Neighbours Hot Tub

Hi all
Just had our new build garden landscaped and its finally looking great after a lot of hard work by me.
The neighbours across from us have just installed a hot tub which they have been using every day/night in the good weather. However, as the fence is wooden (it is 6ft high) you can see through the slats into their garden. Every time I'm in my garden when they are using it they give us evil looks through the fence and generally make us feel like we shouldn't be in our garden when they are in the hot tub. If I'm honest I also feel uncomfortable being out there when I know they are in it.
Surely the onus is on the person who installed the hot tub to provide some sort of privacy screening if they are that bothered about being seen? I mean like willow/bamboo screening on their side of the fence.
I'm gutted that I can't go out and enjoy my garden without feeling like some kind of perv.
It's currently being used until the late hours and keeping my children awake with the noise they are making. Honestly, why are some neighbours so oblivious to their behaviour?
Does anyone have a hot tub? How have you provided privacy and does it bother you if your neighbours are out in their garden when you are using it?
On the plus side it does not look like a permanent structure so hopefully will be gone once the spell of good weather is over!

Why is everyone on mumsnet so horrified at the idea that anyone might be able to see into your garden? We actually have an access path that runs the length of our (very small) terrace right outside our backdoors! It isn’t an issue at all.

Why is mn so angry about hot tubs?
We have had one for a few years and use it as a glorified paddling pool which doesnt need to be emptied every few days, doesnt ruin your lawn and isnt too cold to use.
Its been a godsend for dc in lockdown as they spend ages in it diving about or floating on their inflatables. Its also lovely to cool off on a hot day.
We hardly use the bubbles as its a bit noisy and annoying for neighbours but i cant see why they irritate people so much.

@AtaMarie

"If I were you I'd make a point of using my garden MORE than usual. They have absolutely NO RIGHT to glare at you for using YOUR garden."

Exactly. And please sing tunelessly and repetitively while you're at it.

Or even better...

"I know a song that'll get on your nerves, get on your nerves, get on your nerves"....

Come on - you'll all signing it now aren't you?! Wink

In all honesty, I probably would just buy some screening. Not your problem OP and you shouldn't have to, but I'd just take the easy way out.

I would, however, be sorely tempted to install it while they're using their hot tub, tutting and shaking my head throughout!

Ledkr, I'd be fine with your dc having fun, not a problem. It's lovely to hear them laughing and playing.
It's the gobs on my neighbours, and the drunken rants and adult noise, a few inches through the fence, till well gone midnight, most nights. He doesn't work, his business, but, I'm up for 4.00 am.

Live and let live of course, but these two are just a pair of wankers.

I have the same set-up!

@changedmynameforlockdown

you need to use stockinformer! They have been in stock in plenty of places but they sell out within seconds. Go to stock informer, select the models you want to track and then turn on tha audible alarm on the top right of the page. As soon as they find a company has stock in, you have seocnds to get on the website and order it so keep your payment details to hand and make sure autofill has your correct information etc. Mine is a preorder through Very and will be here by late June. A good few shops have had them instock over the last few days and they show you who, where and when.

Never mind a bamboo fence, put up a mirror facing them. Let them look at themselves gurning and glowering!

Ilovemypantry · 09/06/2020 13:47

Are they actually naked in the hot tub? Now that would be awkward foe everyone concerned.

Rowantree2020 · 09/06/2020 13:51

Boopeedoop
They need to screen off their own sex pond.

Grin that’s a great description! They’re so naff.

EvilPea · 09/06/2020 13:52

Is there anyway of putting trellis and climbers or pots with bamboo in front of that section?
The bamboo rustle will help with sound as well.
