To look for other people who weight 15 stone-something for a weight loss support thread?

I'm 5 ft 6lbs and 15 stone 6- so far too heavy! I was 10st 7 five years ago but lots of stress and a binge-eating habit/disorder mean I'm now at my heaviest.

I was just wondering if there were any people in the same situation who would like to join a weight loss support thread?

OP I am exactly the same height and weight as you!

I started Joe Wicks 90 day plan on Monday. Not cheap, but I needed something structured with an exact plan to follow. Enjoying it so far! Glad of being furloughed so I have time for all the cooking.

Getting married next year and I refuse to be a chubby bride.

TheHumanSatsuma · 11/06/2020 09:57

Yes please, 5 4 and 15 6.

Since I’ve been stuck in doors, I just feel awful. Have only put on a couple of pounds but my knees and hips hurt and I just feel dreadful.

Kaboomba · 11/06/2020 10:12

Can I join too please?

I'm 5'6" and weight 16st 1lbs. Im a total yo yo dieter and love sweets and chocolate! I've just started this week following 16:8 (fast 16 hours eat for 8) so will see how that goes, it's a start for me putting so measures in place to control my eating and it hi k once I'm in the way of it I can start working on what I'm eating. I'm gradually trying to drop my sugar in take but it's so hard! AF arrived yesterday too so all I want to do is stuff my face lol!

FatherWindyShepherdHenderson · 11/06/2020 11:21

@birthdaybelle Basically, I just don’t eat for long periods, sometimes 24 hours. I eat one meal a day, generally a baked potato with a filling of some description. You’re supposed to give yourself a window of time in which you allow yourself to eat. I haven’t stuck to this religiously, but generally I eat in the early evening. I then have the odd day here and there where I have a treat, like a takeaway as I think eating more calories occasionally can help your body burn more (if that makes sense). I always drink 3 litres of water a day. I cut out caffeine and most refined sugars etc. I’m a bit frustrated with exercise as it causes me pain but they say losing weight is mostly achievable with diet anyway (would just like to tone myself up really).

Popebenedictsp45 · 11/06/2020 11:28

I love fasting - I eat 500 calories two days a week and between 1800-2000 on the other days. I am losing a steady 1lb a week and it feels like a sustainable diet and loss.

There is a really supportive fasting thread curated by BigChocFrenzy who is full of advice and ideas. Head over!

myColoursareblushandbashful · 11/06/2020 11:31

Can I join?! 5ft 2 and 15st 11! A mixture of laziness, binge eating and I'll health (plus a very long course of oral steroids). I joined Weight watchers 3 weeks ago and have managed to drop to 15st 3. So far it's not too hard but I really need to start exercising

FatherWindyShepherdHenderson · 11/06/2020 11:33

Oh and I should add that fasting isn’t achievable for everyone if it makes you feel faint or affects your blood sugar level too much- I find it easy because I’ve always preferred eating one big meal rather than lots of little ones. I struggle with diets where you have to eat 3 meals and 3 snacks a day! I always feel hungry on those.

MadMadMad · 11/06/2020 11:37

Just wanted to say good luck to all of you. I was 15 st + just after Christmas and am now 12 st with another 2 st to lose. I couldn't get on with low carb but use my fitness pal and religiously log every single thing I eat I also weight everything out and my portion sizes are now way smaller than they were. I also started walking (a lot) and have recently started to jog a little, initially a minute at a time and with a plan to build up. It isn't easy and sometimes I feel like just giving up and going back to the huge mounds of fattening foods I used to eat BUT I do feel so much better for losing the weight. I have more energy and going upstairs no longer feels like climbing a mountain.
You can all do it, just have faith in yourselves.

Kittio · 11/06/2020 12:18

Well done Mad. That's excellent

Crystal87 · 11/06/2020 12:34

Can I join please? I'm currently 15 stone 6 pounds. I was 16 stone bang on last week so I've managed to lose 8 pounds this week. 6 years ago I was 10 stone and that's my long term goal.
I fluctuate all the time between 13 and 16 stone but I think I need to see this as a long term change rather than a diet to have long lasting results. I am following the basic Slimming World plan but am allowing myself a few extra syns if I need to and a healthyish takeaway each weekend as I feel it's more sustainable to not have too long between treats.

