George Floyd killed my police whilst being arrested.

George Floyd was held down with a foot on his neck preventing him breathing for 8 mintues whilst being arrested in the US - during this time he started by saying he was struggling to breathe. People filmed him and attempted to tell the police that he couldn't breathe and please help him.
The police (cops) ignored the pleas. George slowly lost conciousness and then was taken away in an ambulance - he died.

I am shocked that a policeman is so out of touch with what he is doing and unaware that he is causing serious harm to a person he is arresting. I am disgusted that the cop ignore people trying to draw his attention to what he was doing.

George was black and the cop was white. There are now protests for the 4 police officers involved to be charged with murder.

I am completely shocked that the 3 other police officers didn't step in and stop the killing of this man.

YABU - the cop made a mistake in a difficult situation

YANBU - the cop should be charged with murder.

I cannot believe that the poor man spent his last minutes of life on the floor with people asking the cop to let him breathe - I guess I am in shock that this could happen. I am obvioulsy ignorant to the way some people are treated. Please do not watch the video unless fully prepared - I have never seen someone literaaly die on the floor like that whilst others want the cops to check him. He was being arrested for forgery and not armed.

If you've not watched this video already please heed warning and dont.
It's heartbreaking and beyond horrific.

Obviously 99.99% of people (you always 1 A hole who disagrees) want the cop responsible for the Death of this poor man jailed for a very very long time sadly he won't be though. The Powers that be are far above their own laws..

pumpkinbump · 29/05/2020 00:50

Leave the to the mercy oh the parents and nation. I would slaughter him without blinking.

LesbianMummies · 29/05/2020 00:56

It’s absolutely racism, the officer that knelt on his neck also has photos of himself wearing a hats with white pride and make whites great again etc. on social media. So a known racist given a position of power and allowed to murder. It’s horrific.

PlantPottingPlantPotting · 29/05/2020 01:01

@lesbianmummies my husband showed me those pictures too. I’d like to say rather shocking to show racism in such a way whilst holding down a job that gives him so much power, but it really isn’t that shocking

DippyAvocado · 29/05/2020 01:03

Sickening. I can't blame the protestors for turning to violence. In a country where a police officer feels they can do this even while knowingly being filmed, there obviously needs to be drastic action taken in the hope of getting anyone to listen.

Dougalthesyrianhamster · 29/05/2020 01:08

Now they're rioting and have begun looting stores

EmeraldShamrock · 29/05/2020 01:08

It is absolutely horrific. I don't know how the police thought they're actions were acceptable every officier there needs to be charged. Horrendous, I don't have the words. I hope he and his family get justice.

motherheroic · 29/05/2020 01:12

Why wouldn't they start rioting? The peaceful protests for the previous black men who have been murdered by cops have done fuck all. And when they tried to be peaceful this time they were tear gassed. Can't win.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 29/05/2020 01:19

I can get peoples anger hatered and vengence. However by looting in shops it's the ordinary person their hurting not the cops.

DippyAvocado · 29/05/2020 01:28

Normally, rioting and looting are things I would be completely opposed to, but this kind of police brutality against blacks has been going on for years in the US and has still not been dealt with. I can completely understand the motivations of those doing this. How bad do things have to get before somebody acts? Do they have to kneel on a child's neck and kill them?

There was already footage recently of a (black) child of about 6 being led out of their school in handcuffs and put in a police car because they hadn't done what they were told at school!

Peaceful protest will be ignored, just as it has been in the past. Awful as the riots are, they will bring more attention to this repellent crime and throw the spotlight on police brutality in the US.

PotholeParadise · 29/05/2020 01:30

It was murder. He wasn't unaware of what he was doing, unless you're also going to give Lord Voldemort the benefit of the doubt. He murdered George.

In fact, Harry Potter is more appropriate than I thought, because killing someone brutally in the way George was is like Avada Kedavra: you have to mean it.

The police officers should be charged and convicted with murder and whatever the US equivalent of aiding and abetting is.

PotholeParadise · 29/05/2020 01:35

Saw something on facebook, asking why it gets termed rioting and never rebellion.

Americans celebrate the US history of rebelling all the time. Why not use such language now?

Eminado · 29/05/2020 01:43

“Dougalthesyrianhamster

@Dougalthesyrianhamster who are “they”?

NotAgainNo · 29/05/2020 01:47

Thugs in uniform giving out jungle justice. They probably feel the need to wipe all black people away from their "great America". I'm sure they salivate each day in hopes of a call against a black person.

He's not been arrested because they know he'll be murdered in jail. They know what he did. Anyother person would be locked up by now on suspicion of murder alone, let alone with a video recording showing him committing said murder.

I also believe this @ComplaintsComplaintsComplaints

I don't get any impression that local policing in the US has any issue with racist cops. Part of it will be that police department are so small in most places, covering a tiny area, staffed by locals with local attitudes.

