Read this today and eviscerating is the right word.
I thought the government would make a hash of everything but they’ve excelled themselves with the Covid crisis.

Just thought others might “like“ to read this if they’ve not already.

RedHelenB · 06/06/2020 10:24

But too many people ready to make excuses.

iklboo · 06/06/2020 10:35

Thank you for this.

Thighmageddon · 06/06/2020 10:41

That was an appallingly written piece, it's like something a primary school child would've written.

CuriousaboutSamphire · 06/06/2020 10:45

I as going to say the same. If you want to eviscerate someone write in a coherent manner!

Purplephonecover · 06/06/2020 10:47

It’s behind a pay wall

tenlittlecygnets · 06/06/2020 10:51

What on earth is wrong with the way it's written? And of course a primary aged child couldn't have written it. What an odd thing to say.

Remember the New European's raison d'etre, though, and take its articles with a pinch of salt.

redwoodmazza · 06/06/2020 10:58

I'm very grateful I'm in UK and not US.

stophuggingme · 06/06/2020 11:02

@Thighmageddon Hmm

I thought she was being deliberately sarcastic. My interpretation of it was that she was purposefully writing in a manner which is designed to illuminate the catastrophe unfolding at the hands of a bunch of individuals who - to use your analogy - aren’t even at Reception Age in terms of political noise, leadership and decision making.

It reminds me of a mumsnetter having a rant. Some of the phrasing is very familiar.

Maybe she is on here Grin

How strange, to read that article and only be annoyed with how its written.

Sums it all up really.

Thighmageddon · 06/06/2020 11:08

ssd I didn't say I disagreed with what's written did I?

KaronAVyrus · 06/06/2020 11:08

It’s very badly written.

KaronAVyrus · 06/06/2020 11:10

I generally agree with what’s written but it’s been said a million times all over the internet. There’s nothing new in this article.

stophuggingme · 06/06/2020 11:11

If she’d waited a bit she could have added Matt Hancock’s latest order regarding face masks. An order made without even consulting NHS Providers.
Perhaps there’s a consignment en route from the Ukraine or somewhere else Confused

Literally not one thing in that article that hasn't been hashed to bits already on multiple threads here. It gives us nothing new at all, and contains some first class dementoring about VE Day and beaches for good measure.

4Smalls · 06/06/2020 11:17

YABU. Very poorly written, echo chamber screed. Agree with it, but as @KaronAVyrus says:

How strange, to read that article and only be annoyed with how its written.

Not strange at all. It reads like someone just ranting because they're "discusted", same as countless others on internet forums and twitter. There's nothing new, no analysis or insight.

TorkTorkBam · 06/06/2020 11:29

She's not going to get a job writing for The Economist is she?

No insights. Just ranting about idiots. No solutions other than time machines.

The world is goodies and baddies according to the author. Nobody is buying the idea that everyone in government is Dr Evil so now it is that they are all mentially subnormal. Not human beings in a situation that is massively complex, rapidly changing, highly unpredictable. They are trying to do the best they can, some choices will turn out to have been spot on, other to have been a disaster. Same in every country.

We won't know for at least a year which countries have come out better and worse in the end.

Life is not a Marvel movie nor a teen drama.

Sparklingbrook · 06/06/2020 11:38

It does read like one huge AIBU.

caperberries · 06/06/2020 11:38

Yes, very poorly written.
