Yes Rousette! "CHI-nah" makes me want to punch right through the TV/computer screen. Angry

OP posts:
Roussette · 19/06/2020 17:21

He says it in such a derogatory way when he says CHInah.... it's his expression, really highlighted when he called Covid the Chinah Virus

lionheart · 19/06/2020 17:22

I won't listen to that.

TheNorthWestPawsage · 19/06/2020 17:31

He's itching for a fight. I hope the protesters don't play ball and stay at home leaving the racist, anti-mask wearing knuckle-draggers to fight their own shadows.

"Any protesters, anarchists, agitators, looters or lowlifes who are going to Oklahoma please understand, you will not be treated like you have been in New York, Seattle, or Minneapolis," Trump tweeted Friday. "It will be a much different scene!"

Shall we call tomorrow Junetieth, or Darwin Day?

AcrossthePond55 · 19/06/2020 17:48

To me it always sounds as if he's saying GHY-nah. Not quite a 'Ch', not quite a 'soft G', but somewhere in-between.

Goady fucker with his threats to protesters. BUT it wouldn't surprise me if there aren't ringers already in place to cause problems.

I haven't found the 'source' yet but DH said he read somewhere that since Scrotus is making attendees sign a waiver, the venue is now asking the Scrotus Cmte for some type of 'plan' to mitigate attendees being exposed to C-19. I expect because the venue realizes that if they can't sue Scrotus, they'll sue them instead. Interesting if true since one of his main criteria is that the whole pandemic 'thing' be absolutely ignored.

Roussette · 19/06/2020 18:49

I wonder if he will actually pay for the venue, doesn't he owe others?!

The change in pronunciation of Antifa is surely to purge it of its original meaning. So it no longer sounds like "anti" and fa (pronounced fuh unstressed) is just a syllable at the end, Sad

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 19/06/2020 19:51

The sad thing is that he has the BBC newscasters doing it as well.

Republicans.

Tennessee Republicans approve six-week abortion ban in surprise vote
Ban beginning at six weeks, which is before most women know they are pregnant, is blatantly unconstitutional

Republicans in Tennessee have voted to ban abortion as early as six weeks after conception, in a surprise midnight vote held in the middle of a pandemic, without members of the public present.

The ban beginning at six weeks, which is before most women know they are pregnant, is blatantly unconstitutional and will almost certainly be blocked in the courts before it goes into force. Reproductive rights advocates were swift to promise a challenge.

The bill was not listed on the state legislature’s calendar and the vote took place in Nashville in a state capitol closed to the public because of the coronavirus pandemic.

Yeah, you'll be given a MAGA hat and a Trump 2020 flag to wave

Despite the fact that the attendees will all be offered hand sanitiser and masks I suspect that there will be a lot of pressure for masks NOT to be worn. Trump will not want any visual reminder of the pandemic that he is trying to ignore

BruceAndNosh · 19/06/2020 22:30

Since all attendees should have preregistered, I assume it will be simple to produce a contact Tracing list if anyone becomes ill with covid soon after the rally?

I’ve copied a tweet from The White House account (now shamelessly partisan) regarding the status of COVID-19 In the US. It repeats inaccurate statistics in odd terms (fewer than 6% tested?) and says daily rates are falling - when they are actually rising. The link leads to the whitehouse.gov site and is nothing less than propaganda - and highly misleading at that. I’ve copied it in here as it’s worth a read.

Fewer than 6% of Americans now tested each week are found to have the Coronavirus. Daily average case rates continue to fall, and all 50 states have begun reopening in a safe and responsible manner.

An update on reopening America!

Americans are ready to get back to work. Today, fewer than 6 percent of Americans tested each week are found to have the Coronavirus. Daily average case rates continue to fall, and all 50 states have begun reopening in a safe and responsible manner.

Small businesses are leading this comeback. During the height of the pandemic, more than 80 percent of them were forced to close temporarily as Americans helped slow the spread of COVID-19. To help these companies recover and avoid bankruptcy, state leaders must continue to follow President Trump’s Guidelines for Opening Up America Again.

Endless lockdowns are not an option.

