If pup didn't leave mum until 8 weeks old, they've only had him for 5 weeks.

How can someone possibly get a puppy without thinking past lockdown or what might happen when they go back to work?

People are pigs.

This makes me so angry! Selfish, selfish people - it's a living creature, a friend for life, not a toy you can just get rid of when it no longer fits into your lifestyle (after a few weeks!!). Bloody idiots. Angry

BatShite · 03/06/2020 23:51

Its awful A lot of people seem to have got pets to entertain them during lockdown and no longer want them. Did these people think they would be able to sit at home for the rest of their lives or something?! Its fucking ridiculous.

I am another woman who knows terriers and that little chap is probably not even partly Fox Terrier.
I noticed the “Veterinarian “ too. Only yanks use that. Very weird, and that poor little scrap being sold to anyone.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 04/06/2020 00:18

What a wee toot, although definitely not a fox terrier. I would love a dog, but it’s not possible because of being (normally) out at work.

We have a lovely cat who is currently draped over me, and even after having her five minutes she was ours for life. She is a bloody pest bringing in mice, and covering everything in hair, but she is our bloody pest.

Sad
KenAdams · 04/06/2020 01:23

@Cherrysoup hopefully hes gone to a good home.

I'm worried about the bitches that come up for sale soon that haven't been neutered as they will be snapped up by the puppy farms. The whole situation is so sad I honestly can't understand what's going through peoples minds at the moment.

@ArgumentativeAardvaark

Yeah, nobody in the U.K. says “veterinarian”. Fishy.
It is possible that they typed in 'vet' and the auto-correct completed the word. My laptop will do that sometimes.

Definitely not an apologist here though. My nightmare of a Patterdale is currently eyeballing me from the windowseat. A nightmare, yes, but MY nightmare until the day she dies.

I8toys · 04/06/2020 10:29

I've seen so many people get pets over this period - its fucking irresponsible especially with vet care being locked down as well. I hope they have been called out on it - arseholes.

AWiseWomanOnceSaidFuckThisShit · 04/06/2020 10:42

And what if a random "loving" new owner turns out to be someone seeking bait on the Internet for an underground dog fight? Stupid bitch!

ArthurMrdr2 · 04/06/2020 10:58

It's more than likely to be a puppy farm

I said "may" consider it because I don't know how a virtual office is going to work as I've been furloughed since 1st April. My job definately does not entail being on a screen from 8am til 6pm (I only work school hours anyway) and my work are pretty relaxed about stuff like that and not spending all our time at our desks so long as we get the work done. I will give virtual working from home a good 6 months to find out how it's going to work before even entertaining the idea of a puppy. I just can get to grips with the idea that people are stupid enough to get a puppy knowing that at some point they will have to go back to work

Dartsplayer · 04/06/2020 14:09

can't

MrsBungle · 04/06/2020 14:46

Awful and it just shows the greed rather than concern for the puppy by selling him on - could have given him to a rescue. We got a puppy during lock down. We had her reserved since her mum was pregnant. She has just had her second vaccinations today - all of our local vets are open for this. Both dh and I work from home opposite ends of the week although she will be getting used to having the kids at home which won't last forever .

I'm not saying there aren't people who dump puppies once the cute wears off, but this is also an ideal time for puppy farms and dealers to get rid of older pups they couldn't sell.
