Remember how wars benefit Presidents?
He wasn't winning the covid war.
Now he may win the civil unrest war... or he may think he can win it.

Roussette · 02/06/2020 09:05

Laaf80 Totally agree, some of the scenes with the Police remind me of Gilead.

One of my DDs sent me a clip from Reddit. Taken by a peaceful protestor in front of a line of Police. It was terrifying. One of the Police so pumped up, grinning, hopping from foot to foot, desperate to get at the protestors, he shouts 'shut up bitch' and then fires rubber bullets into the crowd. It's like a video game.

And how disgusting that in order for Trump to stand in front of that church, they clear the place with tear gas... it was priests and some nurses there with water and eye wash at the church to help, but for him to have a photo op with a Bible, they tear gas them.

He wanted that photo op because #bunkerboy was trending on Twitter...

From another priest who witnessed President Lard Arse's walk of shame.

I’m increasingly thinking he’s stoking up civil unrest so he can declare a state of emergency and cancel the November elections. Are we seeing a Mugabe-like power grab in action?

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 02/06/2020 10:37

Two things.

One, I thought it was illegal for Trump (or anyone else) to deploy the US armed forces within the border of the USA? There was a lot of stuff about that when he was sending them down to the border with Mexico to enforce his border controls.

Two, I strongly suspect that the people doing the rioting and looting are not the protestors nor yet Antifa, but on the contrary are right-wing (and racist) thugs taking advantage of the unrest and at the same time doing their bit to make the protestors look bad. Do we have pictures of the looters at all? Are they all black, or are the majority young white men?

He is stirring up civil unrest thinking that he is skilled enough to control the outcome of an explosion
or maybe he doesn't really care about the outcome of the explosion, America is starting to reject him and she must be punished

cozietoesie · 02/06/2020 11:01

It's starting.

Trump has declared war on his own people

If looting was being driven by black people, I doubt white arseholes like this would have been filming in the middle of it.

Hmm

Roussette · 02/06/2020 12:35

I feel like driving to his golf course in Clare and taking a shit on it

Someone did that at his Scotland one, but it was just a wee!

Roussette · 02/06/2020 12:53

Colin Kahl
@ColinKahl
Every official who made that walk of shame with Trump across Lafayette Square for that photo op at St. Johns Episcopal Church, with the tear gas used to disperse peaceful protestors still hanging in the air, will be judged harshly by history. A day that will live in infamy.

The pictures with the Bible (and all that preceded them to allow them to happen) were abhorrent.

5 months. 5 more months.

TheNorthWestPawsage · 02/06/2020 12:59

And as all this goes on so do the primaries.

Eight states and the District of Columbia are set to hold primary elections on Tuesday, making it the single biggest day of nominating contests since Super Tuesday in early March.

There's a lot at stake in the June 2 primaries. Former Vice President Joe Biden will have the chance to formally clinch the Democratic presidential nomination, high-profile Senate matchups will be decided and vote-by-mail will face a crucial test amid the coronavirus outbreak.

The primaries also come as the nation continues to reel from the pandemic while also facing growing protests against police brutality and racial injustice following the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis.

Here are five things to watch on Tuesday:

Agree, this is all revenge because people are laughing at him, his dignity must be upheld at any and all costs

Yes Across. As an oldie, I have never wished for time to pass more quickly than I do now.

There's a cartoon that speaks volumes :(

BruceAndNosh · 02/06/2020 13:29

I was horrified that a peaceful protest out the White House was teargassed so Trump could walk to a church across the road for a photo op. And he didn't have the courtesy to inform the diocese in advance

Roussette · 02/06/2020 13:53

John Pavlovitz speaking out so well.

OMG, with all that's going on I completely forgot about this being a 'Super Tuesday'!!

AcrossthePond55 · 02/06/2020 14:52

www.theatlantic.com/magazine/archive/2019/01/presidential-emergency-powers/576418/

This article was published in January 2019 but is frighteningly relevant today. Pay especial attention to the part about the Insurrection Act and it's possible use on elections.

AcrossthePond55 · 02/06/2020 14:56

I will add that the jury is still 'out' on whether or not delaying/cancelling an election would affect the end of the Constitutionally mandated presidential term as they are two separate parts of the Constitution.

We are really in uncharted territory. Which is what happens when you let an insane person captain the ship.
