Hi, posting quickly for traffic. Please settle a stupid debate.

If I used the word dachshund would you know what I was referring to?

Yanbu- yes I know
Yabu- no I don't know

Little sausage dog, prone to back issues due to their overly elongated body.

FelicityJaneGrace · 03/06/2020 23:26

I would love one but can't really have pets so I draw/paint them instead Smile

Schnitzel von Krum with a very low tum Grin

Ginfordinner · 03/06/2020 23:30

Wow @FelicityJaneGrace. That's brilliant.

Melroses · 03/06/2020 23:38

Next door have one. She thinks she's a rottweiler though!

Mine used to think that too. Look similar, but the legs are a little shorter Grin

We had one that suffered back problems - he was a bit of a glutton really and ate the cat's dinner - had to be kept thin and fit. The other was naturally thin and in fear of the cat so didn't eat extra dinner and lived to a good age (16).

@Benzer01

He was there yes. Gorgeous thing.
Preoleai · 03/06/2020 23:44

susandelgado · 03/06/2020 23:46

Yes, I have three!

pigsDOfly · 04/06/2020 00:02

One of my best friends at school had a standard one.

Nice enough dog most of the time but had a nasty bitey side to him.

Cute looking little things though.

Smellbellina · 04/06/2020 00:05

I don’t ‘get’ dachshunds, my family love them, I find them freaky

Nanny0gg · 04/06/2020 12:43

It's the back problems that put me off getting one. I would worry

Silenceisnotgolden · 04/06/2020 13:08

Yes. Most of my friends have one. They’re very ‘in’.

Ghostlyglow · 04/06/2020 13:48

Yes, I love them. When I'm out walking and see one toddling along I can't help but smile 😍

raspberryk · 04/06/2020 13:54

Yeah a sosig dog ... unless there's another meaning?

Ylvamoon · 04/06/2020 13:57

atilathehut · 04/06/2020 14:13

Yes even my 9 year old would although she would more likely use sausage dog

RumbaswithPumbaas · 04/06/2020 14:18

Yes

Although not sure this is an unbiased survey as you’re less likely to click on the thread if you didn’t know/weren’t vaguely interested In dogs Grin

Slave2love · 04/06/2020 14:25

Yes, next door have 2 of the noisy little things. Bark ALL day long.

tom5431 · 04/06/2020 14:25

Please get good insurance if you get one; ours has just had spinal surgery that cost £4000 (thankfully covered by insurance). We were very surprised to be told by the surgeon just how common serious back problems are, the risk is 1 in 3 in fact.......

vanillandhoney · 04/06/2020 14:31

I know what they are don't but don't get the appeal of buying a breed that's known for having pretty serious health problems.

Euclid · 04/06/2020 14:33

Dachshunds always remind me of poor old Helen Bailey and her little dog Boris whom she adored and who kept her going after her husband died. Her fiancé drowned him too or perhaps little Boris loyally jumped into the cesspit after Helen.

MeglaFlop · 04/06/2020 14:38

Yes it's a little bit like a dog, but much smaller with odd little legs.

Annabk · 04/06/2020 14:48

The dog with really, really awful spinal issues. My lovely postman is in pieces because his 6yr old sausage dog had to be put down last week Sad

Littlemeadow123 · 04/06/2020 14:57

Yep. My little border terrier is bezzie mates with one.

1forAll74 · 04/06/2020 15:02

Yes , my Son has two miniature long haired Dachshunds, they are a popular breed, and very popular in the USA also..
