Just that really-what do people think?

The subject of the question.

Alsohuman · 30/05/2020 13:47

Ah, the leftist chatterati? That term means nothing to me so I’m none the wiser.

Thelnebriati · 30/05/2020 13:53

Bloody women and their inane chatter, eh?

TeAmoCorazon · 30/05/2020 13:56

Absolutely. It gets tedious.

RufustheLanglovingreindeer · 30/05/2020 13:59

Oh sorry cake

I completely missed your post

I have been on covid threads i have seen people say that about tory voters, fat people, people who don’t pay tax i say as well

But i still haven’t seen ‘die tory pig posts’

And people aren’t linking (which I appreciate can be very difficult) so even now ive not seen posts like that

RufustheLanglovingreindeer · 30/05/2020 14:00

I saw as well...not i say as well

Doh

RufustheLanglovingreindeer · 30/05/2020 14:09

I’d have reported them for a start

derxa · 30/05/2020 14:10

I'm on MN far too much. It draws me like a moth to a flame. I like the site because of the wide differences in life experiences and conversely the things we have in common. But sometimes I wish I was left wing or right wing and certain of my views. It must be quite comforting being a member of Momentum or conversely an extreme right winger. MN started off as a group of left wing Metropolitan 'mums' and that's still the aspiration. And I don't fit in.

Andante57 · 30/05/2020 17:03

Rufus a post saying ‘die Tory pig’ would almost certainly be reported and deleted so it couldn’t be linked.

squid4 · 30/05/2020 17:15

I live up north in a city and work in a hospital and this site seems fairly right wing to me. (Incredibly) high earners, lots of I'm-alright-jack types. Certainly not people I encounter in reality.
There are plenty of left wing people here as well, though.

squid4 · 30/05/2020 17:20

That might be just the vocal people.

I appreciate the debates though I think there's some intelligent stuff here even if I don't agree with lots of it.

Hopoindown31 · 30/05/2020 17:28

"Leftist" is brexiter Tory for "anyone I disagree with right now". As soon as I see the word in someone post I know the axe has been grinding for some time.

If you don't like it, don't take part in it.

JessicaDay · 30/05/2020 17:30

Nope

LellyMcKelly · 30/05/2020 17:35

I think it’s fairly representative of views nationally, as amply demonstrated by the posts on this threat (though there is some evidence that women overall tend to be more left wing than men which would make sense given we’ve had to, and still do, have to fight for equality). I’m fairly centre left, but could cope with Cameron as the face of conservatism, particularly when he was tempered by the Lib Dems, until he called the referendum. Corbyn was a disaster as a leader. He couldn’t command the respect of the press, his party, the opposition or the public and came across as ineffectual and weak. He lost an election to Theresa May, at the time the worst PM I can remember though she has been eclipsed by Cummings and his sidekick. I’m quietly confident about Starmer. He has been excellent at PMQ, ripping Johnson a new one in every exchange. Finally, someone who can start to hold him to account which he sorely needs. If he can unite Labour he may have a decent stab at winning the next election.

Thats why i said it would be difficult

But the thread it was on could be...but again, still difficult

I was given to understand that it wasn’t a one off...more a regular thing

Leftist posters piling in to applaud and all that...

But anyway...too difficult to prove either way

Andante57 · 30/05/2020 17:45

‘If you don't like it, don't take part in it.

So if a poster disagrees with what is being said he/she shouldn’t comment?
Would you prefer only left wing people took part in debates on mumsnet?

Andante57 · 30/05/2020 17:55

Rufusthelang

What about these comments taken from a thread last year having a go at a poster.

I think mummy just struggles in general, with grammar, critical thinking, economics. Just a repeater of soundbites
Mummy has no clue what shes spewing. Her posts read like brainfart with no internal filter.
The only "light hearted Brexit relief" on this thread is mummy's entertaining, deluded musings.
Oh dear you really aren't very bright are you?
Are you from the UK, @mummmy2017 . That doesn't sound like a statement from someone who regularly speaks English.
I think mummy just struggles in general, with grammar, critical thinking, economics. Just a repeater of soundbites
Why is your grammar so terrible, mummy?
But bots usually try to have at least a modicum of coherence. Mummy seems to be simply hard of thinking.
The grammar is appalling as well.

I literally said in my first post on this particular issue that people say mean things...especially on the brexit thread

The shittiest thing i say involved a biscuit...not saying what it was but it was just mean

And I doubt you’ll find a post of mine that Doesn’t agree that some dreadful things are said on the brexit threads

But ive still not seen ‘die tory pigs’ that had a load of posters clapping in support

You can post every mean thing thats ever been said...but i still won’t have seen ‘die tory pig’

RufustheLanglovingreindeer · 30/05/2020 18:09

I’ll quote myself

Ive seen people who say they voted leave/remain give their opinions and sometimes they can be very mean...wouldn’t argue with that at all

Miafey · 30/05/2020 18:18

My only memory of mummmy2017 as a poster was on the thread about the Monty Hall maths problem, when she spent 20 odd pages stubbornly ignoring logic and continuing to try to explain to maths teachers and degree-holders why their maths was wrong. It was a perfect storm of ignorance and misplaced superiority. Genuinely the most frustrating thread I've seen on here. I'm not surprised she's drawn ire in politics threads.

chomalungma · 30/05/2020 18:27

Oh yes..... it started with the chances of getting 2 cards the same when you draw 2 cards...

(Maybe we should start that again?)

Alsohuman · 30/05/2020 18:45

That particular poster is a very extreme example. You can hear heads banging keyboards all over the country with her sometimes.

binkyboinky · 30/05/2020 18:49

Don't be stupid. This place is full of idiot mumsy conservatives who think they speak for all women.

No it isn’t. And if you think it is, you’re tearing the wrong threads.
