Smoking in the supermarket queue

AIBU to think this is vile and selfish?

Was stood queueing to get into a supermarket with one oft he kids and the man directly in front of us was smoking. It was a particularly strong and manky smelling cigarette too. The breeze was blowing it directly in our faces. I'm not normally super precious about people smoking outside if they're away from others, but when it's being blown in my face and I can't move away without losing my place in the queue I find it objectionable.

I didn't say anything because my daughter cringes when I "cause a scene" but if this happens again when I'm alone WIBU to ask them to extinguish it? Furthermore, if they refuse, WIBU to knock it out of their hand with my walking stick thus maintaining safe social distancing?

I know when I smoked, I was oblivious to how other people felt about it. I was in the queue for Wickes today and they've got no smoking signs up, so hopefully that'll become the norm everywhere.

It would annoy me too and im a smoker. Why people cant wait to have 1, gives the rest of us a bad name.

I did once snatch a cigarette out of someone's hand and chuck it in a drain, but they were smoking underneath the NICU window where my very sick baby was, so I have no regrets.

You could have asked them to move and if they didn't, get someone else from the hospital to move them? You don't need to be aggressive to people to get them to stop doing something.

One day, you're going to annoy the wrong person. Good luck on that day when you do, you're going to need it. Calm down and think rationally.

I was in a queue at Wickes last weekend. A man walked out of the queue by backtracking and walking past everyone in the queue. A few minutes later he resumed his place in the queue by walking back in again past everyone. He'd left to have a cigarette. I'd have preferred him to just light up in the queue to be honest.

I did tell one of the members of staff that he hadn't been pulled up on it by security so hopefully they won't let it happen again.

I have noticed this in queues a couple of times now. It's ignorant and disgusting.

I stand facing them and start coughing and hacking and take a puff of inhaler when they look. Mostly they rather sheepishly put it out. Haven't tried that since coronavirus though, you'd probably clear the queue in seconds!

I was stood at the smoking section at a premier inn once, having a cig. A woman came up to me stood next to me and said I was disgusting and should be ashamed that I was making her lung condition worse. Needless to say she got mouthful back and I pointed out she was the one who had come and stood in the smoking area. She soon flounced off chuntering away to herself

Smokers are grim and selfish.
I love an anti-smoking post - it really brings out the best in folk.
