of patronising, holier than thou comment makes me laugh.
In the past 13 weeks I’ve been working, home schooling a year 1 and reception aged child and looking after a toddler at the same time. We’ve also baked, done crafts, rode our bikes, walked for miles, played games, read loads of books. I’ve also painted my kitchen, living room and bedroom, put a picket fence up in my back garden and dug out and planted some borders in the front garden. I work out online with my PT. I cook and clean.
If I want to go shopping I’ll bloody well go shopping. I’ve done loads with my time, but that doesn’t mean my kids don’t need new shoes and I don’t need some new clothes. And even if we didn’t need those things, I would still be entitled to make the choice to go shopping.

YetAnotherSpartacus · 15/06/2020 13:53

Many apologies if I got the wrong end of the stick smile

Apologies accepted :)

forgetthehousework · 15/06/2020 13:54

When I need something I'll go and buy it. Probably from Primark or Matalan, but it turns out I could probably resupply them from my existing wardrobe so it won't be any time soon.

We did queue for half an hour at Halfords a couple of weeks ago, but that's because my definition of essential includes windscreen wipers Grin

understandmenow · 15/06/2020 13:54

So if it's now up to three weeks @GreenFingersWouldBeHand, which is not what you said, would you not have expected to see the spike as McDonald's has been open two weeks? Or are all these particular cases going to be the exceptional three weeks?

And what risk is a drive through McDonalds?

theonlywayisapple · 15/06/2020 13:55

@LagunaBubbles

I'm so jealous of those south of the border. Nicola has us all locked up still

Stop exaggerating. We are not "locked up" in Scotland just because Primark etc hasn't opened yet. Im certainly not jealous of that when it's Boris in charge either.

I left Scotland because of Sturgeon. You can keep her!
FleurDaxeny · 15/06/2020 13:56

There were hours of queues in Ikea for the first few days. It's completely empty now.

I am more than happy if people want to waste their time queuing this week, so I won't when I go shopping next week or so.
