To ask for help with chub rub (pic incl)

Hi
Posting here for traffic...
I have always had chunky legs that rub at the top and would like someone that has had the same problem but now has gloriously rub-free thighs to help me with advice on how to get rid of it. I have got relatively narrow hips so will never have a thigh gap but I just want to enjoy a summer without that awful chub rub that comes along with it.

Have already lost 3 stone in the last 6 months and would like to lose 3 more, I am following the LP Method which is eating clean foods, low carb, low fat with lots of fruit and veg, walking a minimum of 10,000 steps a day at a fast pace plus daily Pilates/Callanetics/LP Method exercise. It’s a long hard road as I have hypothyroidism and issues with my hips/pelvis which means I can’t run. Even when I was at my slimmest before kids I still had chunky thighs so I’m not expecting to have miraculously long thin legs, but surely it’s possible to tone them so they don’t rub at the top? Is there a specific exercise that can tone my problem area? I would be so grateful if someone would give me an effective inner-thigh toning exercise.

Body glide is amazing I swear by it!

Lexilooo · 26/05/2020 10:55

Losing weight or toning up won't necessarily help, it might do but lots of thin people suffer too. It is to do with your basic build and structure.

Be really careful about doing specific inner thigh exercises you can end up building more muscle and making the problem worse.

Try hill walking for strong firm legs without building bulk.

I recommend silk shorts under dresses and longer shorts. I can't walk far in short shorts.

OohThatCat · 26/05/2020 10:57

I have tried ALL the chub rub solutions! I found shorts made me hot, lanacane worked for about two seconds, talc for about the same amount of time....even tried foundation primer!

I have proper chunky legs and the only thing that worked for me is Body Glide Anti Chafe Balm Stick

It is bloody amazing. I took it to Italy last year, wore dresses every day, walked for ages, swam in the sea, even walked round a hot Pompeii. Even swimming in the sea and walking afterwards it didn't come off. I didn't have to reapply once - just once in the morning and thats it. I think it's made for cyclists. Strong stuff, but I absolutely swear by it. 1000000000000% times better than Lanacane.

CorianderLord · 26/05/2020 11:18

I think it's more to do with your pelvis shape tbh. I have been a size 6 and my thighs still touched

Pixieblu · 26/05/2020 11:23

Genetic

I've been a size 8 with a thigh gap and chubby rub as my thighs round out.

Liquid talc
Deodorant
And Vaseline are your friends

Darcydashwood · 26/05/2020 11:24

I was going to say check out the Big Bloomers Company but see a PP has beaten me to it. Highly recommend their little shorts for under dresses in the summer etc.

Polkadotties · 26/05/2020 11:27

I rub some of this on my thighs and it really helps

Good advice. I have always had a thigh gap, even when I was bigger. Losing weight and really toning up hasn't made it any wider.

pancakepatter · 26/05/2020 11:34

Your legs are my goal legs. They are gorgeous 😍.
I use snag tights shorts - they are amazing; very cooling; super lightweight; don't roll up or dig in. Game changer.

AnnaMagnani · 26/05/2020 11:35

Another vote for BodyGlide.

Once a day, works amazing. One tube lasts forever. Even in baking heat you can walk about wearing whatever you like at whatever level of chub I am at

Nutellaoneverything · 26/05/2020 14:49

Ok so if I can come to terms with the fact that they'll probably always touch, how do I firm them up so they don't jiggle when I walk (esp inner thigh)

Body glide!

AuroraBore · 26/05/2020 14:53

Have you considered coolsculpting?(cryogenic lipolysis)?

EBM20 · 26/05/2020 14:54

Went to America last year and both me and my friend got chub rub, we used tanning oil and it worked wonders! But previously I've used vaseline, talc powder (you can get nice smelling ones from avon) and I've recently brought the liquid talc from asda but it has like a peeling consistency

WearyandBleary · 26/05/2020 15:04

Are you quite short? They just look like short girl legs to me. I’m not sure us shorties will ever have long lean thighs.

Do your hops twist in slightly? Ever have knee hip or ankle pain? Mine are slightly twisted in which o think exacerbates the chin rub. As a poster above said, you can’t do much about the shape of that.

UnfinishedSymphon · 26/05/2020 15:10

Bandalettes are your saviour OP

Thatnameistaken · 26/05/2020 15:27

I had this problem when I joined a walking group, I got some long leg knickers and wear them inside out so the seams don't chafe. Proper passion killers but they work a treat .

19lottie82 · 26/05/2020 15:29

Best product is Body Glide

This x infinity!

I’m a size 16-18 on my bottom half and absolutely rely on this stuff when on holiday, it’s a lifesaver!

Nutellaoneverything · 26/05/2020 15:34

@WearyandBleary
No I wouldn't say I'm short at 5'5" but I've always had short little stubby legs, I must be tall somewhere else but I can't work out where coz I look rather short and stubby all over! I would just love to not have to think about my legs but if I ever wear anything above my knee I feel so ashamed and self conscious coz of the jiggling and rubbing!

Snag tights do chub rub shorts, as any exercise or diet will not impact by this summer, they are a life saver 👍

maddening · 26/05/2020 15:40

What is the lp method?

BeeFarseer · 26/05/2020 15:40

I've just ordered Body Glide off the back of this thread. Thank you for starting it, OP.

Candyflosscookie · 26/05/2020 15:41

Do NOT feel ashamed of your body OP. You are unique, beautiful and fantastic, as are we all. Appreciate thyself, including your thighs!

Get some Body Glide and rock those shorts!!

Inspiralcarpetry · 26/05/2020 15:42

The Big Bloomers Company anti chafe shorts. Put them on over cotton knickers and under your dress and it's a genuine game changer. Smile
