I can't stop shaking

Something really traumatic happened last night, I'm not in danger now but I've woken up and I can't stop shaking and feel sick. I'm on my own.
I can't talk myself down.

Glad you got some sleep and are ok OP.

Just wanted to say how nice it was to read this and see so many posters talking OP through it and giving distraction techniques. MN can be so lovely sometimes!!

ThumbWitchesAbroad · 12/06/2020 07:00

I'm so sorry you've had that experience. The shaking is probably adrenaline-induced, so you could probably do with some vigorous exercise to shake it off. Running is good - up and down the stairs if not outside.
And some hot sweet tea, or if you have it, rescue remedy.

Morning. I suffer from panic attacks and I find watching random videos on YouTube helps, scrolling on my phone and I have to remind myself to breathe. Hope you feel better this morning.

TARSCOUT · 12/06/2020 07:39

Glad you managed to get some sleep and hope your workday went well. Just wanted to say you did brilliantly reaching out for help and well done to all the MN peeps ready and willing to help!

Merge Magic is what I play to zone out. The premise is basically to build a garden which is tended to by creatures by merging items in 3s to get better items. It’s pretty, easy, gives a sense of achievement as you merge things, you can’t really go wrong. It’s pointless really but if I’m stressed it’s one of the things that calms me down as I just focus on getting the garden in order.

my pysch nurse told me this and it works
splash cold water on your face for a few mins and some on your wrists like you would do on a hot day
sounds crazy but it works

Moviestar · 13/06/2020 11:03

How are you doing OP I hope you are ok?

MyGhastIsFlabbered · 13/06/2020 11:09

Are you ok OP?

It's a bit late but in case you ever need it, I find a good grounding exercise is to name 5 things you can see, 4 you can touch, 3 you can hear, 2 you can smell and 1 you can taste. It just helps you focus on 'now' if that makes sense? It really helps me when my anxiety of rocketing.
