Is Boris Johnson really racist?

Something on my fb has popped up and to me it leads to an interesting debate.
Boris can be a pain, has had a privileged life and appears to look very pale white. However given his ancestry and that of his wife that he has had 4 children can he really be labelled as racist?

OP posts:
MockersGuidedByTheScience · 09/06/2020 17:51

It's because he has the security of wealth and connections and can, and has, lost any number of jobs safe in the knowledge that he will float gently into the featherbedded old-school-tie world where so many more money-for-nothing opportunites will be instantly available to him.

The Cunt.

roxfox · 09/06/2020 18:37

Op what are you on? What do you mean racist against himself? Just because he's foreign doesn't mean he is black ffs.

roxfox · 09/06/2020 18:38

And by foreign I mean because he was born in the states and his family aren't traditionally English in their ancestry. The shit I've seen today ffs

strugglingwithdeciding · 09/06/2020 18:39

@Clavinova please don't posts the actual truth about things as it won't fit with certain people's narratives

strugglingwithdeciding · 09/06/2020 18:42

@Gwlondon no they won't r d the article as they've read a headline and that suits them ,

strugglingwithdeciding · 09/06/2020 18:44

To state certain people are only in their positions to make him look good is an insult to them and also a little bit racist , as your implying they are only there due to their colour

Baseline2815 · 09/06/2020 18:48

To paraphrase Andrew Gillum's classic quote: I'm not saying he's a racist, but the racists think he's a racist.

Ohtherewearethen · 09/06/2020 18:48

He is a raging racist and homophobe. If he says/writes these things for the public to hear/read what on earth do you think he would think and say privately? He despises people who are not like him. And that means white, rich, privately educated toffs who laugh at his japes and tomfoolery and who have no idea of life outside of that bubble. He is, quite frankly, vile.

That’s not racist, it’s recognising tokenism. The cabinet is stuffed with brexiteers.
Justanotherlurker · 09/06/2020 18:56

People have misinterpreted his letterbox statement as racist whilst not actually reading the content of the article, it's the same type of people who think Churchill caused the bengali famine and will ignore the likes of Marx and Corbyn and anti semitism.

It is basically bored people who have had 3 months not getting their daily outrage porn, there is a lot of social media likes to chase at the minute (the first couple of answers to this post shows how their opinion has just been formed via social media with out any base or reasoning other than the amount it has been shared)

TheYellowOfTheEgg · 09/06/2020 19:08

The letterbox article was actually saying that the burka shouldn't be banned. People haven't actually read it and just bang on about the "letterbox" bit.

Alsohuman · 09/06/2020 19:14

I have read it. I read it the day it was published. The point could have been perfectly well without saying those women “choose to look like letterboxes”. As for “ piccaninnies with water melon smiles” - there’s no excuse whatsoever, however hard anyone tries to justify it.

strugglingwithdeciding · 09/06/2020 19:17

@Alsohuman what it isn't because you don't think it is ? I find it as you are implying they are only there due to their colour and they aren't there because of merit , dress it how you like but I find it offensive that you are saying they are not in this positions because they deserve it

strugglingwithdeciding · 09/06/2020 19:18

@Alsohuman just because your a brexitrr also doesn't make you a racist you are aware more than just write people voted for brexit

strugglingwithdeciding · 09/06/2020 19:19

** white

Cocobean30 · 09/06/2020 19:19

Yes he’s a racist. Btw people can be in a relationship with a different race and STILL be racist.

ChaBishkoot · 09/06/2020 19:27

Yes just like men can have women for their mothers, their daughters and sisters and still be deeply misogynistic. In fact even WOMEN can be misogynistic.
The wide eyed naivety is a bit irritating.

tabulahrasa · 09/06/2020 19:39

“People have misinterpreted his letterbox statement as racist whilst not actually reading the content of the article,”

Speak for yourself, I’m perfectly capable of understanding content and word choice separately thanks.

MockersGuidedByTheScience · 09/06/2020 19:44

Saying his letterbox/bank robbers comment wasn't dog-whistle racism pretending to be something else with a cheap veneer of smartarsed rhetoric is like saying that Enoch never predicted Rivers of Blood.

(Cue the apologst who says he didn't.....)

Sparklesocks · 09/06/2020 19:52

This thread just goes to show the divide in this country and indeed throughout the world. It is very much like Brexit. Dress Racism up as much as you like. It's still Racism. Same as Misogyny. The same folk will keep excusing it again and again. And those of you who have should be deeply ashamed.

Personally, I prefer to stand with Black people who have been persecuted for centuries. With my Jewish friends and family who have suffered the same. And to all the white feminists (I don't think there will be many who don't stand with black people here) Emeline Pankhurst? We remember how she gave her life for our cause.

FuckThisWind · 09/06/2020 20:35

@panavia

I fail to see how the 'letterbox' comment is racist?

Which race was he denigrating there?

He was denouncing and racially / religiously slurring Islamic women. Do you really want to continue to defend that? If so, go ahead. As you will make yourself sound like a person who judges religion / colour/ race. Or do you just want to distract from the debate?

White people's lives will not be worse off if we eradicate Racism.

Timesdone · 09/06/2020 23:12

He led the Brexit Leave campaign, what else do you need to know

LonginesPrime · 09/06/2020 23:45

But he has Muslim women in his ancestry so does that make a difference?

Clearly not to him!

Does he have black friends too, OP?
