Unexpected song collaborations that are ace

Scout2016 · 06/06/2020 08:38

AIBU to ask for song recommendations where the song is ace but you wouldn't have imagined the artists hanging out together? Ideally a full on proper collaboration, not just featuring. So not Tom Petty and Stevie Nicks, who you'd expect to have been mates, or Metallica and Marianne Faithful because she just "la la la la"s along to a very much Metallica song.
I'll go Sinead O'Connor and Willie Nelson's "Don't Give Up" and Iggy Pop and Kate Pierson "Candy."

Kylie Minogue and Nick Cave is an unexpected combo, wouldn't say the song is ace though

Pelleas · 06/06/2020 08:43

Not sure how unexpected it would be classed as, but I've always liked Aerosmith/Run DMC's Walk this Way.

MrsSpenserGregson · 06/06/2020 08:45

Easy Lover by Philip Bailey and Phil Collins

Scout2016 · 06/06/2020 09:00

@Pelleas I would say that's unexpected.
@MrsSpenserGregson I am learning already because don't know who Philip Bailley is.

Marc Almond & Gene Pitney - Something's Gotten Hold of my Heart

@Pelleas I came on to write the exact same song! Phenomenal song and very unexpected.

HKW81 · 06/06/2020 09:32

Linkin Park and Jay Z entire collab album! But especially Numb/Encore

LuckyAmy1986 · 06/06/2020 09:34

I love Stay by Rihanna and Mikky Ekko

Pelleas · 06/06/2020 09:36

Yes, isn't it, Spongebob? I saw them performing together on vintage TOTP a few weeks ago and was reminded of how good it was - back in the day I bought the single.

SpongebobNoPants · 06/06/2020 09:37

Billie Joe Armstrong from Greenday and Norah Jones did a whole collection of Everly Brothers covers... simply stunning.

Dido and Eminem “Stan” is a work of art. It’s still an amazing piece of music and I think even if it was released today it would be a huge hit again

TheSandgroper · 06/06/2020 09:38

I like Michael Hutchence and Jenny Mortis doing Jackson.

TheSandgroper · 06/06/2020 09:39

Morris. Jenny Morris.

RuffleCrow · 06/06/2020 09:40

Always loved Led Zep and Sandy Denny - The Battle of Evermore - she turns it from something very proto 'Spinal Tap' into something much better!

More recently, Lady Gaga and Florence Welch on 'Hey Girl'.

QuentinQuarantino · 06/06/2020 09:40

Both absolute tunes.

Sidge · 06/06/2020 09:47

I was surprised to see Ed Sheeran and Eminem together on River but seeing as he now collaborates with anyone and everyone I guess not such a surprise.

Smallinthesmoke · 06/06/2020 09:49

Nick Cave and Shane McGowan - Wonderful World

KLF and Tammy, yes! Loads I don't know. Can see I'm going to be hammering Google this evening.

A bit of an odd one but love the song

Anthrax and Public Enemy - Bring The Noise

Ginfordinner · 06/06/2020 09:54

Mel C and Bryan Adams - When you're Gone

TwentyViginti · 06/06/2020 09:54

@QuentinQuarantino

Both absolute tunes.

Dusty and PSB! yes! I listen to this a lot. Fabulous!
Ginfordinner · 06/06/2020 09:56

Peter Gabriel and Kate Bush - Don't Give Up

BovaryX · 06/06/2020 09:56

David Bowie and Bing Crosby!

Scout2016 · 06/06/2020 10:02

@Ginfordinner now I would have expected them to be mates, being arty 70s/80s types.

Van Morrison and Cliff Richard - Whenever God Shines His Light
