Is it just white people who object to the protests?

I am white...i support the protests...several of my white friends are horrified by them. Are any non whites against them and if so why?
Aibu to feel that the incensed are scared of loosing their white priveledge or feelings of supremacy?

The problem with protests is it draws in the unnecessary violence and vandalism, also not to mention the breaking of social distancing which everyone was going mad about not so long ago. If protesting can be done in a safe way sure knock your socks off, but as it stands it's not actually making any better of the situation it's trying to mend, its actuly making things worse in terms of heightened feelings between races and police ect.

I’m white, not that should matter but I support the protest, but I don’t support it at this time, when the nation is most at risk, and I don’t support the vandalism, violence or statues being pulled to the ground out of anger, by either the blacks or whites!

I support the protesting, I don't support mindless violence (who throws bricks and bikes at horses ffs) and vandalism not to mention the global pandemic. Of course without the pandemic most people would be at work and wouldn't get their voices heard so it's a double edged sword. I suspect the people causing the vandalism and violence don't care much for the cause either and are just using it as an excuse.

I support anyones right to protest about whatever they feel is right.

I don't agree with rioting in any form, attacking police officers and police horses, desacrating monuments and not adhering to social distancing.

Everyone has the right to peacefully demonstrate and protest. I don't support the violence or damage caused.

I'm all for protesting. It's rioting I don't like, and acts of vandalism such as tearing down statues and defacing cenotaphs.

Yes, Colston was a "bad man" - but he paid for most of Bristol to be built, so it's not really the statue that's the problem.

Also - there's a pandemic going on, which black people seem to be most susceptible to.

My friend is Black she's against the protests because she's a health care professional and terrified of another rise in infection ,as shes,currently working with Covid patients.

Well. I’m black and I think it’s stupid to protects NOW in this manner.

We’re the most likely to die from coronavirus for a start.

This should have been done either in a different way it at a different times

Throwing the bike doesn’t do much to alleviate the view of the disaffected black yoof that we are up against. So thanks, whoever did that

I agree black lives matter, and I abhor racism, but I think protesting during a global pandemic is all kinds of insane. Covid-19 is more likely to wipe out black people than it is white people, so gathering in mass groups makes about as much sense as Emma Thompson jetting in for a climate change protest.

I've not heard anyone say they are against protesting ever if I'm honest.

However I have heard people saying they disagree with mass gatherings, rioting, looting, violence and damage to people, animals and property.

Plenty more in my local Facebook group are saying the same thing. Mind you, lots of them work at my local hospital.

The protest and demonstration I support, attend some, not others.

Throwing a bike or a brick at a horse, setting off a flare in the face of another, I can't even being to undertsand. Destruction of property isn't anuthing to be proud of either!

At this monent in world history I cannot believe any people would gather in their thousands, let alone BAME individuals, or any men, given their increased susceptibilty to CV19. Maybe their age will protect them, if not their loved ones, from the increased risk!

My friend is black and she was horrified at the protest.

She said that as black people are the most at risk of dying then it was madness to carry out the protest during the lockdown/paramedic.

She said it’s a shame that a protest to highlight the protection of black lives will likely result in the loss of many black lives.

Plenty of black people owned or were employed by businesses which were looted. I don't think they were very happy.

Indeed. It's because I think black lives matter that I'm against mass gatherings (protests).

Even if everyone wanted to socially distance, when you get to numbers of that size, practically, it just can't happen. I agree with the anger, I disagree with what they've done with it.

Quite a lot of black people have spoken out, not against the protests but against smashing things up, fighting and looting.

Partly because a lot of the people causing the trouble are there to do just that and the advice is to turn away from the aggressive behaviour, partly because it's playing right into the racists hands when they come across a certain away.........other than that I've only seen support for the protests. I've only seen support for the removing of the statue in Bristol too........after all no one got hurt and the fact it was still in place was an insult. I don't see how anyone can condemn that.

And whilst I can't say I particularly agree with the more aggressive behaviour I can see why a minority are acting that way. If I was worried about my child leaving the house solely because of the colour of their skin I'd probably be reacting in the same way.

Tommy Robinson and his band of merry knuckle draggers are meant to be attending this Saturday Hmm and I just hope the protestors don't play right into their hands.

I doubt all the BAME keyworkeers like nurses are too impressed with the scenes in London.

It's not protests people care about it's ASD and people ignoring pleas to socially distance during a pandemic.
