So, DS1 has gotten in touch and sent us footage he took from his upstairs flat showing looters breaking into a store across the street. Interestingly enough, these looters were nowhere near where the actual demonstrations were taking place in the city where he lives. So they obviously weren't part of the protests.

Earlier he'd gone to his downtown office (ground floor) to make sure things were secured and filmed a line of cops marching down the street. He stayed as close to his office as he could but still got the effects of tear gas and saw them firing rubber bullets. Scared the crap out of him.

And Scrotus is peeing his pants holed up in the WH basement, urging the Govs to incite even more violence.

lionheart · 01/06/2020 20:58

My goodness--I hope he stays safe. So many examples all over social media of brutal tactics and opportunists.

'“If you don’t dominate you’re wasting your time,” Trump said.

The Washington Post obtained a recording of the call.'

www.niemanlab.org/2020/06/well-try-to-help-you-follow-the-police-attacks-on-journalists-across-the-country/

“Although in some incidents it is possible the journalists were hit or affected accidentally, in the majority of the cases we have recorded the journalists are clearly identifiable as press, and it is clear that they are being deliberately targeted.”

lionheart · 01/06/2020 22:08

Journalists targetted.

TheSparklyPussycat · 01/06/2020 23:08

In that phone call to the governors Trump seemed to think the rest of the world was laughing at the US for letting a police station be torched. No Donald, the world is appalled Sad

B1rdbra1n · 01/06/2020 23:08

like a family destroyer when thwarted he burns down the house and everyone in it:(

B1rdbra1n · 01/06/2020 23:50

Well look at that his hair has gone from orange to silver (or is it just my telly)
I keep expecting him to pause to snort a quick line

ludothedog · 02/06/2020 00:03

Don Lemon is right. The Police action was arranged at the time of his speech to show what was a peaceful protesters in a negative light. All structured for his speech. Disgusting. God, that man could send the whole country on fire. He just does not get it, actually he does, he just is a racist fuck

#Black lives matter
#white science is violence

B1rdbra1n · 02/06/2020 00:09

I think he gets it and he's doing it on purpose
he appeared to be jubilant, loving the power and attention
It's horrifying

AcrossthePond55 · 02/06/2020 00:46

www.cnn.com/2020/06/01/politics/donald-trump-national-address-race/index.html

"President Donald Trump declared himself "your president of law and order" during remarks Monday as peaceful protesters just outside the White House gates were dispersed with tear gas and flash bangs."

Oh, go fuck yerself, ya great bawbag!!

You know, I remember the Viet Nam protests of the late '60s. I was a young teen, but I did my fair share of marching. I remember Kent State. I remember the Chicago DNC. I remember the anger. Things feels the same. Like something is 'simmering' and isn't going to go away.

These two songs from my (misspent) youth keep playing in my head:

B1rdbra1n · 02/06/2020 00:54

Trump has deliberately encouraged them to turn George Floyd into a martyr
a figurehead around which the opposition can unite
He works to polarise and battle lines are drawn

B1rdbra1n · 02/06/2020 00:59

I remember the anger. Things feel the same
trumpty dumpty remembers it too and he's deliberately channelling it
The vile orange changeling😖😳

lionheart · 02/06/2020 02:02

Looks like he decided to take a walk.

'This unraveling presidency began with the Crybaby-in-Chief banging his spoon on his highchair tray to protest a photograph — a photograph — showing that his inauguration crowd the day before had been smaller than the one four years previous. Since then, this weak person’s idea of a strong person, this chest-pounding advertisement of his own gnawing insecurities, this low-rent Lear raging on his Twitter-heath has proven that the phrase malignant buffoon is not an oxymoron.'

AcrossthePond55 · 02/06/2020 02:20

So, he's deployed heavily armed US Military Personnel to the streets of DC. Apparently because DC isn't a state it doesn't fall under the Posse Comitatus Act of 1878.

They're saying he wants to invoke the Insurrection Act of 1807, which is intended to be used in cases of natural disaster and actual, well, full scale insurrection. Not for lawful protest. Posse Comitatus 1878 was intended to 'control' presidential powers granted under the Insurrection Act.

I think he's just talking out his ass and everyone's just trying to figure out what the fuck he's trying to do.

lionheart · 02/06/2020 02:47

Yes, whatever he thinks makes him look good and 'dominant.'

thehill.com/homenews/administration/500590-bishop-says-she-found-out-trump-visited-historic-dc-church-by

'“I am the bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Washington and was not given even a courtesy call that they would be clearing with tear gas so they could use one of our churches as a prop, holding a Bible, one that declares that God is love and when everything he has said and done is to enflame violence."'

TheClaws · 02/06/2020 07:06

I read somewhere on Twitter that if Trump does declare martial law - or trigger the Act that precedes it - then this would cause issues for the upcoming election. I’ll have to find it again. Stay tuned!

TheClaws · 02/06/2020 07:22

I’m finding some different answers and as I’m not a Constitutional scholar I can’t give a solid answer. However, my gut feet is Trump could postpone the election IF martial law was declared - but not entirely for that reason, IYSWIM. He could take advantage of the situation at hand. Mind you, it is occurring at a mighty handy time.

TheClaws · 02/06/2020 07:23

Keep you and your family safe, Across Flowers

Laaf80 · 02/06/2020 08:06

Sorry to jump in but I saw a bit of Trumps speech yesterday, just a bit.

He seemed more eloquent than usual, not his usual jerky uncontrolled word salad. How? Was it all a camera play?

I’m absolutely terrified (I’m black in the UK), Will the US descend into full out third reich? The unprovoked brutality I’m seeing on SM is terrifying.

Laaf80 · 02/06/2020 08:12

I know it’s TV but I keep thinking of the take over episodes in the Handmaids Tale.

I cannot believe that I’m seeing pictures from 1960s Civil Rights movement in real time.

To those of you in the US Flowers

TheNorthWestPawsage · 02/06/2020 08:16

Newspaper editors have a choice: They don't have to use the photo that President used tear gas on his citizens to generate.

The Fox News piece in lion's rawstory.com link at 02.03am is very worrying - An incitement to civilian-on-civilian violence that the Jack-booted, tiny-willyed racist thugs are just itching to start.
