Ah the usual right wing trope of protesters = rioters

I am utterly disgusted by what I have seen in the news.

As am I OP that in 2020 people are still killed for nothing more than the colour of their skin and that some people are more than happy for this continue

@MNHQ how many more of these threads are you going to allow?

Police dispel rumours of the Cenotaph being vandalised at London's Black Lives Matter protest: www.mylondon.news/news/zone-1-news/police-dispel-rumours-cenotaph-being-18360724

The images are ten years old.

Wasnt the student swinging on the cenotaph, charged with sonething at the time?

People need to think bloody critically. I remember that photo from years ago.

Its amazing how people dont question what they have read on twitter.

leckford · 08/06/2020 06:02

It has been taken over by the professional agitators, most people do not have sympathy for this, in the time of a still uncontrolled pandemic.

The question is who is managing this China/Russia/North Korea?

Many of the people ,like the white man shown firing a flare at a police horse was there for the violence, not any cause.

The police need to identify the trouble makers and they need to go to prison for a long time

Let’s hope this insanity does not spread the virus again

kateandme · 08/06/2020 06:03

go look up churchhills racist comments.he was fucking disgusting

ShastaBeast · 08/06/2020 06:04

@Flaxmeadow how did African children end up starving on streets in Yemen? It’s a sickening situation but nothing to do with BLM or British people protesting racism.

WendyImHome · 08/06/2020 06:04

@trevsadick it one of my main frustrations with social media. It takes two seconds to fact check something, but I see it all the time on Facebook and Twitter. People being OUTRAGED and spreading stories that just true.

WendyImHome · 08/06/2020 06:04

Sorry, just aren’t true

ChocolatelyAsFuck · 08/06/2020 06:05

Thank you.

There are so many lies being spread with the agenda to attack and defame antiracist activists. In America there have been cases of white activists, Antifa, and allegedly undercover police, looting and rioting or trying to incite peaceful protests to violence, in the hopes of controlling the media narrative to paint black people as violent thugs, or possibly even with the agenda of starting actual violence so that black people will be hurt physically.

And some posters are so willing/desperate to believe bad things about black people or to read things that shore up their own prejudices, they don’t bother to fact check.

Some of it is racism and some of it is just naïveté.

I live in London and have attended many of the protests and half the stuff I read on MN simply doesn’t reflect what I’ve personally witnessed.

Fucks sake sprocky I’m white and even I know you’re either incredibly blinkered or a troll with that statement, funnily enough racism affects people in the UK too, I can’t speak to the depths of this as I’ve never been on the receiving end, but claiming the UK isn’t remotely racist would be laughable if the situation weren’t so horrific!

Also, just because most of the media shows the worst if it (which I don’t condone) why do these threads always ignore the many who are protesting peacefully rather than the few?

I would say for most of them, the risk they are taking during the pandemic shows how important this movement is to them.

Casino218 · 08/06/2020 06:16

Unfortunately this is the result when you marginalise a section of society. You're angry at the wrong people op.
Just because our so called politicians and rulers walk around in suits don't be fooled that they are not thugs and looters because they are.
It's a shame care home residents haven't the health or strength to also protest because they have also been killed in their thousands by this government.

PissedOffAndAwake · 08/06/2020 06:19

I've just seen a post going the rounds on FB showing a group of black people laughing and enjoying themselves, suggesting this was a photo taken during the protests demonstrating insincerity and cynicism on the part of protesters. The trouble is, it was from 2015. A clearer demonstration of deliberate lying about the protests would be hard to find.

It does amaze me that people are still unable to exercise critical thinking when it comes to social media posts. Facebook and social media is not new any more. The internet is not new any more. If you are sharing and believing stuff from random
Facebook posts, then you are part of the problem. It's not difficult to fact check or to be healthily sceptical about images posted with no provenance or source, yet people are still just mindlessly sharing and parroting unverified information they've seen some random post on Facebook, I can only guess because it buys into the narrative they want to believe.

BovaryX · 08/06/2020 06:31

@ShastaBeast

Why are people attacking cops in London because of a police killing in Minnesota? Are cops in Sweden guilty too? What about cops in Vancouver? Are cops in Peshawar guilty? Are cops globally guilty? Does David Dorn's death matter? Why isn't his name being chanted?
