So from this advice and reading up on this he gave the dog to me as the dog was no longer wanted by him

I have proof that my mother witnessed this also

A mother doesn't make a great witness at all if he denies everything.

Who paid for the insurance? Do you have get bills from when you were together and evidence you paid it all? The microchip bring under his name is not great.

Has he had your address to contact you during the 3 years?

dublingirl66 · 05/06/2020 19:48

Yes he has had my addresss all along

get the microchip changed into your name, like now.

if the dog isnt insured,do this -in YOUR name.

never ever leave the dog unattended, even for a second. Even in your garden

get all evidence, vet bills, photos, statements off family about dog ownership

what a nasty little man

The mother isn’t an independent witness, but if you turn up with her statement, financial proof and photographic proof that you have been caring for the dog, then it will all build up.

Honestly I will be very surprised if this goes to court, but if it does he won’t be awarded the dog.

Thank you

I don’t think it will get to court because it’s so long after the break up.
I haven’t ever been to court so I don’t know how they work things in terms of costs and things like that, but surely they wouldn’t make you pay for his deciding to go when you don’t want to and have done nothing wrong?

dublingirl66 · 05/06/2020 20:05

Well not according to his solicitor

My gosh it has been three years

The dog gets the best of the best so around 200 a month easily inc vet fees etc
So x 3 years !!!

He is a mad man

And just a bad evil person

I can not lose this dog

OP posts:
minielise · 05/06/2020 20:07

His solicitor is being paid by him to say what he wants in a way that will make you worry and give them it. Not because it’s likely. It’s a scare tactic!

dontdisturbmenow · 05/06/2020 20:07

That's not the point, the point was ownership then when together. Changing it to her name now won't change his position that the dog was his then.

If the dog isn't insure, it really makes you both quite irresponsible.

Your strongest defense is him not going to court sooner if indeed he thought you'd stolen his dog.

dublingirl66 · 05/06/2020 20:14

I paid for it

Dog is in my name at vets

He neglected dog

And said dog was better elsewhere

This dog is such a great pet I can not lose him

OP posts:
Pippinsqueak · 05/06/2020 20:18

Change the details on the microchip it's easily done and change the details at the vets

dublingirl66 · 05/06/2020 20:19

It's in my name at vets for three years

I pay the bills

OP posts:
dublingirl66 · 05/06/2020 20:20

copycopypaste · 05/06/2020 20:27

Get a letter from your vet confirming any treatment, working tablets etc you've paid them for over the years.

Do you pay insurance for the dog?
Get a statement from your mum confirming that she was whiteness etc

I strongly suspect he'll be laughed out if court

dublingirl66 · 05/06/2020 20:29

Thank you fab people

I literally almost fainted when I opened the email earlier

A man like this stops at nothing trust me

I had visions of him ordering the dog back then abusing the poor mite

He is the happiest dog
Three hour walks most days
Huge house
His own actual bed !!!

Majorly loved

Plus we are a pet loving family
This man hated him

I mean had no interest in him at all

OP posts:
TaighNamGastaOrt · 05/06/2020 20:32

He's just trying to attack you and control you via your dog. My ex tried this with my beautiful collie. He abused us too, then stole her.
I got her back, then moved away. Several times he threatened to take me to court, but of course he never did.
I saw a solicitor who advised dogs are seen as possessions. Possession is 9/10ths of the law. I had proof of insurance, feeding, vet bills so he didn't stand a chance.
I never let her out of my sight after that. That great dog saved my life and was my rock. He was just trying to hurt me.
Please don't let him worry you or react. Watch your dog and speak to police if he threatens you.
Good luck, your dog is worth the fight, best friend I ever had x

dublingirl66 · 05/06/2020 20:35

Oh my gosh so sorry to hear this

That is heart breaking

This dog saved me

And we both know of his abuse

So by possession ie that I pay for food
Bills
Grooming
Toys
Vet bills
Insurance

Is that ok for court ?
Changing microchip name tomorrow
Dog is in my name at vets as I literally organised and paid for everything

OP posts:
Thatnameistaken · 05/06/2020 20:40

Could you ask your vet to print out your dogs record showing that you've paid for all treatment in that time? It would surely count as evidence.

dublingirl66 · 05/06/2020 21:01

Yes I can do
