You've got really low standards if you think Boris is doing well/okay

Day by Day it just gets worse. Bodies piling up, lies being denied or covered up, blatant and shameless cronyism and corruption yet Bojo fangirls and fanboys keep lapping it up. What does he have to do to blow it huh? How can your standards be so flipping low?

OP posts:
Strugglingtodomybest · 28/05/2020 10:08

Posters bring up Corbyn to distract the conversation away from the actual question, which was:

What does he have to do to blow it huh?

ssd · 28/05/2020 10:10

He just has to piss off Cummings, that'll do it.

HesterShaw1 · 28/05/2020 10:10

As in not literally. The death toll has been appalling.

For the posters asking "Could you have done better?", yes actually I think I could have done.

Track and trace needs the population to trust that those in charge have the situation under control and their best interests had heart. Johnson has utterly squandered the goodwill he had at the start of the crisis in the UK. He has pissed it up the wall. Fuckwit

NiceLegsShameAboutTheFace · 28/05/2020 10:11

Drama, muchly. I went to Asda yesterday and never fell arse over tit over any bodies Hmm

Guess, my standards are just pretty low though!

hfrdgftcsdg · 28/05/2020 10:17

If you want to change the World, go home and love your family.

How simple is that quote?. You are choosing to make your life stressful and un peaceful.

Shut off the TV and the internet and spend your time maki g yourself and your family as happy as you can.

If you get so upset about politics at a time line this you need to re-evaluate.

There are so many of us living through the same circumstances as you but we are not angry, upset, worried or pissed off.

LaurieMarlow · 28/05/2020 10:19

Well given that excess deaths are at more than 60,000, yes your standards strike me as low.

Monday

Been on here a while and really I should know better than to post on here. This site is so unbelievably anti Tory and so left wing it's laughable.

The Conservatives are in government for another four years , winning by a landslide election and gaining 80 seats and Brexit is happening.

All the venomous threads and posts aren't going to change that. Fill your boots with the constant nasty posts if it makes you feel better.

You're right but it won't stop the rabid left wingers on here. Their party was ravaged at the last election, they have zero power or influence and while these countless threads bashing the Tories will achieve absolutely nothing, I'm assuming it makes them feel better.
KenDodd · 28/05/2020 10:24

Those who think Boris is doing a good job or the best he can, like to see you do better etc.
Do you think the same of China for allowing the virus to escape the country? Did they do their best or should the world have expected better?

Kittenlicker · 28/05/2020 10:27

@RainMustFall you can not with in all seriousness think that BJ and his cronies are doing a good job? I can not get my head round Tory voters who are still sticking by this bumbling idiot. It doesn’t matter what labour might and might not have done, there were other options. What matters is that clearly BJ is running a shit show and how long will it take folk to realise? Why defend him? Bonkers.

KenDodd · 28/05/2020 10:32

I think it's the cult of Brexit. Brexit is a shit idea and voters have nailed themselves too it against all the evidence, they're therefore tied to the Brexiteers. No amount of evidence will move them, it's flat earth.

StoneofDestiny · 28/05/2020 10:36

Rubbish.
People are upset about the way a pandemic has been handled and the lies the government is spewing out. You hide under a bush and worry about yourself if you like, but thank goodness there are people prepared to speak out about the carnage this government has created out of a crisis. Speaking out to bring about a better government that is accountable.

I think Cummings, worrying only about himself and his family, taking your attitude that led him to transport their Covid infections at risk to other peoples' families.

Eskarina1 · 28/05/2020 10:37

This is not a left wing / right wing issue. In fact, I'm pretty impressed with the general level of support which is more left wing than traditionally Conservative and with the lack of big bailouts for e.g. Virgin. Early indications are that they are planning on fairly sensible measures for recovery rather than a (economically) disastrous return to austerity. I'm not even upset about the impending no deal Brexit.

Genuinely, there was a point I was glad the Conservatives won because I don't think Corbyn's Labour could have got the press on board in the same way.

This is just about incompetence. A clear message is essential, because reducing lockdown is a balancing act so people crowding onto tube trains or all rushing to Weston means other parts of the economy can't reopen or will be shut back down.

Not opening schools in a way that reassures people that it's safe and well planned is a disaster for the economy and for the financial and emotional wellbeing of largely women and children.

The complete failure to give a clear message and consistent advice sits with the individuals not their politics. There are plenty of right wing voters on Mumsnet and more still who lent their vote to the Tories for personal reasons. My FIL is a red wall vote lender, very pro brexit, and he's furious.

There are competent Tories who could have done a much much better job.

BlackberryCane · 28/05/2020 11:05

There are indeed eskarina. But unfortunately, Johnson primarily chose his Cabinet based on loyalty.

Interesting that you expect Asda to be the most likely location for a pile of bodies Confused
GuyFawkesDay · 28/05/2020 11:17

I'm very much a floating voter.

I was very happy to give BJ the benefit of the doubt. I was "they are doing their best in incredibly difficult circumstances"

Then the wheels have just come off the Boris train, haven't they?

It's become obvious who is really running the show.

I will never vote Tory again. Ever. And I've voted for 4 political parties over my lifetime. But this fiasco has made my mind up.

Might I respectfully suggest that it’s because some people take this approach that corrupt regimes succeed?

The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing.

BoingBoingyBoing · 28/05/2020 11:32

I'm entirely confident I could do better than Boris. He's a fucking moron.

I can get through a fucking sentence without breaking eye contact and dropping about 50 ums, ers and y'knows, so that puts me well ahead just for starters.

People who think he is doing a good job aren't paying attention to what is going on.

Eve · 28/05/2020 11:59

thegreenlight

That head in the hands pose being shared is supposedly from years ago taken the morning after the night before at the Conservative party conference.

Probably looks like that due to a hangover! 😁

stophuggingme · 28/05/2020 12:03

Even if you went potholing your expectations of this chump couldn’t be low enough

Idotoo1 · 28/05/2020 13:26

these countless threads bashing the Tories will achieve absolutely nothing,

It really isn’t a party political matter, it is a matter of life and death.

MarshaBradyo · 28/05/2020 13:29

This whole mess is bigger than it needed to be. A shame they couldn’t handle it better.

Lenny1980 · 28/05/2020 13:33

I’ve not read the whole thread because I couldn’t get past the “bodies piling up” comment. Disgusting way to talk about all those who have unfortunately lost their lives.

I wonder how many of those blatantly breaking the social distancing rules today are also Boris haters? My local park is full of multiple family meet ups today. You’ll have those people to thank for the second wave.

eveoha · 28/05/2020 13:52

Which - if I remember - was exactly what Keir Starmer asked for at the commencement of his tenure as Leader of the Opposition

VeryQuaintIrene · 28/05/2020 14:05

He's bloody useless. And as for people claiming that it's easy to judge in hindsight, when I came to the UK in early March to see elderly parents, my half-sister who's an NHS anesthetist was really worried about me coming into direct contact with my dad because of the potential for infection from COVID 19. If she, as an ordinary doctor, was already aware of the risks that early, why the hell weren't the people who are supposedly guiding this country?

StoneofDestiny · 28/05/2020 14:07

My local park is full of multiple family meet ups today. You’ll have those people to thank for the second wave.

They are just copying Cummings - and feeling justified by him

You've got really low standards if you think Boris is doing well/okay
