Can you believe that Trump has just tweeted this comment? He is talking about the protests about George Floyd's death. He has also called the protestors "thugs".

Twitter has put a warning on his twitter post, saying that it "glorifies violence". It is also racist!

The "historical context" is a reference to the late 1960s, when the phrase "when the looting starts, the shooting starts" was coined by Miami Police Chief Walter Headley, in reference to his aggressive policing policies in black neighbourhoods.

I think she hates him.

He has been accused of multiple rapes and sexual assaults. One of his ex wives documented a rape in a book.

He sounds terrifying.

mbosnz · 03/06/2020 17:57

If I were her I'd be putting a large leg of lamb on the menu, and building yet another patio.

SimonJT · 03/06/2020 18:17

Interesting is the wrong world, but I am genuinely interested how history will teach about this vile creature in 20-30 years time.

When the looting starts, the shooting starts.

The image of Melania Trump is chilling, clearly now is not the time for cheesy grins for the press and unsuprisingly the US President seems completely oblivious to that, she also seems totaly uncomfortable in his presence. I don't have too much sympathy for her after the birther allegations and the I Don't Care parka, but its clearly now no more than a marriage of convenience, I don't see them being married when hes no longer president.

DuncinToffee · 03/06/2020 18:58

Imagine having to spend time with him in a bunker

news.sky.com/story/donald-trump-says-he-went-to-white-house-bunker-to-inspect-it-not-because-of-protests-11999850

It is hard to feel sorry for her but I do hope she gets away from him.

DrDavidBanner · 03/06/2020 19:18

RIP David McAtee.

Seriously if Trump gets in again in November I don't know what will become of USA. he man has proved its not incompetence but contempt that he is showing to his electorate.

Chillipeanuts · 03/06/2020 20:26

I just can’t fathom this woman, at all. She’s no dumbo. Why the hell did she marry him? Is a despicable man’s money really so appealing when you’re an intelligent, capable young woman?
I saw the two posing together somewhere, last week, her in a black dress with the ubiquitous sunglasses. Looked like the double to me. Different shaped chin, ever so slightly plumper physique and nodding in agreement way too much.
If I were “@thereal” Melania I would be practising serious social distancing.

PotholeParadise · 03/06/2020 23:23

When she met Trump she didn't have US citizenship and Trump was 16 years younger than he is now. She was 35, and would have wanted to move out of modelling. I imagine he was a lot more personable, and had far more verbal filters than he does now. At the time, she would have figured she could divorce him any time she liked, just like his first two wives had.

Now he's actually president and has the whole Republican party rallying around him, so she is in about the same position as Henry VIII's wives were. I bet she never envisaged this when she married him.

Notverybright · 04/06/2020 06:53

It seems to me that his presidential run was at least partly motivated by the fact that it would force his wife into staying with him.

I agree with pps that she has been racist and complicit, but I still can’t help myself but feels bit sorry for her. I find it grimly fascinating to see her body language so at odds with the things she says.

I expect a book deal in 10 years in which she says she didn’t mean any of it. Too late, this behaviour from Trump is intolerable and anyone going a long with it is disgusting.

SimonJT on how history will see Trump, this is an intersting thread from David Allen Green

This shit just got real ..

When the looting starts, the shooting starts.
When the looting starts, the shooting starts.
When the looting starts, the shooting starts.
wafflyversatile · 04/06/2020 10:39

Perhaps what America needs is more Rosa Parks'?
We do not need more rosa parks.

What America and the uk need is less structural racism. Then we would need fewer rosa parks and fewer protests than end up in violence.

Also there are plenty of rosa parks. The police treat them like shit too.

PotholeParadise · 04/06/2020 10:39

I'm going to put my money where my mouth is and buy some Lego to support this.

Just saying ...

Video of police pushing over and injuring man and then ignoring him, knowing that they were being filmed.

twitter.com/skynews/status/1268804753426976769?s=21

Notverybright · 05/06/2020 10:34

I keep wondering why police/soldiers keep doing these things if they if they know they’re being filmed. But now I think maybe they want to be filmed doing these things. Maybe they’re trying to inspire fear. Maybe that’s what trump meant in that “dominate them ” phone call.

Notverybright · 05/06/2020 10:36

Maybe that’s a very obvious conclusion to have come to actually Grin

DGRossetti · 05/06/2020 11:07

This pic resonates with DW as she is lucky enough to use a wheelchair. As you can see, unlike a pram, it's not easy to bump a wheelchair up a kerb, which is why I get unreasonably irritated when people try to equate the two. You can see how a blocked dropped kerb might cause no end of problems and easily add 500m to 1km to a journey.

DW has MS, so gets fatigued easily too. Although as we can see from this picture, it's probably better not to go out at all.

When the looting starts, the shooting starts.
DGRossetti · 05/06/2020 11:13

and ...

When the looting starts, the shooting starts.
B1rdbra1n · 05/06/2020 11:19

Knowing that they were being filmed
This is to send a very clear message that they they will not be accountable and are above the law, is this really happening
I'm horrified

B1rdbra1n · 05/06/2020 11:20

Or it's being done to deliberately inflame the protesters so as to provide grounds for a more draconian response from the authorities

ShinyFootball · 05/06/2020 12:56

09:19DuncinToffee

That video. Wow.

And it's worse than that. 4 or 5 police went to stop, were obviously worried etc, and their colleagues moved them on. So they have been ordered to behave like that is my read on that video.

DuncinToffee · 05/06/2020 13:56

ShinyFootball indeed

That is a chilling image DGR, I just hope someone gave him a helping hand.

DGRossetti · 05/06/2020 14:01

That is a chilling image DGR, I just hope someone gave him a helping hand.

If you look, the nice policeman is about to fire a baton round at the workshy git. As we all know he doesn't need the wheelchair. Just playing for sympathy.

Oh, sorry, that's what DW gets told on occasion. Here in the UK.
