admittedly, ive only been a member for a few months, but i have come to this conclusion. take today for instance. the main topic of conversation on this section is; parents of 5 year olds worried about which senior school to go to? on that thread is the biggest bore & snob you will ever have the misfortune to meet. this popular thread is closely followed by mums worried about whats in their kids packed lunch? mums get a life! im off for a fag.

Nbg · 23/09/2007 16:05

you dont think MN is diverse?

If thats the case then I dont think you have been here long enough and if your making that opinion on just 2 threads then how on earth can you say the whole of MN is middleclass and boring?

talulasmum · 23/09/2007 16:17

look, ive had the piss taken out of me, been accused of being someone else, just bored, etc etc" but i stick to my first point. i am working class and proud of it. i genuinely dont get half of what your talking about? i read some of the threads, for advice etc, i dont join in ( much) as tbh, feel a bit "out of it" im not very well educated so dont think anything i say will be of any interest to most of you. i have one child and do struggle with alot of things. but i know my place and you have all put me well & truly in it!

3andnomore · 23/09/2007 16:21

Honest, if you are for real...are you really surprised by the reactions?

It's people like you talulasmum who painstakingly uphold the class structure in this country byt banging on about it all the time. I don't know or care class I am and it doesn't cross my mind when talking to others either.

It's all in the mind. You need to remove the chip from your shoulder and move on.

talulasmum · 23/09/2007 16:25

3andnomore; yes i really have been shocked by some of the posts. i know my initial thread was a bit childish, and i regret it. but i'll survive.

OP posts:
3andnomore · 23/09/2007 16:27

spidermama, what you said, is very true wihtihn the armed forces community, it is often the "lower" ranks wives that seem to have a problem with ranking, whilst the "higher" ranks tend to not really take much notice and will mix whichever way...

TBH, whilst I am really sure I am not middleclass...I really have no idea...but apparently middleclass has money...now that is an apealing prospect, lol...

lissielou · 23/09/2007 16:28

look, if you arent a namechanger or a troll then maybe you should just apologise for making such a sweeping judgement and start again. we are not all middle class (im not even from a working class family) or boring. perhaps you just stumbled onto the wrong threads. your OP was v confrontational and offensive. that is why people have reacted in this way. but i stick by my initial post. if you dont like mumsnet. if you think its boring and too "middle class" (tho why thats bad i dont know) for you then find another site to use. dont just stick around insulting people, its bad manners.

but i still think you could be a namechanger

My mum used to bang on about class. She had a fair bit of poshness on her side of the family then she married my dad who had none whatsoever. So she became like Hyacinth Bucket, telling me it's vulgar to say 'toilet' and 'serviette' etc. Obviously that stood me in really good stead at my rough comprehensive in Aberdeen.

The whole class thing pisses me off and I believe it really holds this country back. It's all in the mind.

3andnomore · 23/09/2007 16:33

thing is, no one likes to be called boring, eh...although, there are worse things to be called...
also, I think if you do stick around and broaden the sections you read, you may well be pleasantly surprised...although, really, I have no idea why you find the lunchbox thread so bad...because, hopefully through this thread, some of the more protected parts of society have been made aware just why schools are such pitas with it all....because, well, I know for sure, that in the area I live and the school my children go to, bad nutrition is pretty much the norm, and a complete lack of knowledge of what makes a reasonable healthy and balanced diet is a big issue...obviously these sort of "programmes" will only reach those people in dysfunctional living settings very peripheral...but, it may well make a difference for the future... ( I do realise that that was not why the thread was started, but I think some of teh issues were put out in the open because of it, iykwim)

3andnomore · 23/09/2007 16:35

I don't think there is such classism (sp?) in Germany...or maybe I am just to thick skinned to have noticed, lol...probably for teh best, seeing that my mum was a single mother bringing us up on benefits...

Blandmum · 23/09/2007 16:40

If you can't find a thread that interest you, start one that does.

If you can't be arsed to start a thread, stop whinging.

PrincessGoodLife · 23/09/2007 16:42

ladies... ladies...(you too, talulasmum) - take a chill pill!

is it really worth fighting over? what's the big deal with class anyway? come ooooon!

Aitch · 23/09/2007 16:42
