Settle an argument - can you form a straight line from knee to toe?

Weird title I know. Apologies.
But myself and OH were just discussing my legs. Or more specifically my foot.
I was stretching my leg/foot out (as one does) and he jumped in horror saying 'Ew, that's disgusting?' After much questioning it transpires that I can bend my foot down enough with an outstretched leg so that it's just one straight line (hard to explain).
He tried it and his ankles won't go halfway near to a straight line with his leg.
Is it men? Is it me (dancer all my youth) or can everybody but him do it and I'm not a freak?

Yes, your toes would be pointed down I suppose, but your whole ankle is one vertical line if you get me?

I can also do this. Your OH is a freak.

panicstationsready · 02/06/2020 20:23

I can too - and I'm in my 60s, but was a keen gymnast in my youth....

GimmeAy · 02/06/2020 20:24

Flaskmaster yes I've seen that. Must try it out!

Do you mean point your foot straight out so basically it’s a straight line from knee to tip of toe? Then yes and so can my husband.

I think it’s quite normal to be able to.

UnitedRoad · 02/06/2020 20:25

I’m the furthest thing from a dancer you’ll ever see, but I can do it. Both daughters can. Ones a dancer, the other is dyspraxic. Husband, who is very sporty, can’t.

Bluntness100 · 02/06/2020 20:25

I think you need to post a pic op!

Megan2018 · 02/06/2020 20:25

I can’t but my joints are absolutely buggered from years of injuries (horse).
It’s any wonder I’m still walking tbh!

daisypond · 02/06/2020 20:26

Yes, I can too.

GimmeAy · 02/06/2020 20:27

Yes, exactly this

Yep. Mine flop that far on their own when laying down or hanging off the end of a deck chair or whatever. If i 'push' i can get my foot even lower than the straight line. IYSWIM?

X ballet dancer. But - so can all 4 of my DDs and only 2 of them did ballet. DH? Nope Grin His feet stick up even in bed like an Egyptian mummy!

LellyMcKelly · 02/06/2020 20:28

I can do it, and both my DD and DS can.

pussycatinboots · 02/06/2020 20:29

I'm more hippo than dancer Grin
I can do it.
DH can't.

Shallwedancetomojito · 02/06/2020 20:29

Doing it as I type 😜

But then again I can also stretch my thumb back to touch my wrist.

Artartart · 02/06/2020 20:29

Like pointing your whole foot forward? I can do that and I'm not very flexible.

canigooutyet · 02/06/2020 20:29

So your toes look like the ballerina stood on toes thing?

Smallsteps88 · 02/06/2020 20:29

I can. I’m not a dancer or even vaguely in the vicinity of flexible. Grin

GimmeAy · 02/06/2020 20:30

Maybe it's just some men then. Well, I'm going to taunt him with my outstretched foot for the evening mwhahahah (he has a weird phobia of bones).

AlwaysAnotherName · 02/06/2020 20:31

I can. I used to do gymnastics, but not sure if that's relevant because I was dreadful! (Could never master the splits, for instance...)

SnugglySnerd · 02/06/2020 20:32

I can, dh can't. He is really inflexible though.

GreyishDays · 02/06/2020 20:32

I said I can’t, but I think I’m unusual. I struggle with yoga poses like child’s pose that the rest of my yoga class can do. (Class is full of 40 ish mums.)

JesusInTheCabbageVan · 02/06/2020 20:33

Had to go and disturb DH doing bedtime Grin Both he and DS can do it. Thought for a minute I was special Sad

RoLaren · 02/06/2020 20:34

I hope you twatted him for calling any part of you 'disgusting'!

canigooutyet · 02/06/2020 20:34

@Laiste mine are the same. So are my dc’s Male and female.

My sons are very flexible and can do the hands held behind their backs and pull themselves out.

None of us are dancers. Oh aside from one, but she takes after me unfortunately clumsy and uncoordinated. She lasted about a term.
