You've got really low standards if you think Boris is doing well/okay

Day by Day it just gets worse. Bodies piling up, lies being denied or covered up, blatant and shameless cronyism and corruption yet Bojo fangirls and fanboys keep lapping it up. What does he have to do to blow it huh? How can your standards be so flipping low?

OP posts:
Kittenlicker · 28/05/2020 00:26

South Korea had previously experienced SARS epidemic and they learnt valuable lessons from that and again, tested intensively.

PhilCornwall1 · 28/05/2020 05:44

The government have done as good a job as I expected them to and I set a pretty low bar for any government.

SantiagoSky · 28/05/2020 06:26

I can’t understand why some posters are making excuses for the incompetent and self serving tools.

Tellmetruth4 · 28/05/2020 06:33

I know nobody in real life who thinks this is all going well but they don’t know what to do about it. We’re stuck with these people for 5 years.

The next scandal will be the £250m given to Cummings friends company for the app which doesn’t work. They’ll quietly shelve it so the money’s down the drain just like the missing Garden Bridge money.

StrictlyAFemaleFemale · 28/05/2020 06:41

He's doing his best. Well his best isnt good enough.

Did anyone see the geordie woman reading his press brief? It really showed how poor he is but because of the patriarchy we seem to swallow it if its a posh male voice. Is there a name for the phenomenon where we associatr posh male voices with authority? Im sure Ive seen something on qi...

SpecialKakapo · 28/05/2020 06:42

For every chip that is successfully taken out of the country's unity and momentum, the more likely it gets that people will be out having brawls on beaches.

Attacking the group morale will kill people... but you do your thing I guess.

Oh the irony...

araiwa · 28/05/2020 06:43

Everyone i know looking at the uk from the outside is looking on in horror. Same usa

Whoda thought that electing a populist with a history of being a lying cheating pos would lead to disaster... i believe brazils the same too

madcatladyforever · 28/05/2020 06:45

I needed to believe the government were doing their best during this crisis for my own sanity but I'm afraid I've taken the rose tinted glasses off.
Dominic Cummings and the idiocy surrounding that finally did it for me.
And the troubles we've had in the NHS where I work.

Frazzled2207 · 28/05/2020 06:47

Do people who support the government realise that per million population we currently have the highest death rate of ALL in the entire world? Worse than the USA even. The poor folks in Brazil are catching up though and I bet the Tories are hoping they take over so we don’t end up the worst of all at the end of the day. Boris is a complete fool but the Brazilians sadly have an even bigger nutcase in charge.

In terms of what I could have done better, well the glaringly obvious one would be lock down sooner- I remember being incredulous that other countries were doing this while the best Boris could come up with was “please wash your hands”.

MysteriesOfTheOrganism · 28/05/2020 06:49

We have the second largest number of deaths in the world (USA is top). That is a shameful statistic, and the government must take the blame.

PrimeroseHillAnnie · 28/05/2020 06:50

Is that you Keir ?

Spillinteas · 28/05/2020 06:51

And Jeramy Corbin would have done better would he? Grin

Can you imagine Diane Abbot addressing the nation every night Shock

The irony of BJ being the head of a cult! The only reason BJ is in power is because how shit JC and his cronies were.

Labour - you’ve only got yourself to blame for not kicking that bag of jelly out! accept it. You reap what you sow.

Hopefully now KS has finally been allowed to take his place the next election might get normal people an even footing.

0blio · 28/05/2020 06:57

He was going to Barnard Castle for work to do a sweetheart deal with GSK.

Absolutely this. Do they think his cock and bull story is convincing enough to cover this up?

Figgygal · 28/05/2020 06:57

They haven’t seen through him yet
He’s completely out of his depth
His government and him particularly have lost respect and tbh I think Theresa May would have done a better job

You've got low standards if posting things like this is the best way you can entertain yourself

MadameMarie · 28/05/2020 07:03

@LaurieMarlow People will defend the indefensible because of Brexit. Lose Boris and Cummings and that gets watered down.

LaurieMarlow · 28/05/2020 07:09

I’m sure most governments have done what they thought was best. But the OP is referring to the UK government and so I have chosen to highlight some of the more positive aspects of what has taken place in the UK.

Other governments managed to do those things and keep their death tolls considerably lower than the U.K.

Seems rather odd to be looking for positives when U.K. has the highest death toll per million in the world, but then I’m staggered at what low standards people have with relation to this government.

KeepWashingThoseHands · 28/05/2020 07:11

I agree there have been serious errors in the handling but to those posters saying people outside the UK are looking at us 'with horror'.

Really? Let's not exaggerate and if anything the word 'us' needs to be BoJo. I'm in contact with people from the US and some European countries daily due to my work. In 3 months I haven't heard a single thing like this other than people comparing notes on lockdown etc. People are not invested/interested in what the UK govt is doing as they only care about what impacts them. People might have a view on BoJo in the same way I do other leaders but only UK psyche starts saying 'we're a joke, an embarrassment..'. I simply don't see it.

Kittenlicker · 28/05/2020 07:14

@sausagerollsandwine so what? So we are not allowed to question them? So we have to sit back and watch them completely cock up over and over? So we need to accept the fact they have mismanaged this crisis appallingly? So they don’t need to be held accountable for their actions? Yes, they have been elected but now they are in power and not acting in our best interests then we just have to sit back and shut up? So we don’t need to be f*cking angry that our friends and family members are dying because they didn’t act soon enough? Bollocks to that.

Jellybelly15 · 28/05/2020 07:15

The 'can you imagine what Corbyn would have done' debate is totally irrelevant. It's not Corbyn, it's Boris and he's done a shit job. Other than the US we have the highest death rate in the world. It's shocking. The arrogance of Boris over the Cummings thing speaks volumes about their corrupt set up and how little they value the British public. I sincerely hope it costs them the next election.

megletthesecond · 28/05/2020 07:15

Johnson wanted the title, not the work.

Now it's obvious what a lying and self serving manupulative weasel Cummings is he's shitting himself in case he loses him.
(Sorry weasels).

LaurieMarlow · 28/05/2020 07:15

People will defend the indefensible because of Brexit.

How long for though?

How many deaths will it take before these people wake the fuck up?

LaurieMarlow · 28/05/2020 07:18

The 'can you imagine what Corbyn would have done' debate is totally irrelevant. It's not Corbyn, it's Boris and he's done a shit job.

Exactly. I don’t know any other situation where these kind of points would be remotely relevant.

Imagine if you got a new job and you kept fucking it up. And your excuse was ‘well the other guy you interviewed but didn’t hire would have been even worse.’ Would that wash? Even for one tiny second? If course not.

EssentialHummus · 28/05/2020 07:41

YANBU at all. We had the distinct advantage of several weeks advance notice, and some early indications of what was working in other countries. How about:

Temperature checks of px off flights from hotspot countries?
Cancellation / postponement of large-scale sporting/music events?
Earlier and/or stricter lockdown?
Earlier implementation of temperature checks outside shops, train stations?
Earlier statement about the dangers of covid-19? (Remember all those people merrily skipping off to half-term ski weekends in Italy?)
Getting track and trace off the ground faster (the tech is available from other countries if you're not committed to bunging your SpAD's sister a load of dosh for it)?

But because some people might have perceived some of these things as unpopular or unduly risk-averse, they didn't happen.