Lovely1a2b3c · 11/06/2020 13:00

Yes of course to anyone who wants to join! It's so nice to hear from other people in the same boat!

Anyone over 15st is welcome too. I know it doesn't sound great but I didn't particularly want to hear from too many people who are already a healthy weight and hoping to lose more, because it just feels like a different battle!

I'll look into the Fast 800 and low carb diets- thanks!

I'm not sure how to do this so does everyone want to update after their weigh-in each week or share daily food diaries? (I probably should have had some idea before starting this thread!). I'm making a start today by counting calories and trying to stick to 1500-1700 calories.

Splattherat · 11/06/2020 13:04

I am 6 ft and quite a lot heavier. I would be much happier at 15 stone. Most if it seems to be concentrated around my middle.

jamiejimmy · 11/06/2020 13:33

How about you pick a weigh in day, could be a Thursday so a week from today and then everyone can comment on the same day?

MarkRuffaloCrumble · 11/06/2020 15:31

Appreciate that perspective - someone who wants to lose that “last 5 pounds” to get to 9 stone is just rubbing it in! (I reckon we could let Ganja Granny in as long as she’s short Grin )

The boot camp weigh in is on Mondays so I’ll probably update then. I’ve stalled at 15’3 for the last couple of weeks so hoping for a bit of a loss next week 🤞🏽

For info. Today I’ve had
B: nothing - fasting (16/8)
L: scrambled eggs with cream and butter, hot-smoked salmon and some pretend low carb bread made with ground flax seeds, egg and ground almonds. (Technically we’re not allowed seeds and nuts this week on boot camp so I won’t fess up over there, in case BIWI tells me off, but I needed a bit of fibre Grin )
I’ve also had a coffee and a tea both with lactose free milk.
D: will be steak and asparagus with lots of butter, a creamy, garlic-y mushroom sauce, maybe some celeriac chips.

I certainly don’t feel deprived on this diet - in fact they refer to it as “WOE - way of eating” not a diet.

Also trying to drink my own body weight in water each day! (Well 3 litres but it feels like 30!)

Bearnecessity · 11/06/2020 16:30

I'm in, same as you OP.Father's death other life crap generated habitual comfort eating to the max. Once I was quite attractive I look like a right hepher these days...

CatRamsey · 11/06/2020 16:44

I've been waiting for a thread like this that I could jump onto!

I'm about 5'5 and 15 10lbs, although I didn't weigh this week so that's a rough estimate. I'm so incredibly miserable at the moment, I've been depressed for a long time but my weight is making that a million times worse. I truly believe I'm disgusting and I feel like I've tried everything to get the weight off.

Over the last 5-6 years I've put on 5 stone. I was 13 stone about two years ago and although I was unhappy at the time, I would be glad to get back there again. Those last two years whizzed by and two stone just crept up on me and now I feel repulvise.

Sorry for the negativity! I hope that being part of a thread like this will be encouraging for all. I am currently working through the Couch to 5k app. I completed it last year but stopped running as soon as I finished it. I'm on week 5 now but keep putting off going out, so I need to push myself to get that run done today!

Good luck all! Flowers

Dixiechickonhols · 11/06/2020 17:15

Can I post from the other side to say I was 15 stone 8.5 lb in January 2019, lost 5 stone by end August 2019 and have maintained my loss ever since. I’d been obese for years so it’s a massive change to be a size 10/12. I do SlimmingWorld but did watch my carbs. Basically low fat healthy eating lots of lean protein and veg. Small treat every day eg a freddo as I have a sweet tooth. Found it doable as never hungry. Some chocolate keeps me from bingeing. I walk a lot and swam pre covid but no gym. Posting everything I eat on my Instagram focuses me like nothing else. I thought I’d always be big. Good luck.