America is a jungle up their own backside.

I can't watch..the description here alone is heart shattering. Don't think I can handle the visuals. Poor family members seeing your loved one's life snuffed out in cold blood by a supposed "protector"! Just speechless. Poor guy, not knowing popping off to the deli would be the last he does. Wow wow wow

Strokethefurrywall · 29/05/2020 02:01

He's a mother fucking stone cold killer.

There are no two ways about this. How many more times do we have to see this shit caught on camera for USA to realise that it is a fundamentally racist country?

And I live a short flight away so it's my closest main country. One things for sure, growing up in south west London to a mixed race family we were well aware of racism, but because of our lighter skin color treated no differently. In our neck of the woods privileged was privileged no matter your skin color.

The idea that this institutional racism exists and is tolerated and even encouraged in what is supposed to be the freest country in the world turns my goddamn stomach.

Tonz · 29/05/2020 02:03

I can't bring myself to watch the video but just hearing the story has disgusted me. Totally believe it was because he was black. He was a person, a human with family just like everybody else. Gives me the rage thinking about it. Did see the video of the little girl in handcuffs at school couldn't believe what I was watching. My daughter is the same age. Black people matter too

qweryuiop · 29/05/2020 02:06

That picture was a fake.

But he clearly wasn't treating George as a human who deserved dignity and the right to life. That's very likely to be because of racism at its worst. I hope that the officers involved will be put on trial.

user1471439310 · 29/05/2020 02:10

Don't watch, it is in our news each night and really kids could be seeing this. All four should get jail time and the police office who put his knee in the man's neck should be tried for murder. While the people of Minneapolis should want justice, looting and setting your own areas businesses on fire seems wrong. This cop should never have been allowed to be on the streets with so many complaints against him.

howlatthetrees · 29/05/2020 02:18

It is unbelievably sickening

OhHuck · 29/05/2020 03:16

When Emmett Till was brutally murdered all those years ago, his mother insisted on an open casket at his funeral so the world could see the mutilated, bloated and unrecognisable body of her 14 year old son. It was important to her she expose what the racist white men had done. The images shocked the nation and although the murderers were acquitted, his death kickstarted the civil rights movement. Today we're shocked repeatedly with a steady stream of disturbing viral videos of brutality towards black people, many ending fatally. Yet nothing changes. It carries on and the murderous racist scum isn't held to account. People are rightly sick of it and protesting is the only way they see change happening. If someone has more of a problem with the protests than with the murder, they need to take a long hard look at themselves.

Blurpblorp · 29/05/2020 03:18

This is so utterly horrifying. It is cold-blooded murder, the policeman should absolutely be charged. I don't see why it's not in the media more... Institutional racism I suppose. The first news report I read (can't remember where) said he was arrested for fraud. But it was just a counterfeit bill? And he wasn't resisting. I'm just absolutely raging, this poor poor man.

The petition is picking up a lot of pace www.change.org/p/mayor-jacob-frey-justice-for-george-floyd?recruited_by_id=4e720ca0-a10f-11ea-abed-83fc47bb7348&utm_source=share_petition&utm_medium=copylink&utm_campaign=psf_combo_share_initial

motherheroic · 29/05/2020 08:58

@Awwlookatmybabyspider They were looting Target a multi billion pound business. They will recover. And the only reason Target was looted was because they supported the murderers and wouldn't let protestors in to buy milk after being gassed.

Nursejackie1 · 29/05/2020 09:59

That racist murderous cop wasn’t in anyway unaware of what he was doing. He knew exactly what he was doing, and he was enjoying every second.
It was obviously racially motivated and the reason that he carried on knowing he was being filmed with such fucking arrogance was due to knowing that the system supports the killing of black men and so far with the lack of arrests it’s being illustrated very well.
The response by the justice system and Trump has been disgusting.
No arrests. Very weak messages of “sadness”.. Deploying almost 100 officers to protect the murderers house.
Yes there are riots. And I don’t fucking blame them. Nothing else is working. People are livid. To calm things down all they have to do is Arrest the cold blooded murderers. Show people that this is going to be dealt with. But no. Let’s use it as an excuse to kill more black people.
And now Trumps tweet calling those with every right to be angry “thugs” and threatening to shoot them dead.
They are showing the world very clearly who the real thugs are in all of this.
America is a fucking disgrace. I’ve always wanted to visit a few places there but now you couldn’t pay all the money in the world me to go. And I’m white. To think I’d be walking around with such white privelige while the cold blooded killing of black people is fine sickens me.

flirtygirl · 29/05/2020 10:23

People boycotted South Africa during apartheid. People need to start boycotting the USA over this. I am and will continue to do so and like the poster above, who on earth chooses to visit this place.

Mirrorxx · 29/05/2020 10:28

@flirtygirl I certainly find it hard not to judge people who support this by going on holiday there. Maybe things would actually change if people took action like that
