Yes we can book hair appointments, nail appointments and banish the roots in a matter of weeks. We can shop today!! We are counting down the days to hotels, restaurants and bars opening. We are breaking out.

We have turned a corner in England people!!

The lockdown is ending at long last - so what are you doing today?

OP posts:
Toptotoeunicolour · 15/06/2020 12:55

Staying at home and working, exercising for a break well away from other people, and basically carrying on as before. People are mad to think they can go back to how it was before. I am choosing to be careful for a long time yet, and I'm not in a vulnerable category.

Whattheduck · 15/06/2020 12:56

Working (NHS)
I couldn’t think of anything worse than going to any non essential shop
I feel people that find it necessary to queue today need to find something better to do with their time

DopamineHits · 15/06/2020 12:57

I'm sitting back for a good month to see how this plays out.

PetiteMuffin · 15/06/2020 12:57

Staying at home as lockdown is not over. It might be easing a bit but the danger is still out there. I won’t be going to shops (except the supermarket) unless I desperately need something. With the protests and now the shops opening I fear there’ll be a second wave. 😞

PhoneLock · 15/06/2020 12:58

You aren't allowed to enjoy anything or be optimistic OP, didn't you know?

Not while I'm stuck indoors working you're not, no.

Grin
fluffi · 15/06/2020 12:59

Working (just microwaving lunch then back to it)

If I wasn’t working then I would be staying indoors other than for socially distant and solo exercise.

Personally I think it’s too early for shops to open but I guess we’ll know for sure in about 2-3 weeks time.

Legoandloldolls · 15/06/2020 12:59

I poped into town. I wasnt going to, but changed my mind.

Afraid to say I walked straight into a very organised and calm primark at 10.30 and enjoyed it. After three months with 3 kids off school I quite enjoyed the time alone.

Sorry about that everyone.

ChavvySexPond · 15/06/2020 12:59

I'm working and home schooling like most people I would imagine. I wouldn't be in a shopping centre on a "normal" Monday morning, and I'm not today.

pigsDOfly · 15/06/2020 13:00

I'm waiting for a parcel to be delivered as I've been shopping online.

I can understand wanting to go to the shops, I really can, but the thought of having to queue for every shop I go into and then trying to avoid other shoppers and all the one way stuff just feels me with horror.

I used to love going shopping with my DD and having lunch out but that's not going to happen any time soon. So at the moment, going to the shops is not for me.

I hate going to the supermarket now, I find it stressful. I have to eat and I won't take a delivery slot as I don't need to nor want to but putting myself through the same thing in other shops when I can get what I want online just seems pointless.

BogRollBOGOF · 15/06/2020 13:01

I'm not fussed about queuing up for shops and need nothing imminently so I shall leave my slot free for anyone else that would like it. The DCs need fitting for shoes soon, so I'm pleased to see the local shoe shop back and going and I'd like to top up DS1's t-shirt collection as he has very inconsiderately continued to grow during these uncertain times but we can wait a little longer.

The High Street is dying a slow death anyway so people going in to buy out-of-season stick and get money circulating around the economy and raising tax revenues to fund the NHS are doing a good thing.

We need to get back towards the REAL normal. Jobs, lives and education depend on it. Retail therapy may not be my thing, especially with current restrictions in place but it is great that it is up and going again in some capacity.

No one shut down the High Street when my dad literally dropped down dead in it 25+ years ago Wink

Life kills so we may as well get on with living it before our time is up anyway and make the most of a bad job Grin

LaurieMarlow · 15/06/2020 13:01

I feel people that find it necessary to queue today need to find something better to do with their time

You might comfort yourself by remembering that keeping the economy going is essential to fund the NHS.

understandmenow · 15/06/2020 13:04

I feel people that find it necessary to queue today need to find something better to do with their time

How would you suggest they do then? Particularly to get the economy moving? Anything you deem worthwhile?

SockYarn · 15/06/2020 13:06

I feel people that find it necessary to queue today need to find something better to do with their time

How judgemental. I can totally understand why people are excited to be able to do something "normal" after spending so long confined to home.

SummerHouse · 15/06/2020 13:06

Is Waterstones open? I think I will go tomorrow with the DCs. They have vouchers and a recent aversion to reading.

Musicforsmorks · 15/06/2020 13:07

So, it is somewhat tasteless and risky to queue to shop in primark for ‘tat’. Dirty working class twats eh?

But it’s ok to tear off into self catering, second homes, get your roots done, support the local artisanal coffee shop whilst masturbating over hubby’s role in finance.

There isn’t a primark, a b&m’s, a home bargains for many many miles where I live, does that make me really really middle claaaahs?

Gosh I feel better knowing that. And I hope you all know it too! I am significantly not poor and those who have sunk so low as to only afford primark clothes are ruining this lovely little country 💕💕💕

Off to visit my local ruddy cheeked portly white skinned butcher now to buy up some bespoke Happy-cow chop-chops before trumps hormone infused beef eclipses the sun.

Sorry guys, havin a momen 😁 just humour me.

I can’t imagine why ;)

PrivateD00r · 15/06/2020 13:11

@Midsommar

Working from home, like every other day since lockdown. Wish I had the luxury of being able to go out shopping all day.
Do you work 7 days a week??? A day off is hardly a luxury, we all get them Confused

Whats with all the poor me, I have to work posts?? Be bloody thankful you have a job!

Gammeldragz · 15/06/2020 13:12

I refuse to go shopping before my kids are allowed back to school.

YetAnotherSpartacus · 15/06/2020 13:15

Staying home. I'm living like a hermit until I am sure the danger is over and even then I have resolved to find more meaningful ways of finding meaning (as it were!) than mindless consumerism. I'm going to find ways to privilege locally made and grown and to avoid 'made in China' as much as possible.

ladylunchalot · 15/06/2020 13:17

Enjoy the shops op, can't wait to have a Primark scamper. Will have to wait a few weeks as I'm in Scotland.

Musicforsmorks · 15/06/2020 13:18

I think we need to protest against people buying tat whilst listening to pink Floyd’s ‘we don’t need no education’.
Later, we could stop off at the local beach, or go for a hike with a portable bbq and start a few fires.

Just give me a few mins whilst I finish Up mucking out the horses and wriggle my lard ass back into feb 2020’s organic cotton skinny jeans from joules.

ScubaSteven · 15/06/2020 13:18

Stupid title, OP. Lockdown isn't ending.

People still need to be careful, as long as they're social distancing it should be ok but I can't see that happening - the streets will be far too full for it to be a possibility. The reason the schools can't open is because the areas are too small for the number of people. So without PPE there are going to be a lot of people at risk by the shops opening up today.

A lot of 'non-essential' shops are essential to some/most of us but this really isn't a time for taking the kids round the shops to browse. It's not fair that people are doing that, fair enough if you need something specific and you have to take your DC with you, but going in a group just for the sake of it is selfish.

But there will be the perpetual 'loop holers' with their 'if Boris said it's ok then we'll take the piss' antics.

PrivateD00r · 15/06/2020 13:19

@CatherineCawood

Tested positive on Friday so staying in for now. Lucky me.

Celebrating my DDs 18th birthday today, having a cake delivered this afternoon.

I hope you feel better soon Flowers Happy 18th to your DD Cake
LaurieMarlow · 15/06/2020 13:20

I'm not sure that people going to the shops are 'finding meaning'.

They're just looking for clothes.

Which, y'know, not everyone has the luxury of paying an absolute fortune for locally made.

I fully appreciated it.
