AIBU?

"Downing St. considers the Dominic Cummings matter closed". AIBU that that statement, more than the actions of Cummings himself, makes my blood boil?

I'm assuming the "so you can all fuck off" at the end of the statement is implied.

As well as HIGNFY if anyone gets a chance the Last leg is hilarious.
Sue Perkins had me in stitches.
She said the worst bit was sticking minutes out the day after. Can't remember exact channels and ministers etc but it was along the lines of

"Gove, you get on LBC and tell them you've done it before"
"Matt, you get on the BBC and say when you had a sty you flew a chinnock to Reading"

Letter from Eton College to Stanley Johnson regarding his son, Boris, dated 1982:

“Boris really has adopted a disgracefully cavalier attitude to his classical studies... Boris sometimes seems affronted when criticised for what amounts to a gross failure of responsibility (and surprised at the same time that he was not appointed Captain of the School for next half): I think he honestly believes that it is churlish of us not to regard him as an exception, one who should be free of the network of obligation which binds everyone else"

This could be his end of year report for his time as PM. It’s truly uncanny. I guess leopards can't change their spots.

@PotholeParadise

You know the weird thing? Every time I see the shortening, I never hear what it stands for in my head. I always put in an extra 'i' in it and pronounce it to rhyme with dignify.

So do I. Really glad I’m not the only one.

what's HIGNFY?

Report

HIGNFY was excellent tonight -thank you for raising a smile over this debacle, I haven't laughed so much since back when I watched "the nation's sweetheart" give his cock and bull account in the rose garden . They may still remain in post but their credibility is zero, they are the laughing stock of the nation and they must have done some deals with the devil to keep Tory MPs in line, they must be so thrilled with that win!

Report
Sleipnirthewonderhorse · 30/05/2020 00:04

I wrote to my Tory MP and got the party line answer (exceptional circumstances, didn't break any laws, entirely reasonable, welfare of a vulnerability year old at stake, draw a line under this and move on etc etc etc). and then just to make sure I was properly pissed off he threw a bit of tone policing - 'some of the language and tone in this debate has been very unpleasant'. Very on brand I thought. Not sure whether to bother writing back again. He'll probably tell me I'm being shrill f I do. Or ignore me because we've all moved on, obviously.

Likewise. Both Johnson and Cummings both totally taken apart.

I'm pretty sure it isn't as bricked up as you would like it to be.
Cummings might still be in post and Johnson may consider the matter done with. But these things stain governments. The seeds of Johnson's incompetence have been sown in even some of his most ardent fans who thought he was just a harmless, funny guy. Now they can see he is a blustering buffoon. Shaming the position he holds. Presiding over one of the worst death tolls in this pandemic. Holding out the promise of a bbq to tell us to 'look over there'.
No this is not over.
And journalists will be prowling ready to pounce.

I rest my case. You have nothing to offer whatsoever apart from rudeness.

Whereas what you wrote was perfectly polite? Do spare me the hypocrisy.

Focusing on more important things, such as erm....the pandemic... which is what this is about, so there's that response. I'm not forgetting Jack shit, just so you know.

@PlanDeRaccordement

(Universal Credit Rollout Scandal) and be promoted. All without a whimper from the good bourgeoisie citizens and media of the U.K

I was one of the frothers. There are a few others still around.

a. We warned about the bedroom tax And that it WOULD affect disabled people. Got told we were scaremongering.

We warned about UC And how people ALREADY working would be made to attend the Job Centre. Got told we were scaremongering and not to be so bloody silly , why on earth would people already working be made to sign on , ad infinitum.

Ditto DLA and PIP

There was a poster on here called Huntycat who was great at explaining the finer details circa 2011 /2012

Could Have Told You So.