President Trump hosted a group of these small business leaders for a roundtable at the White House today. Joining him were Gov. Pete Ricketts of Nebraska and Gov. Kevin Stitt of Oklahoma. “America is better supplied and more prepared to reenter than, I would say, just about any other place,” the President said.

🎬 President Trump: We’ve saved 50 million American jobs

The Paycheck Protection Program (PPP), signed into law by President Trump in March and replenished in April, has sustained millions of small businesses and protected their employees during the pandemic. The President approved more than $670 billion for the PPP, along with $60 billion for the SBA’s Disaster Loan Program.

Vice President Mike Pence, head of the White House’s Coronavirus Task Force, traveled to Iowa earlier this week and visited Michigan today, where he toured two manufacturing companies. In May, the American manufacturing sector created 225,000 new jobs—part of the record-breaking 2.5 million jobs added last month.

“During one of the most challenging times in our Nation,” the Vice President tweeted, “it was the people who make things & the people who grow things who stepped up.”

As our economy comes back, it’s vital that we continue to work together, get people back to work, and protect our most vulnerable citizens. Regrettably, too many politicians and pundits care more about exploiting fear than about reopening our country.

After weeks of condoning mass protests and turning a blind eye to violent rioters, many Democrats are once again calling for stricter lockdowns on law-abiding residents.

Enough is enough. Working Americans stepped up when the Coronavirus struck, staying home and often losing their jobs to help slow the spread of disease. They aren’t asking for much now—only a chance to get back to work and provide for their families.

President Trump hears them. It’s time to safely reopen America for business.

This is somewhat alarming.

www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/entry/geoffrey-berman-william-barr-us-attorney-southern-district-new-york-trump_n_5eed7619c5b63562b7603756?ri18n=true&ncid=engmodushpmg00000004

'U.S. Attorney Geoffrey Berman is leaving as head of the powerful Southern District of New York, Attorney General William Barr announced late Friday. The Manhattan office is one of the nation’s mightiest districts, trying major cases against the mobsters, terrorists — and allies of President Donald Trump, including his former personal lawyer Michael Cohen.

But Berman issued his own statement following Barr’s announcement, saying that he has “no intention of resigning my position.” Berman said the first he learned that he was “stepping down” was from Barr’s press release. He vowed that he will stay and to “important cases” will continue “unimpeded.”'

B1rdbra1n · 20/06/2020 10:54

😳
What does that mean?
Is Geoffrey Berman going to find a horse's head in his bed next 😳

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 20/06/2020 11:29

Is it in fact constitutionally possible for Trump to nominate someone for a post which is already occupied? If so, how is anyone with whom he disagrees able to stay in any unelected office?

TheNorthWestPawsage · 20/06/2020 11:41

Seems to be a constitutional puzzle at the moment based on how Berman was appointed (I think...)

OP posts:
TheNorthWestPawsage · 20/06/2020 11:41
  1. Berman was appointed under 28 U.S.C. § 546(d).

  2. That statute contemplates that he keeps his job until a permanent successor is confirmed by the Senate.

  3. 28 U.S.C. § 541(c) says U.S. Attorneys are subject to removal by the President.

So the statutes conflict.

OP posts:
TheNorthWestPawsage · 20/06/2020 11:45

Because Berman was appointed under 546(d), even if the President can remove him, he can only be replaced by:

  1. Someone nominated by the President & confirmed by the Senate; or

  2. Someone else appointed by judges under 546(d).

Carpenito is neither of those.

Clear:
Barr lied.
Something really stinks.
Legally, Barr can't fire Berman.
Berman can be replaced by a Senate-confirmed successor.

Not clear:
Whether Trump can fire Berman.
Whether Barr/Trump can name his replacement without Senate confirmation.
WHY this happened.

(In my opinion) Trump is now really fearful he will lose in November. It's mainly the SDNY who is investigating all his "alleged" crimes/swindles/taxes not related to his Presidency (the ones he can actually go to jail for) so he's trying to close down all those strands of investigation and probably destroy all the evidence if he gets his patsy appointed Probably thought this would be an easy move to do late on Friday when all news focuses on his rally in Tulsa.
