I wrote to my Tory MP and got the party line answer (exceptional circumstances, didn't break any laws, entirely reasonable, welfare of a vulnerability year old at stake, draw a line under this and move on etc etc etc). and then just to make sure I was properly pissed off he threw a bit of tone policing - 'some of the language and tone in this debate has been very unpleasant'.
