Weird title I know. Apologies.
But myself and OH were just discussing my legs. Or more specifically my foot.
I was stretching my leg/foot out (as one does) and he jumped in horror saying 'Ew, that's disgusting?' After much questioning it transpires that I can bend my foot down enough with an outstretched leg so that it's just one straight line (hard to explain).
He tried it and his ankles won't go halfway near to a straight line with his leg.
Is it men? Is it me (dancer all my youth) or can everybody but him do it and I'm not a freak?

I can do it
I can also still get toes to head on one side and foot behind head on other side
Never been a dancer or gymnast and am 56
DS 27 can do neither

WeightGate · 02/06/2020 21:03

Yes. It lies like that naturally.

nugget18 · 02/06/2020 21:04

I can on one leg. The other one was sprained a few months ago, and hasn't regained its flexibility.

DarklyDreamingDexter · 02/06/2020 21:04

Yep, I can do it. So can my DP, I just asked him to demonstrate!

GimmeAy · 02/06/2020 21:08

Lol, poor men up and down the country being told to point their toes haha.

Yes I can,

What happens when he lays on his stomach with his feet flat on the bed? Can he not lay like that?

rosecreakybex · 02/06/2020 21:09

Yep I can do it. And I'm fat with old arthritic joints

My2catsarefab · 02/06/2020 21:10

Yes i can do it - was a dancer when young

GimmeAy · 02/06/2020 21:11

DP was a footballer all his life (socially), now a builder, so physically quite strong really. Just thought it weird that he thought I was weird! In fairness to him, I think the sight of ankle bones and bones in my feet freaked him out more than the position of my foot.

Nottherealslimshady · 02/06/2020 21:11

I can but I have very flexible joints.

SoupDragon · 02/06/2020 21:11

Even DS2 (19) can do it with his inflexible rugby paying legs.

He looked at me as if I was mad when I asked him. I can't imagine why.

Nottherealslimshady · 02/06/2020 21:12

Footballers dont have good flexibility in their legs due to the buildup of muscle, so my boxing trainer says

Nottherealslimshady · 02/06/2020 21:14

@ElectricTonight I cannot for the life of me workout what you mean?

nugget18 · 02/06/2020 21:15

In the leg that I cant, I also can't kneel up or lie on my belly with my foot flat. It's very frustrating.

GimmeAy · 02/06/2020 21:17

I actually have never noticed? Maybe he stays on his toes when flat on his stomach? Must observe.

Harriedharriet · 02/06/2020 21:17

OP - is he inflexible in other ways? I bet this is just the tip of the iceberg and he has just revealed his true self. Run for the hills OP. Dump the evil bastard!

GimmeAy · 02/06/2020 21:18

Oh his bags are packed already Harried!

I thought everyone could do this.
When we are allowed round people, I will be asking everyone I meet if they can do it or not loool.

Someone mentioned sleeping in bed. A few years ago, my feet seemed to forget how to work when in bed. Somehow spent the night on my stomach and toes on the mattress. Oh the pain when I woke up, couple of days later it was suggested to get my toes checked out. Dislocated 5 of my toes 🤣 No one ever believes when I say It happened when I sleep, even hospital staff give me the yea bollocks look. Until I spend a night in hospital and they see how weird I sleep.

bubblev · 02/06/2020 21:19

I don't understand, do you mean stretching with a lifted leg & pointed toe

Likethebattle · 02/06/2020 21:20

Yes but I have hyper mobile joints.

BellyDancer124 · 02/06/2020 21:20

Dancer here... I can do it!

canigooutyet · 02/06/2020 21:21

Isn’t that why footballers do ballet for the calf muscles etc, to keep them flexible or nimble.

Zilla1 · 02/06/2020 21:22

Oestrogen and joint laxity ...

bubblev · 02/06/2020 21:22

if it's what I think I need a pic of what it looks like when you can't as I can't imagine.

canigooutyet · 02/06/2020 21:22

@bubblev
Sit or lie down, your leg straight and flex your toes like you are doing an on toes ballet pose.

Instead of air guitar think air ballet
