To ask for help with chub rub (pic incl)

Hi
Posting here for traffic...
I have always had chunky legs that rub at the top and would like someone that has had the same problem but now has gloriously rub-free thighs to help me with advice on how to get rid of it. I have got relatively narrow hips so will never have a thigh gap but I just want to enjoy a summer without that awful chub rub that comes along with it.

Have already lost 3 stone in the last 6 months and would like to lose 3 more, I am following the LP Method which is eating clean foods, low carb, low fat with lots of fruit and veg, walking a minimum of 10,000 steps a day at a fast pace plus daily Pilates/Callanetics/LP Method exercise. It’s a long hard road as I have hypothyroidism and issues with my hips/pelvis which means I can’t run. Even when I was at my slimmest before kids I still had chunky thighs so I’m not expecting to have miraculously long thin legs, but surely it’s possible to tone them so they don’t rub at the top? Is there a specific exercise that can tone my problem area? I would be so grateful if someone would give me an effective inner-thigh toning exercise.

Yeah it's more about the shape of your hips. Some people have chub rub and some people have thigh gap. You can improve it a bit but not totally eliminate it

Luxembourgmama · 26/05/2020 15:52

Also try bandalettes a bit less sweaty than shorts IMO

NathanNathan · 26/05/2020 16:01

Body glide - really works, not sticky
Sloggi cotton shorts - wear as pants, thin and comfy

Problem solved! Grin

Sounds like you’ve got this sorted! 💪🏻That is a great weight loss.

I’ve got short stocky legs and even when I’m at my lowest weight which the top of my thighs touch. I’m 5’6 and my lowest weight is around 9 stone. I find that when I’m lighter even though my thighs touch they aren’t annoying. I guess there is proportionately less thigh and more air about😅. I suspect that if you lose another 3 stone then you will be fine even if you don’t have a thigh gap.

When I was slim, size 8 (alas no longer or nowhere near it) I got chub rub as bad as I do now. So I think it could just be genetically where you carry weight.

Amazing results on your WeightLoss! How did u do it?

LakieLady · 26/05/2020 16:21

Another vote for the Big Bloomer Co's bloomers. I thought they might make me too hot, but they don't, and they definitely solved the chub rub.

They're amazingly comfortable.

imsooverthisdrama · 26/05/2020 16:54

I'm the same doesn't matter how much exercise I do I've always had massive thighs .
I've bought some chub rub shorts from snag tights last summer . They are the best great for when I wear dresses/skirts , I've bought a couple more pairs this year as they are so great .

vanillandhoney · 26/05/2020 17:01

I get it no matter what size I am! It's so frustrating. I wear tights that I've cut up so they're like shorts which helps.

Simonfromharlow · 26/05/2020 17:05

I put sure max protection deodorant on my thighs and it stops them chafing

VettiyaIruken · 26/05/2020 17:09

Below The Belt Fresh & Dry Balls.

Best thing I've ever used.

Not for balls, I have none 😁 but it works wonders on chub rub.

namechangenumber2 · 26/05/2020 17:21

This is meant to be good stuff - and it's 90p!

Another vote for the anti-chafing little white shorts from Big Bloomers

Another vote for Body Glide!

fairyfingers · 26/05/2020 18:28

I always used to get this and for me when I lost weight it did go away. So all hope not lost. Tops of my thighs are gigantic and even at my thinnest (which was a big12 so not v thin) they touched but didn't rub.

Any weight gain goes there first but walking/squats help.

And yay for short girl legs. Us pit pony girls have to stick together in our strong sturdiness

rhowton · 26/05/2020 18:37

You cannot specifically loose weight from one area. Even at my slimmest (9stone) my thighs still touched. I use what my DBrother calls my "fats". They are pieces of material that go around the widest part of your thighs.

Onynx · 26/05/2020 19:43

I found after doing intense spinning classes for a good few months my thighs really toned for the first time in over a decade- I've totally I done all that work now btw & can't even find a pair of shorts to fit me🤷🏻‍♀️. I'm pear shaped and even in school as a size 8-10 my thighs still rubbed.

Nutellaoneverything · 26/05/2020 19:54

Thanks everyone for your replies, I just wanted to be realistic with how I'm going to look and what I can do about the body shape I've got. I will be investing in some of that Body Glide for sure.

I am hoping that another 3 stone off will help things. I started losing weight from 16st 3lb 6 month's ago first by juicing (just not sustainable) and then it feels like I stumbled on a secret: the Louise Parker Method... www.amazon.co.uk/Louise-Parker-Method-Lean-Life/dp/1784726265/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?dchild=1&keywords=louise+Parker&tag=mumsnetforu03-21&qid=1590518560&sr=8-3

I feel so good on it and it's the first way of life I can see myself doing in the future. Am now 12st 12lb and am hoping to get down to around 9st 7lb when I remember feeling great. My IBS has totally cleared up, my skin is amazing and I sleep like a log! The only disadvantage has been my tits are gathering momentum southwards but I guess that's the price I pay for being the size I was and going down in weight.

My mate wears these things that you put over your leg and she swears by them she can walk for hours now whereas before it was too painful! Talcs supposed to be good as well! Sorry I don't know any exercises!

KellyHall · 26/05/2020 20:04

My thighs just seem to hate each other and want each other to die, painfully. I don't wear long dresses any more. I wear shorts or short dresses with calf length leggings, really thin hareem pants, anything to stop the blighters from biting each other!
