Unexpected song collaborations that are ace

AIBU to ask for song recommendations where the song is ace but you wouldn't have imagined the artists hanging out together? Ideally a full on proper collaboration, not just featuring. So not Tom Petty and Stevie Nicks, who you'd expect to have been mates, or Metallica and Marianne Faithful because she just "la la la la"s along to a very much Metallica song.
I'll go Sinead O'Connor and Willie Nelson's "Don't Give Up" and Iggy Pop and Kate Pierson "Candy."

That reminds me, who would have expected Neil Young to marry Darryl Hannah? Whole other thread I know, but Shock

MittensTheSerpent · 06/06/2020 10:44

Pavarotti and Elton John's "We'll Live Like Horses" (I think that's what it's called, anyway) is a rare treat.

BobbaMom · 06/06/2020 10:46

Skin from skunk anansie and Pavarotti. Follow me down, it's a work of art.

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 06/06/2020 11:09

I was going to say the same two as Quentin!

ProseccoBubbleFantasies · 06/06/2020 11:11

Tom Jones did a collaborative album which has some gems. Can't remember what it's called now though

Pelleas · 06/06/2020 11:13

Freddie Mercury and Montserrat Caballé - Barcelona

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 06/06/2020 11:16

Skin from skunk anansie and Pavarotti. Follow me down, it's a work of art.

Does anybody remember 'Miss Sarajevo', by Pavarotti and U2 under the pseudonym of 'Passengers'?

Does Andrea Bocelli and Dual Lipa's 'If Only' count, as she's only credited as 'featured'?

Also, 'Barcelona' has become such a familiar all-time classic that it's easy to overlook the fact that Freddie and Monserrat moved in very different musical fields.

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 06/06/2020 11:16

x-posted with Pelleas there.

Pelleas · 06/06/2020 11:21

It was the mention of Pavarotti that reminded me - like you say, WeBuilt Barcelona is one it's easy to take for granted.

Anniegetyourgun · 06/06/2020 11:22

John Denver and Placido Domingo, Perhaps Love.

Wewearpinkonwednesdays · 06/06/2020 11:27

@SpongebobNoPants - I love Green Day and Norah Jones and have a real soft spot for the Everlys. How the fuck did I not know about this????

Thank you so much - that's my weekend listening sorted out.

Scout2016 · 06/06/2020 11:59

@BobbaMom decided that recommendation couldn't wait o snuck off to stick my headphones in... and oh my! Thank you so much. Started off thinking sound was a bit dodge, by the end my eyes were welling up.
Are you a fan of Skin in general? Her "Carmen Queasy" with Maxim is one of my go to favourites. Very different vibe of course.

I agree about Barcelona being a fantastic cross over. A gamble that definitely paid off!

Tom Jones and The Cardigans, Burning down the house.

Rediscovered it this week. Way more fun than I remembered.

SpongebobNoPants · 06/06/2020 12:12

@RobotandPenguin enjoy Grin
It’s such a beautiful album

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 06/06/2020 12:31

Just realised my typo - Dua Lipa, not 'Dual'; there's only one of her Grin