PuckleP · 11/06/2020 18:12

@jamiejimmy. 16:8 is what I was trying before WFH kicked in. Start again tomorrow. Halo

jamiejimmy · 11/06/2020 18:22

puckleP fingers crossed we can stick to it this time. I'm roughly doing 11-7 each day and find it easier as I'm wfh too. If I was at work it would be harder to eat at say 11

CoronaIsShit · 11/06/2020 18:50

Timely thread! I was 18 stone 2lb at 5 ft 8 at my heaviest in July 2018. I could hardly walk and was in pain all the time so really empathise with some of the posts on here. I’ve lost over 4 stone (13 stone 11 today) mainly through doing low impact exercise and weights at the gym + the additional 10lb I put on when gyms closed in the first month of lockdown! I’ve been jogging/ cycling and doing online workouts as well as calorie counting to get rid of that and it’s been hard especially on my ankles!

I absolutely hate calorie counting as I get obsessed with it and ‘denying’ myself stuff. I’ve also got hypothyroidism and going through menopause so it’s slow going.

Gyms aren’t going to open for another few months realistically and I really want to shift my last two and a half stone ASAP as I’m done with thinking about it!

So I’m going to try alternate day fasting from tomorrow (Friday as good a day to start as any!). So eat normally one day with my usual exercise and on a fast day, only eat one small meal in the PM like a homemade soup or a salad in the late afternoon with a rest from exercise initially. Always thought about doing it but worried about being out and about feeling hungry and possibly weak but I suppose lockdown is a good time to do it as I don’t have to go out anyway at the moment and can just take to bed and Netflix if the hunger pangs get too muchGrin at the start. If I need to go out I’ll go on a normal eating day. Apparently after a few weeks it gets easy and you can use this method to maintain by fasting one day a week or so when the weight is gone if necessary.

I’ve worked out I will be in a calorie deficit of around 10,000 a week including my exercise calories so should lose almost 3 lb a week.

Anyone tried this or want to try it with me?

RoomShareHell · 11/06/2020 18:55

I started 16:8 and WW online at the beginning of January and so far have lost 3 stones 1 lb. I’m currently 14 9lbs so still a long way to go and hope to be another 3 stones lighter by the end of the year. Motivated by aches and pains and am fed up of years of yo yo-ing and adding on a bit more weight each time. Like many, I’m trying to consciously drink more water.

I don’t have breakfast and eat lunch around 1pm which tends to be brunch featuring eggs of some description. My evening meal after around 6.30pm is healthy and low fat and tends to be veggie rather than carb heavy. I still do eat some carbs but try to have wholewheat and grains/seeds with some density. Snacks are protein yogurts and fruit. So far I’ve averaged just short of 2lbs a week over the last 22 weeks. Exercise is walking only! It is working and I don’t feel unduly deprived. I have done LCHF in the past which worked well but I had concerns over the amount of fats I was consuming and the weight piled on very quickly as soon as I reintroduced carbs. It just wasn’t for me long term.

vanillandhoney · 11/06/2020 19:00

I'm not quite 15 stone but I was over 14 when I weighed myself a month ago! I've lost just over half a stone since then doing 16:8 - it really works and I don't feel hungry or anything anymore.

RoomShareHell · 11/06/2020 19:02

Fantastic Dixiechickonhols That is tremendous going in 8 months. I also track everything and that has become second nature now.

Good luck to everyone starting their weight loss journey this week.

Lovely1a2b3c · 12/06/2020 20:40

Hi, just wondering how everyone's diet/healthy eating plan has gone today?

Also thanks for the inspiring posts @CoronaIsShit and @Dixiechickonhols!

I'm sorry you're feeling so low @CatRamsey - I'm sure a lot of us can relate- at least weight is something we can do something about even if Depression is a bit harder to tackle! How are you finding the Couch to 5k app? I did it a year ago and remember feeling great when I got to 5k but have been feeling too embarrassed to run recently!
